Maaaan just wait. I’ll show you guys.
Strider/Strange/Dante was one of the last few teams I messed around with before IRL stuff started kicking me in the ass. Now I don’t play Marvel (or video games in general) so much. Sorry if anyone missed me. >.>
Doing alright bro? Feel free to catch me on Skype if there’s something I can help out with.
yo, you guys skype it up? Add me! It’s tortonon as well
Hope life will treat you well @maziodyne
How does everyone deal with the Hawkeye matchup? My friend has a particularly good one that he uses backed up by missiles. Piercing bolt destroys every zoning pattern I have and trades with mystic sword M. It’s also near impossible to teleport because of the missles, any advice?
None of this should be a problem. If you know he’s going to throw a bolt, teleport. If he has missile out, use a hyper, either one will work. If missiles aren’t around, teleport when he shoots something. Don’t use eye, it’s worthless in that matchup.
Mystic Sword M everything else. Make piercing bolt a risk for him by using Teleport H and M (preferably H, recovers faster)
I’m willing to guess he leaves himself extremely open to any random hyper but you aren’t abusing it enough. Just do it.
You’re right, I rarely just random hyper. I should do that more… What about when he applies his pressure? Generally he respects strange as strange and tries to keep me guessing on what he’s going to do next. It seems like there’s very little I can do besides push(block) when he comes in spamming sM xx non crossup jump or crossup jump xx posiontip with missles in the mix. Sometimes I can catch him and grab him but he’s good at delaying and varying his shit.
I bet you could just st.M any of this crossup attempts. But either way he shouldn’t really be getting near you. There isn’t much of a “do this one thing” answer, rather than a “use assists right, be smart with graces, etc.” answer.
How do you guys comfirm off xfactor sj height sov and what are the strategy for red and yellow orbs
The same way you normally start. H Teleport upwards, then after falling a bit, throw an aimless Flame to catch their fall, and palm them again. From there, you can do the normal followup or teleport M to the floor.
During combos you want no graces. During neutral game you want all your graces. Generally speaking, you almost always want to be deploying yellow graces. The only times you want reds are in the corner, or in any position you can reliably anticipate your opponent to be at where you can quickly fire it off.

Some notes on assist choice.
Bolts:
-Primarily an assist disabler. Use against assist dependent teams, unless that assist is Rocket Raccoon.
-Excellent pressure tool only for box jump characters. e.g. Nova, Spencer, Dante, MODOK, Iron Man. Ground based characters can not get the most use out of it due to characters being able to crouch under it. Use Spitfire Twice instead.
-15(29)15 active frames, about 1 second of control over ground dashing, assists, and normal jumping.
-Loads more recovery than point version, assist is unsafe even on hit.
-Use against: Big bodied characters that can’t crouch under it, high profile assist users (missiles, drones, other beams that aren’t Magneto,) anyone if you’re Nova.
Eye:
-Highly defensive tool, but can be used offensively if assist call is covered by your point character.
-Stays on the field for 2 seconds. Disables ground movement.
-Gives you an object to play with.
-Loses to more projectiles than it should.
-Actually has faster startup than the point version.
-Use against: fast moving, close range rushdown characters that will likely run into the eye, anyone who doesn’t have a projectile strong enough to beat it, beam assist users giving you trouble.
Denak:
-Offensive assist meant to force opponents to react and move.
-The closer they are to the daggers, they more likely they will be hit.
-3 durability points per dagger, 2 less than the point version.
-Recovers faster than point version.
-Good for incoming setups.
-Opponents avoiding the assist will usually have a predictable escape route.
-Use against: Zero, anyone who spends time at super jump height, anyone with unsafe lateral movement, anyone if you’re highly mobile.
I’m quickly becoming a fan of Denak assist. I think it’s underused and bolts is overrated (but not bad.)
I’d have to make one alteration on that bolts entry. Bolts also proves to be amazing for ranged pressure when people can use it to confirm from fullscreen easily. The three examples I can quote for that are Nemesis, Hawkeye, and Wesker.
Never though of Daggers of Denak assist, it’s really underrated. I think that Magneto can create the same dirty mixups he can with Eye assist without scaling the combo so much. I’ll give a try!
Bolts is far from overated. It gives every character in the game a neutral and a way in.
Bolts isn’t going to do anything to super jump height characters. It provides no lockdown unless you’re a box dash character. Just about anyone can crouch it and that doesn’t stop them from attacking.
Just done with fr, got bodied hard with my first 2 matches, and too think i was counting on getting out my pulls…
One match i was just playing bad against the hulk match up. Never did it before. But i think i could have done better as my opponent wasn’t that brilliant.
I was also ovewhelmed by my first major probably as i drop one easy kill with zlxf strablnge which might have gave me the room to breath for the match.
2nd match was against mag morrid doom. And let me tell you, this is one nasty teams . Any hit with magneto convert to tak inf to dead character and 4-5 bars to our lovely succubus. And if we just dance till he gets 2 bars, guess what’s coming…
I’m not used to that kind of aggresive mags, and not with missiles behind him, really exposed how i was slacking on my movement training, i didn’t want to fight head to head (which i probably should as i have wesker with dante and strange behind) and yet couldnt create the space i would feel comfortable with.
most of what i remember is wesker dies with him getting 5 bars and i get a kill on mags using 4 bars (hammer hit into lvl3 combo into lvl1). With no bars fighting 5 bars morridoom (for the first time…) was proving too much for me…
Maybe i was just ovewhelmed by the first major, i will also participate at texas and ect, hope i will do better there.
True, at least for Magneto. People press buttons a lot, and even if I used Bolts, the opponent crouched and I tried to tridash L, I got happy birthday. That happened a lot of times until I gave up on Bolts to use the Eye.
The Daggers are interesting, but it will require a lot of training to use it properly. It’s not an assist that you can use everytime, as it’s easily dodged. But Magneto has interesting options with Attraction/Repulsion/Gravitation, not mentioning crossups with triangle dash. And they’re very dirty crossups, because even if I Magneto gets hit the Daggers are going to save me. It’s like Mini Hidden Missiles
@Gefen don’t be like that man. Tournaments are sometimes unforgiving, and there’s nothing anyone can do regarding brackets and such. You cant feel discouraged or bad. You’ll do better next time, I’m sure of it
