This doesnt seem easy. But I think it is waaaaay viable mid-game. Specially against the derp stuff.

This will work wonders with assists. Illusion by itself is already pretty safe to throw out since it has a 4f startup and 1f (!) recovery. The problem usually was that Strange wouldn’t recover fast enough even after countering slow normals like Hulk st.H for him to punish reliably, and even then they could always cancel into super or something. This new tech will make it so that we can pretty much guarantee that they eat a full combo off an Impact Palm crumple. If this picks up, we have all the license in the world to laugh at people who thought Strange couldn’t confirm hits, let alone get in.

I’m sure it will. I’m not playing right now, but looking at the speed of inputs, it would work almost as a bold-cancel out of a stinger on the 2P side (4H+2ATK). So if you can play Dante, you can do that. Luckily I can play Dante :3.

Damn, and I thought the only useful way to bring Illusion was to call Ammy and Illusion on incoming characters…

Lows & multi hitting normals as well as faster normals can still beat this.

Yeah but what’s important is that it can be used vs. popular approach moves, like Foot dive, Tridash/boxdash j.H/j.S, etc. I’m trying to narrow down a list of what characters this tech needs to be tested against. So far I have:

  • Morrigan (j.S/Shell Kick)
  • Zero (j.H)
  • Viewtiful Joe (j.H)
  • Doom (j.M)
  • Taskmaster (j.H, but can be used against Shield Skills)
  • Frank West (lvl 4 = j.M)
  • Ghost Rider (j.S)
  • Shuma-Gorath (j.H)
  • Hawkeye (j.H)
  • Sentinel (cr.M)
  • Ryu/Akuma (Tatsu?, 6H overhead)
  • Dante (Reverb Shock, but can be used against: j.H, j.S, Hammer, Stinger)

But I’m pretty sure we can find some ways around this, like backdashing out of range (Strange’s backdash is pretty decent, very fast if plink dashed) then Impact Palm or SoV punish.

Dude… if this can be done against aerial approachings only, it’s already too godlike.

What made me happy the most was against Wolverine. Divekick is done, but if he goes slash, you can do this without even giving two fucks. If it’s done ok, you punished him and comboed into his death. If not, it will option-select with a palm because he crossed you up, and he is also dead.

This is christmas, dude. No kidding.

Nice tech, thanks for bringing it to our attention! It’s definitely something new to develop.

One thing I’m a little confused by is where he says in the description; “illusion teleport invincible is not added.” So does this mean it only absorbs one attack before it’s vulnerable again…? Great for countering divekicks/Helm Breakers but I’m not so sure about some of the other stuff…sorry if I’ve missed something here.

wait, cant Strange cancel his dash canceled illusion into another illusion for further invincibility? Dear god…

Yeah he’ll be the best character if he has an invincible approach that spams illusion plink dashes.
