Yes, combos sometimes work differently on Sent. Common misconception is that everything will work on Sentinel combo-wise, but people seem to neglect the fact that also because of his hurtbox size, you will also have to adjust your combos. For example, Magneto’s usual Hyper Grav loop requires you to delay your addf j.H between reps, whereas with other characters you can just do the combo at a faster rhythm. Strange’s FoF loop is also harder on Sent for me because you also have to adjust your timing on the Impact Palm going up-- that hurtbox makes it easy to land hits on him, but it’s a pain for a character like Strange who has very spacing-dependent combos.
The Wesker match-up is bloody annoying.
Gunshot rapes EoA, and he completely rushes me the fuck down; especially with a good projectile assist.
I usually just do less fof in the loop to compensate for the fatass body + falling speed.
ex. S , Ip xx fof xx ip land
just wondering, what air normal do you guys use after a :h: teleport? can’t really decide between air :s: or air :h:.
i just want to say that dr. strange is not a very good one-trick-pony, which is why it’s really hard to practice stuff with him. i used to get annoyed because it seemed like my opponent always knew what i was going to do, and ten i realized i kept doing the same thing xD it ended up being a telegraphed-type thing. mix up your mixups!
oo that sounds good. how about EoA, FoF, I.P.>yellow grace, FoF, :l: DoD? i usually throw a mystic sword>SoV after the DoD; it usually catches people who are trying to get away/attack after the projectile frenzy. after i’ve done that a couple times, a
teleport in the middle of the pattern becomes more effective than usual.
I use H, turns into a cross up sometimes.
The other reason I use it is because air H connects with hitboxes faster than S does and it hits most of the cast when crouching which means you can cancel a blocked air normal into a teleport faster. When you have an opponent in the corner, try variations of teleport H, air H and teleport L, cr. H. As soon as they block your air normal immediately cancel into one of the tele’s. It’s the closest thing to high/lows Strange has, but turns out it can be pretty mean.
I do air S, if blocked I continue into c.H, if blocked I convert into mystic sword.
It’s a three part thing (High~low~fakeout)
yeah, i quickly figured out air :s: whiffs on crouching opponents =[
i think it even whiffs on short standing opponents if you use it early enough.
ooo, Illusion got my doctor strange out of hulk’s corner gamma charge infinite!!
yay for failed online grabs!
EDIT: eh, nevermind. i tested it in training, and it seems to depend on how well the hulk mashed. i guess if the grab missed, then illusion will come out. how is that even possible? all of hulk’s gamma charge followups are at least -10 on block.
Love when I get into a player match and the other person see’s my “Knack For Magic” title, my Strange icon, and my beginner status and immediately assume that they can use him as well just to make mine look pathetic.
They then end up attempting to get their Strange to face-off against mine and continue to completely fail. If they manage to survive my first clean hit for whatever reason and their health get’s low they spam SoV’s in a desperate attempt to kill my Strange and say that they’ve “won”.
Most of them don’t realize that I can counter Strange’s SoV with seven rings.
Haha.
Oopsies. Double post. Would delete it if I could.
Okay, I just ran into like the third person that’s snapped in my strange in the beginning of the match. What’s going on here? What exactly are they afraid of? His low health? Lol
Do you play him on second or anchor?
People are finally realizing…
HE’S NOT LOW TIER!
Anchor. I’m not saying he’s a bad character, but they’re snapping him in like he’s strider, even though it’s their first time playing me. I find it odd
I bitch about this character more then anyone else, yet I love him more then anyone else.
Weird shit.
Husteen, perhaps they dislike his assist or they fear x-factor SoV spam.
Yeah, spell of vishanti is one of those moves, good offline, almost top-tier levels of silly online.
Dude if I had a nickel for every time some Vergil asshole tried to round trip me on the tag in or hit me with any other character, I’d have almost as many nickels as I would have for every time I have SoV XFC’d their ass.
Everytime I come across Husteen, you are just sitting in an empty lobby and refuse to play anyone lol
that’s the only explanation i can come up with, but my other two characters are dante and morrigan lol! if they were worried about that kind of thing, you’d think they’d be threatened by xFactor morrigan astral spam or dante’s bullying.
SoV spam hasn’t been doing much for me. as soon as i get anchor strange out, my opponent freezes up. does empty super jumps, etc. i really need to get in the habit of using SoV as a whiff-punisher, because people don’t fall for the randomness anymore.
also, i keep thinking they’re snapping in morrigan, but they snap in strange. as all us strange players know too well, he’s free on incoming. oh! maybe that’s why they snap him in haha.
Note that without Strange you got no assists on the team for Dante, and no horizontal cover for Morrigan, Plus no strong DHC (if Morrigan want to finish combo in the air).
Cutting the main assist of point/point/assist teams is well known strategy (My friend tries it against me against my Dante/Strange/Wesker) as a lots of point characters are kinda diminished once you cut their cover.
