How to Stop Worrying and Love the Hoary Hosts of Hoggoth - The Ultimate Doctor Strange Thread

I can get 3 free reps of footdive loop with Doom if ever I’m lazy. lol. dunno why you’d wanna do that since Strange builds meter fine on his own, but the option’s there like if you hit the panic button or something.

To be fair I’m kinda ass at the game and getting in, in general, is hard work, with strange it’s a bit tougher than that.

I happen to run into this figure at a Hastings and had to get it. It standing next to my X-Mas present (Sentinel) and Anniversary gift (Magneto).

I guess we’re fucked guys @.@

oh and I’m gonna be working on my vortex setups tomorrow for sure. I was brainstorming and I remembered Ibuki’s vortex from SSF4 made use of hard/untechable knockdown, which Strider’s Vajra assist does to airborne opponents in this game. and since I know of several ways to get Strider to knock people out of the air mid combo… well it’s an idea to pursue that’s for sure.

I don’t know what he’s talking about. I land many an Impact Palms in matches, both off and online. Obviously he hasn’t played any REAL Strange players.

Anyway… I figured out the issue I was having with the capture card. My processor is poop… so I used my work’s Lenovo laptop and the quality is amazing with just the default settings. No lag or missing frames. Going to compile as much videos as I can… then transfer the vids to my pc (I have no issues with using the video editors, just the capturing card)

After hitting the lab… my supposedly reset combo will depend if they can block or not and I’ve been working on those counter measures to deal with it. At the same time, I did manage to come up with a legitimate combo with the same assist, however it doesn’t kill Thor, but almost does. It deals 996,600 damage for 26 hits. As noticed in that one video where Ryu was killed and the data reflected 997,000 damage, this is probably enough to kill characters with 1milion vitality points

Well… after finally getting stuff to work, working in the lab, I’m heading to bed.

Man that Strange vortex looks amazing but…I feel Strange works much, MUCH better with Missiles to get pressure off him because he can’t do it on his own. What assist should I run guys, Beam or Missiles?

I’m gonna RTSD anyway so Beam all the way for me and never looking back. Missiles are mostly a defensive assist and they require specific setups in combos so I don’t use them much. Strider assist protects the skies for me anyway.

My Strange is more of a “keepaway until you fuck up” kind of character, which is why I guess I can afford to have missiles. I was thinking that Disruptor might work as well but this would force me to take up a whole new character I know nothing about.

How do you kara impact palm?

How do you feel about using Hawkeye’s up-arrow assist instead of Strider for air protection? I like Strider from MvC2 but I love having the Hawkeye 1-frame punish and insane chip damage.

plink LMH while holding forward.

Found a practical zoning use for L Graces. Set two L Graces, air grab AA in front of them. From there, do flame and Teleport M, then low :l:, low :m: xx Mystic Swords L. Should be able to build a bar off of the follow-up.

Also, does anybody know if doing the usual BnB ender ( :m: Daggers xx SoV), but replacing the :m: Daggers with EoA will keep the opponent locked-in place at ground level while SoV hits? I have a horizontal DHC option from Strange on my team and need a way to land it (plus don’t have the game yet).

I don’t use that ender at all. Don’t think it does any much additional damage, but I’ll mess with it in the lab tonight. However, by the time you’re done activating EoA and doing SoV, your opponent will have already recovered and if you don’t have another meter to safely DHC, they are going to tech roll forward and punish while you are recovering from SoV.

If you’re in the corner, you’ll want to do EoA about sweep distance, just enough so that if they decide to tech roll forward, they either get hit or get caught in block stun. Enough to call for an assist and buy you time to do graces (at least 2 of them) :m: DoD, Teleport :m: , FoF, cr.:l:, … whatever. I like to tigerknee my EoA after a knockdown for that chip damage and to buy time to call an assist and set graces.

Yeah, just want to know if you can do EoA xx SoV (fast cancel, maybe) instead of :m: daggers xx SoV. Not interested in the damage, just need to know if it locks the opponent near the ground on hit. Thanks in advance.

it doesn’t, unfortunately. it was one of the things I tested when I first got the game. EoA has a tendency to lift airborne opponents off the ground, which is further triggered by SoV. so no, it’s not gonna keep them locked down.

:frowning: Thanks for the feedback. Sucks.

Keep your head up and get back in that lab!

has anyone started doing TK M Daggers, then L Daggers after? it’s a lot more annoying and a lot faster than M Daggers, wait, L Daggers on the ground. I find it’s especially useful with Doom assist. it’s pretty good and does a respectable amount of chip.

Yeah, I figure I can just do a fast DHC to take care of that problem. Oh, I’m using SRoR like a psuedo dhc glitch tool sometimes. If you use any character that causes that spinning knockdown state off of a solid hit/a few hits, you can dhc into SRoR and continue depending on the hyper combo starter.

Trying it from Wright hypers (corner Maya/Judge atm) with interesting results. Does more than a raw dhc into SoV if you can find a set-up for it (usually it turns into the combo to regain the bar spent for the dhc, then the :m: Daggers xx SoV at the end).

I do, it buys you time to lay graces or do EoA… and its annoying, lol.

Scratch that… I was wrong. I was doing that tonight and although it connects, you don’t recover fast enough from the :l: DoD to setup anything by the time they get hit. You can get a grace or two, but nothing much from that and by the time you attempt to teleport from the :l: DoD, they’d recover from hit stun.
