How to fight against Honda?

Hibiki and Vega counters Honda. blocked headbutts can be countered with jab/mp slahes and cr.mp with vega. Vega just counters honda in general (since good old sf2 days). Vega’s cr.mp also stops dash rc hands, since they can’t get into range when you spam cr.mp.

At the right range, you can anticipate dash, rc hands and do :hcf: + :k: counters with hibiki, or again, similiar to vega, jab/mp slash to prevent the dash in.

Jump up/back and falling rh with just about every character will cleanly hit honda out of random rc headbutts.

Try to stay out of the corner, honda’s dirty rc grab/chop/headbutt/hands traps are really hard to get out of in the corner.

with ken, i suppose you can try to zone honda out of dash rc hands range with standing/f+rh. not really sure what you’re suppose to do in this match up though.

I’m not as good as Eddie Lee, popoblo, etc… so I don’t use Maki.


C-Sagat vs. RC headbutts

It’s very important to stay outside the range of RC hands and at a distance where you can always react to a headbutt.

-jump back on reaction (early), land, (Honda right behind you), combo/sweep
-chicken block (must be as late as possible), land, sweep OR d.HP xx super
-roll behind, level 2/3 Low Tiger Super (distancing is tricky at times… works best when your back is close to the corner)
-(back to corner only), chicken block with any timing, land, d.HP xx super
-(full screen), dp+HP --> I can’t react any faster than full screen

I don’t like jumping straight up and down with j.HK to discourage Honda from using RC Headbutt in the first place because Honda can nullify that by using RC Hands and then continue mashing to take you out of the air. Jump back HK/airblock is alright but remember that once you’re put yourself into the corner, you’ve pretty much lost if Honda just moves forward into his Hondawins range.


I think Hibiki can only punish headbutts with the LP slash.

the true counter to honda is… MAKI!!! thats what everybody believes right? japanese make vids of themselves losing with their toptier characters to trashtier characters to trick americans who try to find an edge. that way when evolution comes they’ll swindle USA for all our money. the one true counter to every japanese strategy and character is vega crouching strong punch. never forget that.

the only strat that vega crouch mp doesn’t counter is RC electricity x N. That tactic is too top tier to beat.

At the break tournament this past sunday I played against an RC honda. That shit was hard. Not much u could really do but it was a learning experience.

Dude, just stay out of the range where RC Slappy Slappy connects. Then jump straight up and hit hit on recovery. He has NO good long range pokes. Once you see him move even a BIT forward, that means he has no charge, hence no RC Headbutt. So at that point wait for SLAPPY SLAPP AND ROLL THROUGH IT. What’s the worst that will happen? It’s just like Guile fight. You wait for him to lose charge and you stay out of his key range (SLAPPY SLAPPY).

This is why Dhalsim wins. He can superjump up, and wait for him to SLAPPY SLAPPY OR RC HEADBUTT. If he does the former, you drill him in recovery. If he does the latter, you let him pass over you and the fight resets.

you know that actually makes sense, but if honda abandons that tactiv and starts to rush you down Sim can’t do anything to keep him off you.

Sim can ALWAYS do something to fight rush down. Teleport to other side of the screen. Once you do that, directions reverse and Honda loses charge…so he can’t Headbutt Sim out of recovery, his super jump is BLAH. He’s got shitty mobility without his Headbutt.

Or Honda can just sit in the corner and let Sim make the first move
