Who said no one’s going to play it? There’s no major discussion on TZ regarding this (that is a thread with 10+ pages), meaning players have accpeted it. Personally I’d rather play Ttt than 5.0, but I don’t think the players would want that.
(As someones mentioned) What has the PSP being shitty got to to with no T5:DR? The PSP is still over selling here in the UK. The reason Japan is doing so well with sales of DS is cuz (no offence) they like the weird freaky games. I mean look how long nintendogs has been number 1 and they classify each series as a different game so all 3 games were in the top 10 (and if you have a copy you need a life big time).
Back on subject. We dont have arcades in my city but the next city to me has a T5:DR arcade and I think what the Tekken community is saying is right. Its like running Marvel 1 instead of Marvel 2. I know T5:DR isnt out on PS2 but its not because of the PSP port its because when T5 came out they converted it straight onto PS2 fairly quick which meant arcades wasting thousands in money because people were simply buying the game on PS2 rather than spending loads in arcades. So Namco are waiting to see how well the arcades do before porting it to PS2.
If 3rd strike wasnt out on PS2/Xbox I bet you any money you like they would have that on an arcade cab at evo because its just too popular for it to be scrapped and no one would play it on DC because its no way near Arcade Perfect. So I would like to see if the Evo staff turned around and said 3rd strike will be on DC now to see what you would all say…or if Marvel 2 was on Xbox.
Just for the record, Soo, I spent a shit load of money that weekend on my hotel fee, food, and everything else that everyone else spent money for. Evo staff didn’t get jack shit from Green Valley Ranch in terms of special treatment.

Just a quick Question to the evo staff
- the biggest number of entrance is usually MVC2, right?
- if the tekken community was able to contact namco about DR at evo and porting it for PS2 and maybe show some other good reasons, would they try to port for PS2 even if this situation involves their sales? basically would they give a crap about the tekken community’s situation?

Last year the biggest tournament by far was 3rd Strike. After that I wanna say either T5 or CvS2 (I’m sure someone has the #'s - I’m just doing this off top of my head) and then prolly marvel.

Sony has a rather strict policy of what gets put on their platforms. When Capcom tried to release AE in america - sony said no and said you need to include another game which is why the american version has 3S and AE. When Sega released VF4:Evo in america they couldn’t sell it at full price, had to do mark it as greatest hits and sell it for $20. So for Sony to allow a very minor update (I’m not talking about gameplay saying that as an outside observer the games look similiar) it would require many political hoops to jump through.
A friend of mine, a designer on Gun wrote about this on his blog not too long ago:
http://new-challenger.blogspot.com/2006/02/tekken-psp-sign-of-times.html
You gotta remember that even if 1000 people entered Tekken at Evo it is still just a drop in the bucket of sales that would be necessary to release DR for ps2.
P.S. to Soo - I spent MAD money at that damn hotel - including hotel room, food, etc.

Wow that was interesting so since it might be a while till sony buys DR for the PS2 wat will evo do about tekken? are they just going to use t5? becuase that game is obviously unbalanced
oh and thanks for the other info
i think its pretty clear
evo staff is firm as always so if houston want to do dr and bring 2 boards run and UN official tourney at the venue…all the people will still be there.
Agreed.
Plus it shouldn’t matter which version is used because most of the people complaining haven’t even mastered T5 yet. FluffyXXL and Stuff.
actually people are going to play 5.0 now.
the prize structure has been announced.
1st place finish get $5000, 2nd place get $2000 and 3rd place get $1000.
even if you finish in the top 8 you will get some cash.
with those kinds of prizes for the winners i think this will attract alot of tekken players now whether its 5.0 or DR.
money shouldnt matter, unfortunatly this is america, but for fuck sakes does anyone know what a standard is? if a new game or sequal or revision comes out then is it not the fucking standard for the game? ie SF then ST(i know its widely availible), i mean comon. but thats not the argument here either, the staff have already decreed this is a console tournament and untill the genre has the money to generate a arcade scene we will not see the latest games at EVO, however you might see tekken 6 at Texas showdown 7 on arcade along with whatever else is knew at the time.
hmm after skimming the thread theres sum intresting points that have been thrown here and there and i agree wit sum but i guess heres my 2cents…
evo is sponsored this year correct? how come the sponsors cant pay for the cabs and such? i’m sure the sponsors wouldnt mind tossing an extra bit of cash to make the thing run smoothly right? 3-4 cabs should be sufficient as stated earlier. iuno, i guess i would think that the sponsors coulda helped out wit this issue. i mean there is an american version out that they could possibly get from namco if they pulled the right strings perhaps? of course if they cant help this situation then 5.o it is, nothing we can do about that i suppose… i jus find it kinda sad that the only real new game or newer version to evo will be slash and even that has a new format. however i realize that the console version of slash was released and made this possible. well well…regadless, evo will still go on…
It would be easy if Namco were a sponsor. Alas, it isn’t.
Oh Yeah for all the people bitchin about 5.0 at Evo don’t come stick with your standards i’m going for the 5,000.00 the less of you bastards there the better my chances.
Well, I guess this topic can be closed now.
Now that the $5000 first prize has been announced for Tekken 5.0 at EVO, nobody on Tekken Zaibatsu is posting anymore about “The Tekken Crisis at EVO.” They’re all too busy trying to talk with their feet so far up into their mouths that toejam is coming out of their noses.
For all of you that complained about DR not being at ECC or EVO, think about this: You COULD have been at ECC, practicing 5.0 in a tournament with hundreds of entrants. Getting ready for the biggest fighting game prizes in history. Instead, you’ll either be sitting at home, or in Philly playing DR with Jinmaster. Basically wasting your time and practicing for a game with no competitive future, due to cost and availability issues.
Hate to say I told you so…
No you don’t lol

I was playing tekken DR at super arcade today… getting some good wins in on good comp with my lei… but if that was Tekken 5 I would Get P OWNED … WHY? because T5 is unblanced to hell and isnt worth anything since DR came out, cannons should make a poll and everyone vote to see what tournament will be at evo… out of these TTT,VF,KOFwatever,SFA3,SFA2,SFA1,T5its only fair,T3c,pocket fighter and barney adventures because we all know the cannons love to throw random games in the mix lol
btw If its attention you want to bring to evo I think pocket fighter would suit well
psp=console
moveable console…=x
that… or your lei probably sucks balls? he is better in dr, true that… but please, tell me what super upgrades helped your dr game so much whereas it would have gotten you owned at 5.0.
WHAT>?< … iits not what super upgrades that helped my lei its the fact that everyone has super downgrades… go home scrub and btw ill take u on a money match at evo for 50 bucks.
