Since the one character I like to play Kazuya has been Mauled and butchered in 5.1 and DR. I don’t mind lossing in 5.0, as much as I hate adapting to DR. If the EvO staff can get DR great for everyone if not Nobiggie. I play more then one game.
Tekken 5 and Slash hardware is a hell of alot more expensive than a cps2 or cps3 setup. Good luck to anyone just trying to find the DR software for under $1000, and thats if you already have the hardware, which is another $2000+. Slash isn’t much different either. you are really misinformed and/or ignorant.
FOTNS will be at evo i hear, and it has, approximately, 0.000000000000000001% of the players of tekken.

we’re talking about multiple setups necessary here, not just one. to run t5:dr appropriately 3 or 4 cabs would be needed. That would be about $12,000 just to run tekken smoothly. it would have to be a combined effort from tekken players who would plunk down $3000 for a tekken machine, and then expect them to bring that machine to evo with them. It just dosen’t make any sense from a monetary stand point, or the simple fact that it’s just a hassle.
Another thing. how many people do you know have atomisware/system 258 setups? hardly any correct? How many people do you know have cps2/cps3 setups?
There are alot of obvious reasons why people don’t own these setups as well.
- Most of the games are ported to home console perfectly if not better.
- Hardware is expensive
Atomiswave hardware is cheaper than i originally thought. Newer software is still kinda expensive though. But getting FOTNS for under $1000 is prettry good.
As a Tekken player I fucking hate the idea of playing 5.0 again at evo. But at the same time i dont have have over 10000 to shovel out to play that shit either. So i guess well have to deal with the inferior game.
dsp. jinmaster is in no way in charge of THE tekken community. maybe in east coast, but i guarantee you he has no say over on the west coast. he is NOT the face of tekken. you are just bitter. most of the players that havent post will be going to evo regardless. there are good and bad of every community. gamers love to bitch. you should know this. dont hate on tekken, just bc we [not really me] bitch a lot. i am all about supporting evo and its causes.

It would be naive to assume that Namco or any other developer gives a crap about our(or anyone else’s) gaming community. They are a business like any other whose sole motivation is to increase profit margins by releasing games that will sell in large numbers. If a profit is to be made in releasing an update of a hit fighting game, that’s what they’ll do, if not, they could care less how it’s going to affect the fighting community. The only fighting community they care about is the mass of casual gamers who are willing to purchase their fighting games across the world.
The fact is, as far as sales are concerned, Tekken 5 on the PS2 flopped hard in the US, and it flopped even harder in Japan. Namco probably assumed that in spite of this, PSP consumers would appreciate a Tekken game on their system so releasing a DR port would be a good move. But all things considered, a PS2 port would just be suicidal. If no one bought the original for the PS2 why would they buy DR? Most people could care less about the mechanical upgrades in DR, and the hardcore fighting community isn’t going to support a worldwide PS2 release all on their own.
I know this isn’t really the point you were trying to make, but you have to realize that the fighting community is on it’s own. We can only make-do with what game developers are willing to give us, and that’s how it always has been and always will be. You already knew that EVO has made the switch to consoles, so they’re going to be limited by what games developers are willing to port. What do you propose is done about this? Would you really rather see Tetris DS in place of T5? Perhaps you should suggest a better alternative?

People like to bitch a lot, but Stormflower is right on the money. Can anyone honestly say that Evo has better Marvel players than ECC? At least for the finals, Justin, Sanford and maybe now Yipes are way, way above everybody else. Justin may lose one as a fluke, but Justin and Sanford together will never lose any tounrey to anyone; Its statistics, pure and simple. If theres no Sanford at Evo, Marvel sucks in comparison to any local NY tourney with Sanford AND Justin in the finals. Evo is cool to see how Mitsu is playing and all, but its not the top level of Marvel by any means.
while NY is top of marvel. i think places like cali have, overall, alot more top quality players at mvc2. but that is my opinion. and still think evo has more overall better comp for mvc2 as a whole, while when you goto ecc, you got jwo, sanford and yipes. yeah you got other good players like wigfall and such. but really, in my eyes, theres not a LOT of really top players on EC, and i think places like socal have a lot more of that overall. a lot more “scary” players, so to speak, to deal with. either way, ecc, and evo are both strong for mvc2. it cant be denied
I’ll have Rumble Fish 2 there as well. I’m pretty sure Deadly_Magneta will have his Atomiswave supergun with FotNS there as well.
