Whoa, come on now? You think I really like the Hori mold/footprint? We’ve been in the arcade stick market for LESS THAN A YEAR. We are rookies.
But we’re no whores. We aren’t going to whore out our products by doing dozens of different versions over the course of 5 years. Not my style.
You’ve seen me be vocal about this before in the past. I really wanted Hori to do something new, and I can’t help but feel that they didn’t do anything until someone else made them do it (steal 90% of the market from under them). So I’m happy that times have changed.
Well in terms of generating revenue, MadCatz seems to be doing well selling the TEs, so why not capitalize on it? From a business standpoint, if the demand is there, whore it out. But yes, I recognize that MadCatz stepped up and has only been a part of this niche for a year or so.
And you are right on the money with Hori. If MadCatz hadn’t created the TE, I HIGHLY doubt we would be seeing HRAP V’s right now. Hori has been plenty comfortable sleeping in beds of cash from they’re 16 million varieties of the HRAP and it’s about time they finally did some design work and gave us a product we’ve been asking for.
Yes, we may be doing well selling TE sticks. But we are in the arcade stick ‘business’… We will continue to bring new stuff to the table. Mark my words. 2010.
As much as I love cord compartments and hope they become standard on more sticks, I do wish the plastic doors were a little sturdier. This one also looks like it might snap off fairly easily.
I got mine today from play-asia. It feels quite noticeably lighter then the TE, which is making it little less stable on my lap. Here is an inside shot, excuse the bad quality I only have phone camera.
lol I’d say so, just a little. Unfortantely, the inside makes it look like a hollow, flimsy piece of plastic. The TEs seem much sturdier in terms of plastic thickness and empty space.
