I went back and looked at the sticks. Though I have an all Sanwa-swapped Madcatz SE, the 6 button layout on the VX/V3 is interesting. Especially the V3. Sucks that they are soldered buttons/stick, though. I think MadCatz is still winning with that SE with how easy it was to put in real arcade parts.
As for the HRAP V… only thing I think is kinda wack about it is the Start Button placement. That and I’m sure that the 360 will have that asinine Microsoft standard “rainbow” button setup as seen in the Hori sticks for that console (see: DOA4, Tekken 6, EX2).
Don’t see how the start button is going to be a problem. Isn’t it the exact same place/distance from the buttons on a vewlix cab? Haven’t really seen many videos of people hitting the start button instead of the punch/kick buttons.
Considering the deals that Amazon has run, I think I may wait for the domestic release of these sticks to hit sale prices. They look great but as Amazon has demonstrated with the HRAP3 SA and HRAP EX SE. They know how to slash them some prices.
Course it may be a good year+ till it hits those prices.
I guess we’ll see it eventually… the arcades didn’t have a pause when you pressed the start button… i’m thinking there might be a few people that slips their hand on that side.
Nice, might order a HRAP V in the future. And add 360 dual mod to it.
Couldn’t you just preform the old school lockswitch mod like on the te/se to stop the start button issue?
Much better than b4 where you had to drill a different set of holes if you didn’t want start so close.
I would love to think it’s something new, but if you’re referring to MadCatz, I would guess that they’ll run a different color of plastic through their molds, adds some new art, and sell another version as a limited edition. Round 1 TE, Asia PS3 TE, Asia 360 TE, Comic-Con TE, Marvel TE, Femme TE, Round 2 TE… they’re like Hori on speed.
But, I’ll hope for otherwise.
