Hori tekken 6 stick

if the parts are anything like the T5 stick, it shouldnt be too bad.
i had my T5 since day 1 and it didnt go out on me till about fall last year.
just dont play mvc2 on it. haha.

anyway, im probably gonna get one anyway. theyve got it at the Frys next to my work for 100 with the game. for 50 bux, it might be work having as a portable.

My buddy has owned it for little over two days and apparently the buttons have stopped working. Seems like a world of trouble…

Well, my only clue is the only review on the PS3 version on Amazon. It says it doesn’t work on PS2 games so now I have to cancel my order. Way to go Hori.

I actually like it. I played T6 (not that I am any good at it) and SF4 (at which I am decent) and they both played VERY well. Almost as good as my madkatz regular fight stick with Sanwa parts in it and replaced joystick.

not entirely hori to blame. its because sony wont let anyone else have the rights to use their bluetooth capabilities to cater to these things. i bet sony is going to make their own joystick or something and market that to their advantage or something.

After reading through this thread, and looking at some of the other joystick swap threads, it sounds like modding the wireless Hori might be a little work, but not overly complicated. Wouldn’t the procedure go something like this?

Desolder buttons from PCB, remove PCB, solder in new wiring with qd leads, file down button gate tabs, install Sanwa buttons, connect leads, and reassemble

The joystick swap is still an unknown, but does this otherwise sound correct? This seems like a relatively straightforward procedure. Obviously, it would be easier with qd connectors, but this doesn’t sound unreasonably hard. Am I missing something?

I’ve got an LS-33, and 8 PS-14-G buttons ordered from Akihabarashop. Well see how replacement goes when the arrive (hopefully my Tri-wing driver gets here before then).

so i finally got a chance to play with it. (PS3)

i was just testing it out on STHD for about an hour. so far what ive noticed out of the box are…

its really light
rounded edges make it easy to handle
buttons are sort of mushy (sort of like the hori fighting stick 3)
over all it reminds me a lot of the hori fighting stick 3 without the cord.

while playing with it, i was focused on stability and input response. input seems fine and i was doing moves without problems. but it shares the same problem as the hori fighting stick, it will shift as youre exerting lots of motion with the joystick. the “rubber” feet are just 4 circular foam pads that are glued onto the bottom… most likely going to wear out soon.
its very easy to set up, just plug in the dongle and press a button. i havent gotten a chance to really test teh distance of the signal or if i can power on the PS3 with the PS button yet (tho i doubt it, since the dongle wont be getting power when the PS3 is off).
the button assignment is the same as the SF4 SE stick and the button layout is the same as the T5 or HRAP sticks(you can probably see that in the pictures).
the plastic is sort of lowgrade compared to the plastic on the HRAP. the sticker art isnt printed on the same vinyl as the T5 stick, its actually more of a matte plastic and seems more durable than the old T5 art.

thats just my first impressions of it… ill test it out over the wknd.

ill confirm that you cannot power on the ps3 with the t6 stick. gotta power it up by hand then it reads the usb dongle as a controller.

the button layout is not the same as the t5 or hrap sticks. it is:
[] /\ r1 l1
X O r2 l2
the L buttons on the t5 hori were the leftmost. got moved to the right now, but ill plug em up wherever they are.

Has Toodles made any PCBs that are wireless compatible though?

That would be the axis adaptor.

Does anyone have a spare Hori shaft cover from the T6 stick that they wouldn’t mind sending me? I want one for my FS3. :wgrin:

I wish I could get my hands on one so I can work on some sort of dual wireless mod with either 360 or ps3 version.

I’m with you on that. I figured adding a wireless 360 pad to the PS3 Tekken Stick would be easier though. 1.) they both use 2 AA batteries. 2.) If memory serves (and often doesn’t) the later 360 wireless pad is common ground and the PS3 Tekken Stick looks to be common ground from the few pics posted

both stick versions will have there pro’s and con’s. Both points you made are true. What would make the ps3 -> 360 harder is that the 360 pad is bigger than a sixaxis board and will be a bit harder to stuff inside.

As soon as I can find a place to order 20pin flat flex cable + connectors from, I’ll get the common ground mod pcb design made. That should help out people with dual wireless modding. There will still be other difficult hurdles.

True it is bigger, but the extra board and components to combine common ground with non-common will make it almost even. Unless you found some amazing tight way to save space for the grounding conversion.

the board im making is only 2inches by 1.4inches big. shouldn’t be that hard to find a spot to place it.

So, I finished what needed to be done to my Hori t6 stick.

very simple, not to big of a mod but was really small work space!

enjoy, and thanks to insomnotek for the helping hand in this.

What exactly did you do?

I would also like to know too, also what parts did you use?
