Judging by the pictures, I think you’ll need to do more than a little grinding to make a JLF fit. It’s obviously a slim profile case, possibly slimmer than a FS3, and it’s using the same joystick as the FS3. Worst case scenario, you might end up having to drill a hole in the bottom of the case.
Though the good news about it having that joystick is you could just easily swap the micro switches and still end up with something comparable to a full JLF.
I did some training mode in SF4 with my Tekken 6 stick. The only thing noticeably bad was the upper diagonals seemed really unresponsive for the first minute or so. Once I warmed up to it I had no problems. It’s very light and compact, I actually rather like it! As primarily a Street Fighter player I just wanted a second stick for local 2p, I’ll gladly rock this one and let friends use my TE. And maybe I’ll learn to play Tekken…
I don’t know where all the hate for this stick is coming from…
I actually prefer this stick over my TE.
IMO the TE is too loose, the Tekken 6 stick feels like I’m more in control.
The hate comes from past let down from hori sticks. Its really simple the stick is a great start off point for first timer users, its light, lap size, easy to use. As for modding it…really a different story, your gonna need some tech help for the guys on srk.
That’s standard for Japanese arcade sticks. Those who like them prefer the looseness since it means that you can perform inputs with little effort requiring only minimal wrist and finger movement. Off course, to each his own (personally, I’ve played exclusively on Japanese candy cabs for over 15 years now, so I like 'em loose).
My friend recieved his T6 Hori bundle yesterday and we brought over my TE to contrast and compare.
Everything on this stick is plastic, it’s very very light. I thought despite the cheap parts it’s response was very good. The stick seems to have a spring closer to the LS-32 rather then a JLF but I don’t think it feels to stiff.
The stock Hori buttons are much better then the Madcatz SE stock buttons. They are not terrible by any means, but if your used to the light quick response from Sanwa’s you start to notice the difference in quality.
The case is ultra thin as well, reminds me of the old Hori VF Namco sticks. Sleek and slender, I rather like it.
Pro’s list
Small angled case
Decent stock stick and buttons
Light weight case
Convience to lug around to friends places
Con’s list
Tad overpriced
Batt operated wireless
Not an easy to mod for a novice
Feels cheaply made
Don’t go out of your way to get this stick, but if you want a decent stick to learn on and have kicking around the house I’d recommend it. Otherwise there are much better options out there and the board has plently of custom makers who could make something a lot nicer for you.
Alright, so if I’m looking at these pictures right then the 360 version has 2 pcbs and the ps3 only has one. Looks like modding the ps3 version will be harder since you apparently can’t toss away the pcb the buttons are soldered to. I have only made like one mod ever, so I don’t know what the solution to this would be. Hopefully someone will be kind enough to post a tutorial eventually.
People have interest in modding to make these sticks competition caliber, or to alter it to suite their playstyle etc.
There are tons of reasons why someone would want to mod this stick.
Ponyboy all day bro! makes for an easy swap too if you dont have a spare sanwa gate you can use the existing hori gate. There are 4 nubs that will fit snug in the holes of the microswitches (in addition to the 4screws if you’re worried about them wobbling)
Stay tuned on that one, homies been tuning the shop up :badboy:
I got my hands on one last night at GoogleMyName’s place in a game night in Orlando and it definitely feels in weight like the EX2, its not so bad if your just playing for fun and casuals but I would not begin to imagine why anyone would want this for tourney play.
I felt like I was going to break the stick most of the time we played.
bottom line will always be: Wired > Wireless
Wireless will always have:
Encryption
Transmit
Receive
Decryption
instructions before the button you hit is translated into action.
I say stick with your EX’s or your TE Sticks or perhaps your Arcade in a Box sticks…but thats just me ^_~
This stick is so convenient. I frequently have sessions at my apartment and wires get tangled up and caught on the various thing (like the coffee table) but this wireless controller is great for just passing it around.
Could people just stop comparing this to MadCaz TE?
Everyone could clearly see it even from the pictures that T6 and (SFIV) TE are totally in different caliber.
Only comparisions that is need to make is T6 - Ex2 - (SFIV) SE (- and maybe some older same caliber sticks).
Asked earlier more accurate details about art-“sticker”. So i ask again.
Is it similar to Ex2:s? Can you just peel it off and ad you own lamilabeled while you are doing other modifications.
Everyone compares their sticks with the TE it’s among the best retail sticks you can get out of the box, it’s also the most popular brand in the community. Sure nobody expects this stick to match-up but it’s a fair comparison and it’s possible to mod and manipulate to meet something of TE’s standards. May just as well compare it to top Hori sticks. But it gives people a fair idea of what to expect.
