Hori Soul Calibur V Arcade FightStick & Mad Catz Soul Edition!

Regarding the Front Page.
MarkMan would want you this instead of his Twitter.

Then I’m confused as to why the official US press release (which is still on their website) says it does not come with Sanwa parts.

Either the JP or US division of the company is wrong, unless only the US version of the stick gets stock parts?

Just sent them an email about this will post it up once they respond on this confusing matter, also added direct link to this thread for them to post answer to this if they so choose.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that it has Hori parts based on the simple fact that the stick Mark tried at NEC XII had Hori parts.

SRK is the best. lol.

Oh yeah, I’d prefer if you source sdtekken.com in the future. thanks.

So, hori or Sanwa buttons? Markman, anybody?

I thought everyone went over this already.

They are Hori buttons. And it even said on their site/in a press release.

Available for pre-order at an unreasonable £150

Not even any Sanwa or Seimitsu parts to help justify the price.

TE Round 2 sticks are £100 in comparison.

Ho hum…

…,h

Yikes! $214.53 heck of a markup zavvi.com got going on for pre-order they double the MSRP, this will probably go for $120.00 when released in US.

UK prices v US prices are pretty much always set at the same figure regardless of differences in actual value.

So if Zavvi’s price is correct, then the US retail price will be $150.

Okay thanks did not know still overpriced for what you get, wonder how the licensing negotiation was handled between Hori and Namco too pricey just for Soul Calibur V art. Maybe Hori did go back to the Namco good old days and made some quality Hori parts up to match or surpass sanwa and seimitsu for this arcade stick.

Surpassing Sanwa / Seimtsu quality?

Well… I suppose there’s a possibility, no matter how miniscule.

Typhoon,

I’m not laughing at you but at the notion that Hori is going to magically create parts that are equal to or better than Sanwa’s or Seimitsu’s…
They haven’t accomplished that feat in years.

That said… IF the Hori parts are easily removable (when they turn out to be inferior if that’s the case), then most of us have bookmarks to the parts vendors.

I get it and thanks that is why I stated maybe as adverb: possibly or noun: a mere possibilty. And who knows they might someday step up to the plate and produce pushbuttons that are great that is possibly someday and I think Hori is able to do this if they want mid-level arcade sticks with hori parts.

My god… it’s like an early Christmas pantomime.

It comes with Sanwa parts!

Oh no it doesn’t!

Oh yes it does!

: /

So they are using sanwa, man I wish they would release some of there seimitsu sticks over here.

The only difference between them are largely visual. I mean the size and height are issues… But hell, if this is our choice, then things are GOOD in the community.

Totally would go MadCatz though.

I would totally go with Sanwa parts if I were Hori…

The reputation of their own parts for the past 12 years isn’t good.

How many modders actually kept the original god-awful Hori buttons for the Tekken 5 sticks, FightSticks (worst offender by far in their line), and other licensed HRAP-lites? Most of us also ditched the non-JLF Hori sticks in the American T5’s, too.

At this point in time, I don’t think you can sell a premium Japanese joystick without Sanwa or Seimitsu parts and assure the majority of us that the knock-offs are going to be as good as Sanwas or Seimitsus.

The pricing on this joystick is likely to be over $100. Probably $120-$130 unless Hori does something “special” or sets it up as a mid-tier joystick like the Mad Catz SE. (I’m hoping it’s not mid-tier; full-Sanwa is the best option or at least an upgradeable path.) The form factor of the case doesn’t suggest it’s meant to be a low-level joystick.

It’s official press release has been updated on hori US site it will be sanwa parts indeed http://www.hori.jp/us/soul_c_press/.
