I just find it interesting the HRAP 3 SE is using the color scheme from the original HRAP SA.

Not really the same color scheme… The only common denominator is the black case and red buttons. They’re vastly different.

HRAP SA, HRAP 2, HRAP 3 all have Vermilion Buttons and Ball Top.
Only HRAP to have Red Buttons and Ball Top were:
HRAP Tekken 5
HRAP Fate/unlimited codes
HRAP Street Fighter IV
But by color scheme, you mean like Black Base and Silver Face Plate and Red/Red-ish (Vermilion)[It’s closer to Orange though] Buttons and Ball Top?
I’m not quite good when it comes to sticks, and especially importing them, though wondering, how much do you guys expect these sticks to be priced on regular import sites such as play-asia etc?
Just debating whether i should wait and go for this one, or simply order the HRAP3 from arcade shock and perhaps in the future swap out the buttons after some wear (be it seimitsu or sanwa replacements).
A HRAP3 (if in stock) is sold at $99 but this HRAP3-SE will probably be offered at $170+.
Unless you are fixed on having a HRAP with a Seimitsu LS-32 or simply want to add a special edition (and rare) stick to your collection, I say go for the HRAP3 cuz of the price advantage.
The only technical disadvantage of a HRAP3 is that you will not be able to drop in a LS-32 without heavy modification. So if you aren’t particularly interested in playing on a LS-32, then don’t worry about the SE. Just get the HRAP3, change up the buttons for Sanwa (or Seimitsu) ones (for around $25) and you have a arcade perfect stick.
I personally paid the premium and bought a HRAP3-SA but just trying to give you a objective opinion.
Thank you very much for the prompt reply Yangsen. At the moment I’m definitely leaning towards the HRAP3 but am also considering the SE as perhaps a somewhat birthday present for myself and commendation for finishing my exams (lol) Hate being so indecisive though! :@
Would be pure joy owning the SE, but i guess I’ll give myself a day or two more (pay comes soon),but most likely will just settle with a default HRAP3 and order in some buttons in a month or two. Again, thanks for the reply!
np man, glad you find my post helpful.
Personally, I bought a HRAP3-SA and kept it pretty much in stock so I can enjoy the ownership of a exclusive item.
but I also bought a HRAP3 which I use to satisfy all my modding curiosity - JLF w/ Octo gate, LS-56-01, OBSF, PS-14-K, PS-14-G and custom top with plexi cover, etc.
I use my HRAP3-SA as baseline to see what setup I actually like the best. I have friends over for SF4 so it’s fun to have two different kind of stick for comparison sake.
you aren’t suppose to. the HRAP3-SE is meant for Japan domestic market only…
Check out Khmerdroopy on the trading forums. He sells customer metal panels for the HRAP’s and i’m pretty sure he does the HRAP 1 layout.
From the Hori Store page:
?PS2?PS???PSone???
Looks like it won’t be backwards compatible…
Still should be a great stick though. Hopefully someone will offer preorders for importers soon.
Wish they would bring back the HRAP 1 button layout. I broke my wrist when I was a kid and that layout along with the Vewlix layout is alot easier for me to play with.
nice stick overall though.
Uhhhh, The vewlix layout is not that much different than the HRAP2/sega vs city layout.
What I wish for is that Hori brought out more of the original HRAP SA/SE sticks since they only had one round of those. Missed out on a HRAP SA 2 weeks ago.
That is a pretty nice stick for the price.
Japan Video Games is doing pre-orders on this stick…
$300 – YIKES!
Looks like HORI is feeling the Sanwa pinch, too.
That’s two Madcatz TE sticks…no thanks.
nice stick
That’s just saying it can’t be used on the older systems. However…
???PS2???
They don’t guarantee compatibility with PS2 software (on the PS3). That’s not saying it won’t work though.
Play-Asia also has the Hori RAP 3 SE on listing, too. Pre-orders haven’t opened up yet.
I suspect the other usual suspects will have pre-orders opening up later this week, too.
Who knows what the low-end pricing on the stick will be.
Nobody’s going to have this stick in the US for much less than $250 I bet…
JVG right now is the only importer with a firm price, like it or not.
I saw an auction for the RAP3 SE on the Japanese Kinya site for 17000 yen… that’s gotta be over $180 ballpark if I remember the conversion ratio. It’s gotten worse since the esteemed US government has devalued our dollar…
