Thanks!
Just wondering, since the original price from Amazon JP is 30,000 Yen. How much does Aki Shop price without shipment ? Anyone know ? Thank’s.
It is gorgeous, Nucking Futs! Congratulation ! Thank you for sharing the pictures with us !
As stated by Motoyuki, I purchased it from Aki shop. VERY smooth transaction so highly recommended! There were 2 options in addition to the price of the VLX Diamond they charge (33,500 Yen I think):
~$110 boat (3-4 weeks, no insurance & no tracking) or
~$190 air (3 - 5 business days, fully insured & tracking)
Altogether, I paid $625 (PayPal was very unforgiving for currency exchange rates despite what XE.com’s rates were that day) then you have to factor in customs charge of 5% (of 30,000 Yen I think Aki shop declared) which shouldn’t be more than $20 max. You’ll get that in the mail later from what I’ve been told. FWIW:
- Ordered & paid last Thursday
- They shipped last Friday from Japan
- Received this past Tuesday in Texas
You can also try Tenso as MarkMan suggested & Yokkataweb another poster suggested. However, that’ll take an additional 4 - 7 business days since they both don’t have it in-stock thus they’d have to order from Amazon Japan, wait for it to arrive (3 - 5 business days) then ship it to you probably 1 - 2 business days later.
I think Aki shop charged me 33,500 Yen but confirm with TheRealNeoGeo.
Thanks & you’re welcome! I love seeing pics of new sticks that’s not from the manufacturer all dolled up (aka real world environment).
I am soo pissed right now. I never knew the main body was brushed stainless steel That just looks soo nice damn it. I wish I tried to get one when I had the chance.
It’s funny because the red one actually looks better.
Lol, no I own both the original red vlx and the diamond as well, and the diamond looks way better.
I think the diamond would look best with white endcaps instead of dark blue.
Meh, to each their own. The VLX Diamond looks even better in person. It’s very hard to show the true beauty of brushed stainles steel in pics especially with my crappy photography skills combined with a cellphone’s camera, LOL!
Agreed! Gotta see it in person to appreciate it.
IMHO, that won’t look right. It’ll make it look kinda boring.
Sorry, I’m a noob so don’t eviscerate me… but can someone explain the prestige around these things to me, not trying to down-play them… I’m just interested in why the VLX is many people’s favorites thanks
I have the OG red one. I want this one too. The brushed metal part looks way better to play on than the OG one. The black paint rubs off a bit on it.
IMO, it’s prestige is due to it’s limited run, high build quality, and high cost. It’s what the original Madcatz TE could have been if cost weren’t such a factor. Matter of fact, there’s no commercial stick on the market that uses such high quality build materials. Its got a stainless steel control panel, a steel base, steel panel surround, a foam insulated fiberboard for comfortable lap play, and high quality plastics and fasteners.
It’s kind of like Hori’s daring someone one-up them.
It’s actually brushed stainless steel. Can’t speak for anyone else but it’s my fav stick b/c (in this order):
-
Brushed stainless steel panel looks GORGEOUS!!!
-
Love the size & weight of it!
-
Limited availability
Number one’s 95% why I purchased it. The black paint in both my OG red VLX’s hasn’t rubbed off that I’m aware of. I prefer to use it on a table instead of my lap so the bigger & heavier the better, And no, I don’t want to put rolls of coins in other sticks to make them heavier, LOL!
Couldn’t agree more on this. Well said by Nucking Futs!
From the picture itself it looks like the red VLX is a better looking sticks. But when you see it in person VLX diamond is far more outstanding due to its brushed stainless steel panel. I wish I can change my red VLX to brushed stainless steel panel as well and see which one has a better looks, LOL!
I just joined the diamond owners club xD. In my case, after placing an order myself from Amazon.co.jp, I used the following forwarding service website,
No handling fee, and 5% off EMS shipping fees (the regular EMS cost is the same as in Tenso.)
The overall experience was smooth, taking only a day for their processing, and the total cost is 3000 yen (original amazon price) + 13300 yen (5% off 14000 for 9.2kg package) = 43300 yen, which is little less than $550.
I don’t know why, but I didn’t have to pay customs. (It just was delivered to my place. )
As looking at the stick, brushed steel looks so gorgeous. Now, contemplating how to dual-mod this baby and whether to sell the original VLX or not.
Probably, PS360+ would be the best and cleanest option, I think. Also, Remora and 8 ArcEye3’s are waiting for white OBSC-30’s to arrive from Akishop. Will post some pics after going through these mods…
Thanks! Hmm, brushed s/s would look pretty nice with the OG red VLX. Getting a couple new parts for the Diamond so will post new pics once I get everything in.
Congrats, good deal there! Yeah, I didn’t receive any customs fees yet but I hear I’m suppose to get it later. However, it’s been a few weeks yet still nothing. Oh well!
Thanks, man. You are the one that actually led me to this impulse buy lol. Anyways, did you dual-mod it? If so, I’m curious which route people take.
LOL, you’re welcome! Been there done that with other members pics on here too! I think the last one was seeing an Arcana Heart 3 HRAP V3-SA pic on here so had to have it, haha!
Nope, I didn’t dual-mod it b/c I don’t have a 360. If I were to ever get a 360 (still looking for a good deal on a new GoW3 red console bundle!) then I’d probably do PS360+ also.
BTW, I’m keeping both my OG VLX’s. I just got the 2nd one recently so that’s my daily stick now (then again, I rarely have time to play anything nowadays but you get my point) & the 1st one I just converted into an all-Seimitsu translucent red VLX with Qanba red button plugs.

Nucking Futs i must say you have done a great job with those Pictures as u got me too
but then Again the vlx looks awesome.
I have yet to buy it but it is now in my must buy sticklist
