Hori Hayabusa unboxing + mods!

I tried over and over. It is still off. I wonder if my housing \ gate was just a fluke and there was an error in the process of mass production. I generally like the JLF but I am going to try to apply the @moonchilde lever technique to a JLF and see how that feels. If anyone has any other ideas for my hayabusa let met know…

@sethian0 - Pics, please.

Pics wouldn’t help. Everything is seated fine. when I hold down on the switches with my hand and the gate off everything works great. As soon as I put the gate on I have to wiggle the screws and push the switches in a little. Even at this point, looking at the stick upside down all the levers appear even but when I do a quick dash 2 of the directions work fine, but the other 2 don’t disengage.

The housing and stuff fits together fine and doesn’t look crooked, I just couldn’t think of anything else. Let me know if you still want pics and I will take them tonight.

Thanks!

I would love to test Hayabusa but I assume that there is no way to buy it from abroad, which would send it to Finland.

I’m thinking about setting up a paypal fund to get people in Canada Hayabusa’s. Unfortunately I wouldn’t know how to handle a Europe fund because of stupid stuff like VAT ruining everything.

Good idea. I have been toying with the idea of trying to help a few UK doods but I’m intimidated by all the extra crap that comes with EU shipping.

If shipping to UK doesn’t include VAT then that would be the best solution actually. Maybe pool together a Europe fund, bulk ship them to @b15sdm if he’d be down for it and maybe he could then distribute them.

@FreedomGundam would you be interested in receiving a bulk Hayabusa order and sending them out?

What would be the easiest way to do something like this?

you guys obviously know better. might not be helpful. but these are Hori’s own list of Hori products where Haya-Kuro are instantly compatible.

if you have a keen eye, they pretty much spoiled a new stick model on that list. well it’s not new, but has only been sold in one store these past few months and nobody seems to have noticed it was released.

Engrish Version

Haha, thanks. I know for a fact though that it can be installed in PS3 RAP since JLF fits in, minus mounting plate. It has to be mounted direct to the metal.

I am not saying the chart is right, its what I got from the link hibachifinal gave and having the page run though Google Translate.
This is Hori’s List. Obviously the Official tech Talk list will be different.

“Haha, thanks,” wasn’t sarcastic, it was a legitimate haha, that’s cool and thank you for translating because I was too lazy, lol. I wonder why Hori denies it’s mountable in the RAP series?

The old Hraps?
The JLF mounts without the mount plate so they were unsure how to replicate that with the HAYABUSA

@Moonchilde
I’d have no problems being a hub for Eastern Canada, and although I haven’t completed my own order yet, I didn’t seem to be able to order more than 2 Hayabusas or 2 Kuro sets when I tried to get them shipped to my cousin in San Francisco…

Tech Talk’s list will be like… “Yes” to everything except the Fighting Stick Mini.

Hayabusa has the same mounting holes as the JLF though so I don’t know why they ignored that. Oh well. Hopefully that doesn’t hurt Hayabusa sales, but then I don’t know many people playing on RAP anymore when you have all the other options that begin with F or V

@FreedomGundam cool, thanks, I guess it’s something I’ll have to look into. Hopefully we can order more than two. I wonder if it’s only during the initial launch phase, to make sure they have enough product on hand?

for the 360 sticks.
its mainly because of the non-common ground pcb. the JLF’s were TM’s, not TP’s, loose micros. etc. same goes for the SE’s. so no-5pin.

might be risky to encourage people to do solde/crimp work :v

Wow, i almost got a heartache with the list :frowning: i bought this month a hrap3, would like to upgrade to a Hayabusa

To be fair,

There are still plenty of people who prefer the older style HRAP’s. I personally like the Astro City button layouts better on those cases but plenty of people (including me) have HRAP-lite variants or even own the older HRAP 1 models with the “mirror” faceplate.
The older HRAP’s still have comfortable bases. As old-fashioned as they may seem for being 10 years old, they still have better stick clearance (IMHO) than most of the HRAP’s being made today as well as a lot more interior space without all the plastic dividers and cramped spacers that the HRAP V3/VX and (to a lesser extent) HRAP N3/NX have.

It’s a thought that I might install Hayabusa’s in at least one or two of the HRAP’s I own that don’t end with a “V” or “N”… I have an HRAP 3 SA that I might trick out with ALL the new Hori parts. I know the Hayabusa will fit in that joystick just fine.

It was the HRAP’s that don’t have the universal mounting bracket that were my concern seeing as I own a Japanese white HRAP 3. (That same HRAP 3-J is the one I have my LS-58 installed in… I tried playing with it again over the weekend. Utterly disappointing control lever IMHO… I’m thinking the case would work much better with an H-stick!) I knew the H-stick would install with its mounting plate in place even if there was a good chance of ending up with short shaft clearance above the HRAP faceplate. It was a surprise to me that you said it would install WITHOUT the mounting plate in place! I had to check the pictures you snapped and posted earlier to see that Hori had left H-base screw holes in the same position as the JLF “wing mount” area.

I didn’t want to remove my one Hayabusa from the HRAP N3 just to confirm this…
Very interesting, Hori! Very interesting!

5 minutes later…
AND I went ahead and checked on something…
Removed the baseplate of the Hayabusa and looked inside.

With a stock JLF in-hand, it does look like the H-base duplicates the wing mounting area on the JLF’s base down to the approximate height/width of the plastic that the Hori mounting bracket screws slip through.

The H-stick is indeed universal as far as the PS2 and PS3 HRAP’s are concerned!

If Sam/B15SDM is interested in stocking them, that would be amazing. Be nice to be able to take my business to him again.

just loaded up the Hori JP store, they’ve got the Hayabusa levers and Kuro buttons up for order now, with a 22nd February date for first round of shipments.
