It’s a great stick you will really love it.
I’ve been out of action for a month because my CR was going in and out on me. With P4AU coming up, I need to “get back in the shit” as they say.
@Moonchilde - Do you still consider the Hayabusa to be your favorite stick (I believe I read that a while back…might not be current)? I’ve been around the block and tested a number of different sticks, configurations, parts and mods and I’ve simply circled back around to the LS-56 being perfect for me. I’m glad that I did take the time and spend the money to really research everything as I am now 100% confident in my choice. But I am also always willing to hear current opinions.
@Moonchilde prefers JLW. He actually converted me to JLW after Evo. The Hayabusa is still damn good. One of the best IMO. I still own multiple sticks with Hayabusas and have no plans of letting them go any time soon.
I never did pick up a JLW. I guess I’ll do a bit of googling/youtubing and see what it’s like.
I’ve just run into this exact same thing with mine, which kind of sucks because I really liked how it felt other than those hitches. I need to pick up some sandpaper and see if I can get it to where I don’t run into that.
NENDO pretty much hit the nail on the head. JLW is my favorite stick. It’s the only stick I am playing stock. I’ve even reverted from my short throw mods with it, I like it how it is.
Hayabusa is still a great stick. It and the LS-40 are tied for 2nd place for me, but both kind of need mods for me to really enjoy them. In Hayabusa’s case I like the feel of a stronger spring in it and for the LS-40 I like a shorter throw.
I never thought I’d see the day a Sanwa stick became my favorite stick based off my experiences with the JLF, but that’s how it is.
Hey guys,
Can someone let me know if the Hayabusa will fit in the HORI KAI?
I’m sure it will fit since they are both made by HORI after all but just wanted to make sure. Thanks!
Yes, it will.
Thanks for the quick reply NENDO. Appreciate it!
@Moonchilde Is the throw/return to neutral further than that of the LS-56? I definitely wouldn’t mind trying it out but if it feels like the JLF or even the Hayabusa I’ll simply pass.
-edit- Never mind. If that image from slagcoin is to be trusted it stated that the engage distance is far with the throw being short. That seems…strange to me. I’m curious now heh.
I guess it looks like if I ordered one from PAS to get it working in my frankencatz TE-S I’d need a wiring harness and a mounting plate adapter. Well, at least they have the option for aluminum bat tops and circle gates for it which is my other requirement.
It feels nothing like the other sticks at stock settings. Don’t know how to describe it otherwise. If I get some free time I could double check the actuator size and spacing with the microswitches, but honestly I would just try the stick. If you don’t like it, you can probably sell it off easy.
I got my Hori V4 on Monday and after two nights I think the Hayabusa is nice. I ordered a set of Omron microswithches with levers to try out. I have some trouble finding the diagonals and sometimes dashing feels like a pain compared to the JLF. The distance to engage feels longer to me.
I think the mod needed is a larger actuator or the switches with levers! Soon I’ll have both the options to try out o:)
As a side note, I don’t yet like the Kuro buttons. They feel sticky, the plunger tends to drag against the rims for some reason. Not reliable enough feeling to me but I’ll just keep practicing anyway. Cheers!
Kuro is known to do that until they break in. Most reports are once broken in, they no longer drag.
Oh ok, thanks! Weird should they act like that.
I’ve confirmed that the engage is longer than a JLF. I did a JLF gate mod to mine, tried to use one of my short throw octagon inserts. Couldn’t reliably hit diagonals (as in missing them ~30-40% of the time) using a kowal actuator, whereas that combo works great on a JLF.
Kuro buttons were designed with less space between the edge of the plunger and the rim. According to Hori this is to “reduce wear by up to 60%”. Im not exactly sure how they worked that out but thats what they told me via email when I asked about it.
I absolutely hated them when I got them. Switched them out for Sanwas. Kept them on my secondary stick for meet ups. Got around to playing them after they’ve had been used a bit and fell in love with them. Takes a bit of time but I do prefer them over new and old sanwas.

That doesn’t sound right. The switches are almost identical and I’ve even swapped the insides with JLF switches and vice versa. On top of that the pin plungers are the same size and the switches mount at identical measurements. Might have more to do with the gate than anything.

reduce wear by up to 60%
More like increase wear by 60% right right right??
