Hori Hayabusa unboxing + mods!

Oh wait, my bad, the pivot is one of the few things I like in the JLF, its almost like butter.
I think the older metal pivot in the JLW is better

Its everything else I find on the JLF is “Blechk”

Oh I ordered a 2nd Hayabusa for my Razor Beta stick, going to put a link, a Black aluminum ball top, 3 lbs spring and Phreak’s JLF Link on it.
I’ll take pictures

I finally got around to putting a Kowal actuator in the H, same effect as on the JLF (smaller dead zone, shorter throw). I just wish it was made from the same material as the stock H actuator. Any chance one of you has a metal Kowal you’re looking to sell?

That Kowal actuator doesn’t effect throw. Only engage. Also, the design of it doesn’t allow for the same type of engagement of the switch since it doesn’t maintain the angle that the stock parts display. This makes it inferior to other actuators that do.

Feels like it reduces the throw to me.

As far as proof goes, short of sending you one, the best evidence I can provide lies in the O.D. measurements. I measured the O.D. of both actuators (stock JLF and Kowal) at the point where the plastic hits the gate, the Kowal is .475" and the JLF is .427". Stock H actuator has the same O.D. at that point as the stock JLF. So yes, the throw by definition is reduced by .048". Granted, .048" isn’t a huge gap, but it’s definitely noticeable when you spend much time with a stick.

I stand corrected. Still seems negligible.

Paradise Arcade does sell oversized derlin actuators for the JLF.

It would reduce throw because if the actuator is bigger the stick isn’t going to go as far because the actuator hits the gate sooner so the stick cant go any further. I used a kowal actuator, both plastic and metal, and end of the actuator kept hitting top of the gate.

Kowal shmowal. Those actuators are way overrated.

I’ll try one of theirs out (and take measurements) the next time I order parts. Jasen said something about them working on an adjustable actuator, that seems like the way to go.

I finally got the Hayabusa today and I’m in love with it. Now my Hori Stick is almost perfect. off topic question does anyone know the type of bolts that the hori SCV stick has on the art plate? because i lost one today :frowning:

Got my Hayabusa yesterday but I have been having some problems with it when I installed it into my Soul Calibur V: TE stick. It has a weird snagging issue when I move the stick in random directions. I checked the area and saw it was clear of obstructions and the installation was clean cosmetically. But the snag happens each time still. I have recently installed the Hayabusa into my Virtua Stick: High Grade to see if it did the same thing, but it feels perfectly normal in the VS:HG. But when I put it back in the SCV:TE it gets a weird disengage snagging going on something, but when I check there is nothing there. I don’t understand it. Does it have something to do with the mounting differences? The throw is also twice that of a normal Sanwa when I installed it in my VS:HG and SCV:TE. But when its in a Hori Stick, (fighting edge) it feels perfectly fine with a smaller throw.

Its confusing to me at this point, and I feel like I think I may have made a bad investment by buying this stick for the cases I have. Any one have any suggestions what it could be?

TL:DR Hayabusa snagging/disengaging feeling, SVC:TE Clear install no obstuctions. VS:HG installation just fine. Both have huge throw range compared to installed Hori Fighting edge. What do?

The only thing I can think of is the mounting height… but SCV:TE is JLF so there shouldn’t be any issues… Can you take a picture of the Hstick installed in SCV stick?

Here is the SCV:TE I installed it in.

I used standard Sanwa JLF mounting and it fits fine.

I made the proper modifications to get it to fit. Clipped the plastic, and moved the PCB down a tiny bit so that fits.

Image from underneath, nothing is obstructing the actuator/shaft itself.

There is still plenty of room between the tip of the Shaft and the bottom of the case.

Yet, it still snags or something, each time I move to a direction it will stop…click… then move to activate the microswitch. But yet returns to neutral without a problem. And it isn’t always the same direction. Sometimes it will be one direction, then the other, it randomizes.

I not getting it, I have the same SVC stick, the same Hayabusa and I not getting this issue.

I installed it in my Virtua Stick: High Grade. No snagging whatsoever and it moves perfectly fine. But the SCV:TE it always has the same issue. No idea what the problem is so far.

It doesn’t snag when the top plate isn’t mounted on the rest of the stick right? I don’t have an SCV but I remember the hstick being very snug (bulging even) in my TE-S.

Looking on my phone, so I can’t see the details, but did you try removing the inner dust washer?

Thats an interesting suggestion, I hadn’t thought of it. But I did remove the inner dust washer and it still had the same effect. I’m guessing it just wasn’t meant to be.

@Ramon - No. You shouldn’t be having any issues with this install. Please advise if the same issue is present when the top panel is disconnected from the case.

The issue was the same even when it was separated from the case. BUT the issue isn’t present when I had it in my VS:HG to test it out, whether panel was disconnected from the case, or fully assembled. I’m wondering if maybe a tighter spring will help out and keep everything more in place.
