anyone have some experience with rose’s u2? Wondering what there is to do (if there is anything?) other than block.

Anything that hits her while you still have invincibility will nullify the ouroboros and leave you safe. Well timed ex headbutt vs. a jumpin works well, I guess Ultra 2 or ex butt drop would also work. Beyond that, Sanford threw a Rose (don’t recall who) out of it at startup same as you might with a 'sim doing U1 at point blank range. I haven’t actually succeeded (or even attempted) anything other than the ex headbutt though, so caveat emptor and such.

Also would like to add a note here in this match up… Honda’s nuetral jump roundhouse owns vipers fierce thunderknuckle.

It completely beats it… my best friend mains viper, so I get a lot of practice with this match up, lol. Though lately he has gotten tired of me whoopin him… so he is picking up sim :frowning: lol.

Hi, just wanted to ask the Honda mains what can I do to punish a reversal LK buttsplash if I’m Akuma? That’s the biggest thing giving me trouble if I walk up cr.LK on a fallen Honda on wakeup as Akuma, and would appreciate advice from the other side since Akuma forums weren’t very helpful on this matter, thanks in advance.

I got your back my friend, first off the only wake up game you might want to play with Honda is a well spaced Dive kick to interrupt his Torpedos or Safe Jump. For the most part you want to keep Honda out and make him struggle to get to you. (Zoning)
2ndly You can Focus Sumo Splash while it’s descending and punish or Reversal Dragon Punch. I think you can pop Super to punish it as well but I’m not 100% sure if that works or not.

lol only EX SRK has invincibility. Nothing else does (Tatsus may be throw invincible but whoop de fucking doo).

c.HP is a really good AA, but it’s pretty easy to empty jump. Her fireballs are pretty trashy too in terms of startup and recovery. I haven’t had issues with her j.HK beating lp.HB, but I’ll have to look into that.

Thanks for the reply, it’s not the normal sumo splashes that bother me since I focus dash to punish, it’s the reversal ones that break focus, like the ones on wake-up, and even in blockstrings when I’m pressuring, those give the most trouble.

And zoning Honda? Tips on how to deal with jump fierce, thanks in advance.

Whats up with Guy’s Air throw (or flip throw or whatever the heck it is)? Feels like a dang glitch to me. I’ve seen a lot of players turtling / running with him and I’m gettin the feeling he’s going to be a significant thorn in my side. :frowning:

if the rose player wakes up into a meaty throw (throw is active and touches her throwable box) + does a reversal U2, she can still jump out of it. she just has to recognize the throw startup animation.

How do you beat Guy’s elbow drop move? Whatever it is. The incredibly gay one. You know what i’m talking about.

EX HB loses laughably. LP HB sometimes gets through but not reliably. ST FP is meh…

I keep losing to crappy Guys who figure out I have no answer for this pressure except 50/50 guessing when he lands. Hate hate hate.

EDIT: You can focus it into oicho or cancel and backdash, that’s a start…

I have a quick question, does Honda’s Headbutts go through Juri’s low fireballs the same way he goes through Sagat’s low tiger shots? Sorry if this is a noob question, but none om my irl friends play which makes it difficult to test it out.

Yes it does… and there is something called training room.

Sorry, I wasn’t aware you could make the cpu perform specific actions in the training room. I’ll be sure to make use of that in the future. Thanks for the help.

Which HB are you talking about? Since there’s no matchup threads you could have posted that important information. I’d assume LP since EX gets beat more often the way I time it now.

I don’t like meeting it in the air because I can’t distinguish between that and his air throw. The risk/reward seems in his favor there damage wise. I am very familiar with this tactic though for beating, say, Akuma’s demon flip or Vega wall dives.

Blocking seems to put him in a frame advantage situation and also succumbs to his air throw which delightfully also throws you if you’re standing (I don’t know if it’s two different throws or one, the Guy forums are a total mess).

Late HB does seem to usually work, but since the only Guy players I play are online, the timing is very difficult for me.

I know I can do those things you listed but with the exception of getting down the HB timing, I’m still right where I started, since I don’t think they are very good options, especially blocking. Thanks anyway though.
