Honda Match-up Thread: After the war 2010 AE

After I posted up here on how this thread is bull shit, I never came back to see a response to it. I loled so hard when I saw this. Don’t you think thats pretty mean SNK? Btw you up for some matches? I really could use some help with the Honda match up and some tips on what to do against gay characters like Sim and Chun with Honda. Sorry about saying this thread is “Ass”, at the time I posted that I got my ass handed to me by Juicebox… I’m still learning tho =D

Lol you never showed me how to play against neither of those characters. You’re lucky capcom listens to scrubs and makes dumb decisions.

i played against some more hondas later and i did a lot better. i don’t think trying to keep a continuous scissor pressure like i was trying earlier is worth it at all because even if i land a knockdown honda only has to guess right once and i lose a crapload of health, although occasionally it’s useful to loop if i’m outside your c.lp range. i also realized that the shoryuken killing setups i was trying are pretty damn pointless on honda because of the autocorrect ex headbutt, and it’s best to just do a traditional safe jump. anyways let’s play again, playing lame and avoiding oicho throws sounds fun

  1. It can store energy to do ultra 1, sumo splash, head butt after vertical Jump Strong
    Punch.

  2. To add some invincible frames for ex hundreds hands

  3. The forward distance of the medium, fierce hundred hands can be increased

  4. Overhead Attack (Shikofumi) can step down all kinds of antiair techniques including shoryuken or add some invincible frames for it.

Ultra 2 must be increased the catching range like abel, zangief

Pretty much the most broken list of suggested balance changes I’ve ever seen :lol:

some distance on hands wouldn’t be awful, not a whole lot but, its annoying that some characters can’t be hit by hhs->s.rh (rose,sakura, sometimes guile when he’s standing)

if we’re getting a damage nerf I’d like it so my combos atleast work on everyone instead of having to memorize what works on who and whether I have to burn a bar or do c.mkxxhands or whatever.

I think that first on the list is to make NJ strong a juggle move? that’d be so godlike :frowning:

I really hope honda’s one of the next groups on the AE blog, I’m itching to find out what’s going on and what capcom’s doing with honda, if anything at all

Hmm that’s an interesting idea, I always thought Honda needed a move to juggle besides buttslam. But what were you thinking you’d juggle him with afterwards? Just another normal? I imagine you wouldn’t have a charge quickly enough to juggle with headbutt

Well gents, looks like next week is the week we find out what changes. As long as they change U2 to HCBx2 and don’t nerf his damage too much, I’ll be satisfied.

if you’re charging on your way up, you might be able to do headbutt or possibly ultra, or maybe a NJ strong C.fierce reset into oichio or hands or whatever

I don’t expect this change, let’s just hope we make it out of this in good shape, I’m preparing for the worst here though, I don’t want to drop the world’s sexiest sumo :frowning:

Given the high risk to do a normal c.tech during the pressing of cammy’s CS, it might make sense to do a c.tech with c.lp + c.lk + c.mp as Ryu does?
Has anyone tested it before?

do what I do: tech with EX headbutt!!(if she has super don’t do this) lk splash also frees you from the tech-guessing game but don’t get predictable, if you miss an EXheadbutt (she baited you and neutral jumped or some shit) you’re eating ultra and if you get a splash baited you’re eating at least a sweep or some kind of drill combo into mixup city

Mix up your reversals, headbutt beats backdash and lk splash beats jumps. so trying to bait anything really isn’t in her favor unless you have no meter and have a record of splashing a lot.

I’ve tried it before, there is a problem though because honda’s C.MP is slow as hell (8 frames?) where as ryu’s c.mp is like 4 frames, you might trade/eat the CH anyways because your move is so damn slow, at least those are my results, you also put yourself at risk for a cs.mp CH setup because your startup is so long - maybe do it a bit early? give it a shot and tell us your results…it didn’t work out for me and you might still get thrown anyways because you timed your tech differently.

getting thrown in this matchup sucks too because of stupid divekick tricks after a knockdown. aswell as it being difficult to anti-air her without meter, even if you do have meter I get my headbutt stuffed all the time by EX dive or a delayed regular dive, I still feel this one is like 6/4 or 5.5/4.5 honda though, just keep that ho away from you and you should be fine, if she jumps try to do your headbutt pretty late because he’s probably gonna divekick - you can also force a trade with s.hp (judge the distance and timing so you don’t get divekicked) which is in your favor and keeps her away (you may even get lucky and beat her cleanly)

also we’re up for changes next week, I’ll bet anyone in this thread 50$ EXheadbutt gets like 50 frames of recovery tacked on aswell as all normal headbutts being -400 on block

Lovegety Station in Toronto, Ontario, Canada will be getting 8 SSF4:AE cabinets (4 set ups) in December, so I’ll be able to give you guys specific balance changes (the translations we’re getting gloss over details because of time constraints) and lots of match footage.

I kinda liked it when Honda was low tier (or considered that way) and didn’t get so much attention so dudes would stop calling him broken.

I’d take a damage nerf for a larger hitbox for butt slam (i can’t count how many times I’d meet another character mid air only to rub up against them) or more invincibility with jab headbutt.

My godsend vs the Cammy up here in Seattle (Bokkin) turned out to be both MK buttslam as an AA, and EX. EX beats her EX dive clean and MK will sometimes trade which is beast considering the moves. I still have a little bit of trouble, but it really is just a matter of mixing up your options as safely as you can, and learning to block normal until she hits the point of no return, then block that crossup!
