Save us from sim! I’m not gonna lie flip champ raped me at evo. Five games straight, I think I only won a few rounds. anyone know what charge character has the best chance against him?
probably Claw or Dictator.
Yeah, my secondary is dicator…mainly picked him just so I can deal with sim and chun… though dictator is mainly for sim. Took me a while to get used to him though… his dash is so freaking fast compared to honda’s, lol.
Blanka does well against sim too, just not against champ… he’s blanka proof lol
champ has told me he hes very good with all charge chara’s. u just have to be clam and really punish his mistakes.
Can I ask what the “Before the war” is referencing in the title of this thread?
I’m a man of many metaphors and quotes. It’s actually something I cooked up from Layer Cake.
The saying goes. Ahem… Before the War… Before Daniel Craig… 25 Years ago…
Went up against Checkmate, one of the best, if not the best Ryu player I’ve fought.
What. The. Fuck. Am I supposed to do in this matchup? He’s telling me I have to do more well-timed jump-ins, but I told him that his AA options are way too many, and sure enough, pretty much every jump-in was DP’d. Not even a trade, just a flat out snuff.
I have absolutely no clue as to how to even get in. If I approached him from the ground, it was c.mk --> fireball most of the time, therefore pushing me back and putting me on the defensive. If I turtled it out to try and make him come to me, he threw fireballs all day, and if he got in, it was tick throws, or 50/50 mixups for a shitton of life. Hell, I couldn’t even reversal ex headbutt jump-ins, because his j. hp popped my headbutt FROM THE BACK.
Help, please. 12 games in a row and I didn’t even take a round. At this point I don’t even wanna play.
^^^ counterpick.
Against the c.mk xx hadoken, chop the shit out of him with st.FP. He won’t want to take a counter hit st. FP over if you do it correctly(130+ damage). About the jumping part… don’t. Don’t even cross up because all ryus know how to auto correct DP. You really need to know how to do jab xx HHS for this match. Mix-up the ochio throws too. 180+ damage is a lot. nj.FP fireballs, don’t be predictable with them either. Save your meter for super in this match up and try to punish fireballs with that. No good ryu will be stupid enough to throw fireballs when you have ultra 1, you have a better chance with super since it has more invincibility frames. Oh yeah when ryu is on you, the most you should worried about is overhead, just as long as you’re late crouch teching.
I think when you have a match-up like that against a player like that, it comes down to patients and mind-games. See if you can bait out some moves and make him screw up like baiting out a SRK with NJ Fierce. I usually try to corral Ryus into a corner and work their asses, but I don’t know if that’ll work on a high level player. It probably won’t. Good luck though.
How do you deal with option select pressure on your wakeup? I play against another Abel player who relentlessly OS’s my Honda on every knockdown. He crossup safejumps to kill my charge. I end up having to just block and OS tech if I don’t get caught in a tick TT.
Is this all I can do in this scenario?
auto correct ex-hb works just fine.
OS tech vs abel… what? stop
Ah, yes…the wake-up EX headbut. A fine option if ever there was one.
In general I don’t think AC EX headbutt is something I should be doing all the time. Sure if he times his jumpin poorly it works, but if he safejumps properly and deep, there’s not really a way to reversal.
option selects destroy wake up ex headbutt…
From Abel?
Which is what I was inquiring about in the first place…re: How do I deal with OS pressure on my wakeup…
If I remember correctly, abel does have a option select roll into U2
Hiryu02… pretty much the way that I deal with option selects is being able to read them, if my opponent gets a untechable knockdown on me, and if he goes in for a jump in attack… I am automatically going to assume that he is going to option select me… so I just pretty much block, and be ready to tech a tick throw set up.
Other than that, I really dont know what to do when it comes to option selects =/
That’s precisely the conclusion that I came to myself. However, I figured that because I’m just a novice Honda that I would inquire here to see if there was a strategy or technique to dealing with them that I wasn’t aware of. Thanks for clarifying.
