great video, i practically never did the HHS until i made a stick and saw this video, and this technique got it down for me to the point of finishing the hard trials. now for the challenge of integrating it into my (primarily counter-attack) game.
one question though, i figured i’d ask it here: when i play online, it’s almost impossible for me to still consistently pull this off against shotos, as they can interrupt it with their shoryukens like nothing. is this from doing something wrong, like not jumping in deep enough when linking it from a j. fierce, or is it because shoryukens can actually interrupt this and shoto players tend to mash out shoryuken motions at the first sign of damage?
the reason why i’m not sure is because i get interrupted from either the cr. jab or during hands itself (maybe the tail end of the animation?), both of which seem pretty consistent.
If you don’t do it fast enough, there’s a gap between the jab and the HHS because you miss the cancel. Also, if you get your c.lp blocked, there is a small frame gap even if you cancel the hand slap perfectly. Against scrubs like this, just jab and block, then punish. Most online shitties mash SRK like retards.
Even though I look like a dumbass, getting a pool glove and using it during play has helped me land HHS extremely consistently. Very little friction makes c.lk, c.lp xx hhs especially easy. I get a lot of stares though, but winning is the only thing that matters so who cares :X.
We have a pretty good Gen player here in Utah that uses a glove so he can mk into hands. We give him a hard time about it, but it’s all out of bro-love.
No bagging on the slide method, clearly better players than myself use it. But I think if people just gave the piano method a few days to sink into muscle memory they would find that it is just as fast and much more controlled.
I can do piano method with decent consistency, but honestly it makes my hand hurt after a while and it just requires extreme concentration/intensity to hit 5 buttons in that short of a time period. Like you can’t be lazy and just expect it to cancel all the time.
I’m the exact same way… sometimes when I do c. mk >HHS my fingers just lock up after the second input and nothing happens. When my hand’s tired I try to do heabutt cancels instead, but the crazy thing is sometimes c. jab >f. HHS will come out when I’m just trying to jab. I also find myself accidentally pianoing when I’m using other characters too. But when I actually think about it it doesn’t always come out right. It’s almost like it has to happen so fast that you have to trust your muscle memory and you can’t think about what you’re doing.
omg…not 10 mins ago i had Jab xx HHS, jab xx HHS on LOCKDOWN. I was doing it easily for a good 30=45mins STRAIGHT
i even made a couple vids of myself doing it. very consistent
now i lost it, and cant do it worth a damn…wtf??? FAIL
EDIT: I just figured out the problem…my dummy was in crouch. Apparently its much easier on a crouching opponent because there is less knock back. I guess i should have kept track of these threads, i’m sure someone mentioned it already
QFT… ive seen yeb at the box arena tournys, and his slide method is crazy consistent. I wish I could do the slide method, but for now I am working on the piano method… been getting better at it. To me, the piano method does not seem that hard once you break it down into a rhythm.
look in the combo thread.
it’s not just harder, it ONLY works on crouching on half the cast.
i can do it with every method. and you can get consistent doing it pretty much with all of them. what it comes down to in the long run is which one you think will fatigue your hand the least. trust me, this ends up mattering a lot.
dont be too proud. i havent mastered any HHS methods
I can quickly mash out HHS off a jump in or a cross up with a high success rate…but I cant poke a c.lp into a HHS consistently :bluu: I need to master a method in order to do that
Working on this on the pad, so far I can do it okay, but 40% of the time I am getting EX hands through slip up’s. I gotta say, his HHS pressure in this game is sick, and a few meaty hits earlier today evened up some matches well.
The only way is through practice. That’s the thing with SF4 the more you play the better you get. I went from struggling with HHS to now working on Ex-HHS into one frame link cr.jab HHS standing :hk:
How’s that coming along? That has to be the hardest link in the game since you can’t plink it and developing a rhythm for it seems a bit harder than a few button presses in the span of a second. Plus 2 different hand motions. I gave up after like 30 minutes. One could almost infinite gief if they had it perfect lol.
