Because one, you are too lazy to try and learn it the right way. It takes a few days or maybe even weeks to do it correctly, dont rush it. Im sorry to call you out on this but it seems like every week someone comes up with a new and more stupid way to do HHS. Just do it the right way and stop complaining. If you plink all of those inputs you could get an ex HHS and it could cost you the win. Your way is making something so easy into rocket science.
I didnt try it, you are right. Why? Because it is as effective as my big toe method. I’m sorry if you are confused that im on SNK’s dick, because im not. IN FACT im the best honda player in the world and you are another Honda user who will post here for like 1 week and go back to Dhalsim.
That’s really not a new method, Its the same as sliding 1-2-1-2-3, but the attempt is appreciated. and like you said, its still 5 inputs, whether you do 1-1-2-3-3 (ala ross) 1-2-1-2-3 (ala slide) 1-3-2-1-3 (snk) or 1-2-3-1-3 (essentially snk’s way but “scaling” the buttons in the reverse direction) piano or slide, If you can get jxxhhs consistently without getting jab, strong, or ex hands more power to you. But its all the same. Sid, be nice to the newbies
there’s no right and wrong way. If it comes out 100% of the time with his method, it’s his way and it works. if he uses the big toe method and it works, how can you invalidate it? It’s only wrong when you get bad results.
Honestly dude, if you can do it consistently in a match, do it. Rock that shit. Don’t listen to anybody. if it’s comfortable and you like it, do it. Why do you need the permission of people to play YOUR game the way YOU want to play it? If you don’t get it 100% though and you don’t see yourself getting there with your method, you gotta make a change though. There are plenty of ways to do the jab hands.
The thing is, there are other hhs cancels. cr.mk xx fp.hhs is an important combo for punishes. cr.lk xx fp.hhs is also important for meaty mixups and what have you. cancelling pokes into mp.hhs is another thing that isn’t used much, but also has its uses. Can you do all these methods? It doesn’t matter if you do your “reverse plink” with one, slide another, and piano another. As long as you can consistently pull these off in a pinch, there’s no reason not to do it the way which is most comfortable. Obviously, it’s easier to use only one method for the sake of muscle-memory, but if that’s how you want to do it, there’s nothing stopping you.
You did, however, come here and ask opinions/thoughts. s1d is giving it to you straight. Piano/slide are the most widely used and seemingly easiest and most consistent ways to do it. If you want opinions, you can’t get your shit twisted when he tells you “it’s stupid.” There are a ton of ways you can fuck that method up, and it can become hazardous in a tense environment when it is most important for you do it correctly.
Also, personally, i think your method is stupid as well, Hardc0re. I can’t see how you can cancel hands from any other poke other than cr.lp. If you don’t believe that you can ever physically pull off the piano method, be it injury or lack of finger nimbleness, why not try the slide method?
ugh, i’m sorry to say i didn’t read though all this thread. I would’ve quoted you had i seem it.
i tried the big toe method. i just CAN"T hit the toe-link to cancel the cr.mk. i do cr.mk xx BigToeHP mp lp mp BigToe HP. Any help appreciated?
BT method for cr.lp xx fp.hhs is just stupid easy.
If anyone still has difficulty with hhs- try my method. I personally think it is the easiest method to do, and most consistent, but it requires a remapping.
I have strong and fierce switched, so that in a row is lp hp mp. I slide from left to right on the stick, it’s all it takes: lp hp mp mp hp. If you have triple punch turned on, you can go to triple and it will still come out. (lp hp mp triple mp hp), If you don’t have a 4th button on your stick, make sure to go past mp so you get it twice.
took a day or two to get used to the remapping, after that it’s easy mode. Makes links like st.lp, c.lp xx hands very easy to do.

Sids right, Why do you have to learn with remapped buttons? Ultimately its going to require a lot of work and practice to learn hhs, why not but that effort in learning how to do it on standard 6 button layout? That way whenever you play anywhere (arcade, tournament, casual sessions) you don’t have to remap all ur shit before every match. Honestly you’ll be better off learning on the standard 6 button anyway
I got no hands. My right hand just doesn’t work as well as my left. (I’m essentially left handed but I write with my right… long story) SO I just end up mashing it out. Thats all.
I switch my lp and hp buttons around when I use Honda. I can’t piano going left to right, but i can do it 100% right to left. I do the 1,2,3,1,3 method.
I got jab to HHS first time I tried pianoing it a few days ago. I’ve been “drumming” with my fingers for years now so it came easily. But I’ve having hard time doing short to HHS/EX HHS. For someone who does 13213, how do you do short to hands? I tried doing like crouch tech but it confuses my hand. I tried my left hand thumb on the short button and then piano as I usually do, but that’s not working out for me too much either. Also not sure how to do short to EX HHS. I find that sliding seems the best for both EX and non, but sliding, unlike piano, doesn’t come naturally so I’m sloppy with that. I’ll probably figure it out by myself as I did every other way, just putting it out there though.
BTW, is Blanka’s jab to electricity the same thing? I couldn’t get it out when I tried it, seemed I needed an extra button??? (edit: nevermind, just found out I did it too slow.) Gen forward to hands I can do but doesn’t link but that’s not a concern to me (he sucks anyway). Chun-Li’s legs are ultra easy off short, forward or roundhouse.
But anyway, here’s how I found ways to combo into HHS that work for me (all piano’d):
(cr.) jab, f.HHS: 13213
(cr.) jab, EX HHS: 1323[2+3]
strong xx f.HHS: 21313
strong xx EX HHS: 2132[1+2]
(cr.) forward, f.HHS: 513213 (5 being medium kick)
(cr.) forward, EX HHS: 51321[2+3]
With a jumping attack straight into hands, I’ll most likely piano 13213 but if I’m going for EX, I’ll just mash on strong + fierce.
I’m a new Honda player, and I’ve been developing my jab>HHS combo in training mode using Mr. SNK’s method over the last couple of days. After getting used to the timing need after a jump in attack to jab>HHS, I’m at a point now where I land it 80-90% of the time. What has been bothering me though, is that when I don’t jump into it I can only hit jab>HHS like < 10% of the time. I must have conditioned myself to do the hands faster off of a jump in, but I just thought that this was odd. I’m wondering if anybody else had similar issues.
Thanks to this video I now hit jab>hhs almost all of the time. I am doing it slightly different to Mr SNK though, :lp::mp::hp::lp::hp: seem to work the best for my hands.
I always wanted to main Honda, but his hands put me off - now I am really enjoying the character!
I don’t get all this attitude against remapping buttons. Arcade SSF4 doesn’t exist yet and you’re unlikely to ever play one even when it does, and all tournament and casual matches everywhere have a button check anyways where it literally takes 3 seconds to remap one button (i.e. not “remapping all your shit”).
