oh man, please give us a sim match up tutorial… your guile one helped me out so much… I no longer get bodied by guiles in my tournament scene. But today I ended up getting eliminated by a sim player, and got 4th place
Although… cr.jab xx HHS os with either fierce/ex headbutt or U1 is godlike against sim. Caught the sim player today with that option select three times today… the os autocorrects as well.
Where’s that anti-Guile tutorial? I’d like to see that…fucking booms -____-
Here you go slick rick… tutorial is gdlk, hawk should do more of these… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuamyglIOVc
Better yet go for the gusto… one for sim, sagat and chun! Damn those matchups…
Don’t forget Rufus, Boxer, Dictator and Seth
And I could use some camera/capturing device! I will give it back, I swear! (I’m being serious)
Good stuff, big hawk. This was put together very well.
Nice tutorials.
As for the hands ex hands combo i like the idea and the damage, but just think meter for Honda is best kept for defence now, super to hurt or only occasional hands fadc stuff. hands, normals and spacing are his go to tools. i was trying some of the combo above this morning and still don’t like the none plinkable link off a 1 framer despite the damage potential to then leave me open to getting bullied.
What does RH, cl, cl. Forward, cl. Strong and FP mean?
Back in the day there was no plinking in most games so we had to learn timings or just go for another combo(renda canceling came much later for me, almost with the internet). But I get what you mean(maybe we’re getting spoiled nowadays?), and after hearing about Daigo’s prototype stick with a select(or back) button above the usual setup I would love to have one like that, to be able to plink LP. That would be soooo good…
I think RH means RoundHouse(or as I call it HK for Hard Kick - I got used to james chen’s acronyms way back in the day). CL to me means CLose, since Honda has different close-far normals. So cl.Forward would be close standing forward kick or close MK. Cl.Strong would be close standing strong punch, or close MP. FP means Fierce Punch or HP. Since english is not my birth language I think the LP, MP, HP, LK, MK, HK notation makes more sense but that’s just me.
dicking around in training i just found out you can do c.lp xx hands hands hands on deejay…i’m sure it’s old news to some but i thought it was only on gief and t.hawk. am i missing anyone else?
Just wondered what other Hondas are doing when you hit someone (mainly a jump over a fireball) with j.hp at pretty far range. If i know im too far out i tend to mash hp for hands which still combos but those who know will mash out dp between the two as its not tight. Fair enough i can bait a dp after a j.hp after this but still.
Maybe j.hp into ex hhs is tighter?
Other times i go for j.hp into st.hk but even that doesnt reach sometimes. So i suppose im not necessarily asking for a combo as its a range issue but does anybody else have any follow ups besides hhs without a risk of getting reversal’d?
Or am i asking too much and should just be happy with the damage off j.hp and a possible bait?
EDIT: @ SLICK RICK: i thought it was just zangief and t.hawk too and cant remember seeing a list of chars it worked on. Will try and test some later.
i don’t think there’s a range where a slight walk up rh won’t work after a j.hp. it has so much hit stun. its what i always go for and i land that from outside 3/4 screen quite often
you could also catch them sleeping with a walk up oicho
Yeah deejay, hawk and gief are the three, interestingly you can only do HHS three times on deejay if you cancel it off a cr lp, it doesnt work when cancelled off cr mk or st jab.
Max range jump hp walk up oicho works a helluva a lot, i either do that or walk up hands, i don’t like just doing rh as you end up at -3 and lose any ability to continue pressure.
I usually go for more HHS to HHS links in those match ups as well… if you have the timing down, the two links of HHS is a great tool for building meter and chip damage if it is blocked. lol, in a tournament, I baited a gief player, pretty much all night in casuals I was doing that to him… and then I had to face him off in tournament, I did the HHS to HHS, but missed the link, and found out that he was mashing ex green hand in hopes of me missing the link… he got me once… and then I did it again… but purposely missed it… in fact when I went for the second piano input… I did it on the kick buttons to make it sound like I was going for another set of HHS… and sure enough he was mashing that ex green hand…and I U1’d his ass. lol.
Cl st hp - cr lp xx hhs - st rh works on
Cammy
Fuerte
Dhalsim
Gouken
T-hawk (sometimes *)
Cody (sometimes *)
Abel (only off a jump rh)
*(works consistently off a jump)
More obscure combos -
Jump RH - Cl St Mp - Cr Mk xx Hp Hb = 359 damage
St Lp - Cl St Mk xx Hp headbut = 242 damage ( maybe useful as a hit confirm if your OS’ing a st jab on opponents wakeup )
Cl St Lp - Cl St Mk xx Hp HHs - St Rh = 284 damage (doing HHS to HHS instead of Rh is 258 damage)
(works on Gouken, T-hawk, Dhalsim, Cammy, Cody, Chun li, Bison, Abel (iffy), Balrog, crouching Deejay, crouching sagat and possibly more… bored of testing it)
Some very big combos there if you do Cl mk xx ex hands instead. (canceling into ex hands is difficult on pad so if somebody wants to test that for me would be cool)
Cr Mk xx HHS - Hp Hb works on crouching ryu, ken (saves you the ex meter you need to use if you cancel HHs off a jab)
Cl St Lp - Cl St Rh - Cr lp xx HHS xx Super = 464 damage…possibly gouken only (i’m tired)
Thanks to everyone in this thread for the great combos; they really help after all the damage nerfs. I’m quite surprised to Zangief not show up in any of these lists of character-specific combos though, haha.
Urg, months later and I still can’t jewelman combo
I give up on piano for this combo, I’ve been having better success with slides kinda. Any advice on plinking slides? I’m kinda doing this:
1, 2, 1, 2, 3
3P+mk, 3, 2, 3, 3P
1, 2, 1, 2, 3
Wasn’t there a way to plink a lp with lk somehow? I forget…
EDIT: Oh hey one thing I was wondering. Was looking on SRK’s AE frame data, and it has a listing for a HHS that is +12 on hit but I’m not sure what exactly that one is, it looks like a mashed extended one? Reason I ask is U1 is 11f startup, that’s a 2f link into ultra if my novice frame data skills are correct. Anyone know?
tamanapants is right dont even do the combo its a complete waste of a meter im sure hes not just saying that cause he cant land it
Okay, I give up on cheating it with slides as I’m getting closer to it with pianoing. Fuck me if it isn’t hard though.
Hey Jewelman, do you piano the last jab hands after a particular hit on ex or some other timing tactic? I swear I read you did somewhere but I can’t find it.
