Not only damage wise, but it is a combo that gets you a knockdown, even though it is a techable knockdown, any knockdown gives you an advantage.

trying to add some offense to my game and get into AE just seems really difficult. idk but the damage nerf to me is pretty noticeable.
Hey guys, I just picked up Honda and I was wondering why you guys prefer to use lp-hp-mp-lp-hp for the HHS. I haven’t been reading about it but i saw the tutorial on youtube. I changed it up to lp-mp-hp-lp-hp and it was so much easier to do.
Pretty much just do the method that is most comfortable and consistent for you. Make sure that you have it down to the point where you dont even have to think about it.
i’d say jab hhs ex hhs jab hhs is pretty much the new BnB yes…it does 330 on the ground and if you have a reversal happy opponent you can simply stop after ex hhs and if they do nothing jab oicho them for it…
This combo was common knowledge i thought on abel, juri, and seth i just decided to hit training mode and see if it worked on anyone else… and i did the same for AE against the twins. I’m chalking this up to the few honda players that have contributed since 09’

So never being satisfied with what i’m given i decided to start seeing what honda could do if he landed a cr. mk to start his hhs since it seemed to put him closer to the opponent and boy does it leave you able to hit some stupid combos…
Recently, in the AE changes thread, Retekin and all his math glory tried adding up the damage with the mook for AE with this combo of jab hhs ex hhs jab hhs rh…that combo does not work, so people laughed, however if you land a cr. mk hhs there are certain characters that you can extend the jab hhs ex hhs jab hhs combo on…
Everyone seems to know that on standing blanka it is possible to hit cr. mk hhs cr. mk hb
now this combo has come to pass…
cr. mk hhs ex hhs cr. jab hhs hhs…this does around 412 damage in AE. RIDICULOUS and works on…
standing akuma, bison, juri, seth
along with this combo where you can land st. rh
cr. mk hhs ex hhs cr. jab hhs st. rh …430 or 440 roughly. this combo works on
crouching cody, fuerte
interesting stuff i thought. Hit any jump in (preferrably rh since it does more damage then fp now) and you are easily doing more then 500 damage with only one meter…
of course the combos i posted recently are all still viable and the range that cr. jab hhs ex hhs leaves you at from the opponent is MAX distance for a jab oichio which is pretty crazy in of itself.

I have a tiny contribution. I love the hands into c.MK into headbutt combo, ever since I found about it here. So now that Honda’s damage is down, here’s a modified version: c.MK xx EX hands(moving forwards) into c.LP xx HP hands(charging downback), c.MK xx headbutt. As you already know, it’s a character specific combo and against some opponents the headbutt has to be an EX headbutt. It does 447 damage and if used after a jumping attack it can rack up to 509 damage(of course, using nj.HK as combo starter). As jewelman already told us, it works in:
Crouching opponents: cr. MK xx EX hands into c.LP xx HP hands into c. MK xx HP Headbutt(1 meter)
Bison, Chun, Makoto, Oni, Rufus, Viper
Crouching opponents: cr. MK xx EX hands into c.LP xx HP hands into c. MK xx EX Headbutt(2 meters)
Akuma, Evil Ryu, Ibuki, Juri, Ken, Rose, Ryu, Vega
I was also looking for more damage from any other combination of characters using different openers. I tested the improved sc.HK into c.LP and it only works on:
honda, gouken, yun*, chun, dhalsim, abel**, bison, sagat**, cody, hakan(standing, 2nd hit of s.HK misses on crouching hakan), yang*, blanka, el fuerte, vega and fei long

**(standing only)
Also, against some opponents that the hands into ex hands combo doesn’t work on you can walk a little bit forward and do a c.LP into hands or EX hands to do a bit more of damage.
Finally, let’s do a “honda combo tier”, loking for characters that are easier to combo and others that are hard to combo into! Like, honda, sakura and rose would be C-tier(because for some reason hands whiff), and Bison, Abel, Blanka, Zangief and T.Hawk(plus a couple more I’m sure I’m forgetting) would be S tier
just starting out with Honda…

Yeah, my phone camera sucks big time. I can take requests for the next hour or so since I’m at my friend’s place testing stuff for my safe jumps/fake crossups/unblockables thread.
That helps a lot actually, thank you. Despite what you think about vid quality, I love that I can hear your piano clicks, gives me a sense of timing which was severely lacking. I really gotta get a handle on this one, would mean a world of difference to get some damage back.
Slightly offtopic but I figure I’ll ask here. For a long time, I couldn’t piano cr.jab hhs, now I can. Problem is, its a relatively new trick to me and I’m having some trouble on exactly when to put it out there. Like when I watch a Ross video, I’m trying to condition myself to throw it when someone is landing in front of you after say a nj.fierce or an AA porkchop, or when you know they’re just blocking for chip. Are there any other tips or suggestions on how to keep this pressure up?
You’re welcome! Erm… I don’t really piano anymore. I mean, I can, and I did for a long time, but since I’m not really playing the game(I don’t have AE yet, I’m looking forward to buy it soon!) and I’m not practicing it, I’m just using slides more. HERE’S WHAT I’M DOING NOW.
And about LP into hands, I would say that you have to practice it so that
a) you can OS it, that means that if c.LP does not connect, hands won’t come out
b) it becomes second nature to you, like pressing a button(i.e. far HK) for poking, and you don’t have to think about it or second guess yourself
Exactly WHEN you have to do it… it’s hard to explain since it’s character specific and player specific, and by “player specific” I mean that you have to condition your opponent to not reversal “SRK/flash kick/whatever attack with invincibility frames at startup” you at any chance, by making them scared of punishes for blocking their reversals and then start to combo/frame trap them. Like with Oicho, it also needs conditioning, and also to punish their escape attempts. You have to check your opponent’s habits too, like, if they’re backdashing monsters, or watch their meter to see if they can do that EX attack now or not.
Just my 2 cents.

Also works on Guile but the link is tougher. Or you could go c.MK xx HHS, link EX buttslam which is somewhat easier.
Close standing MK xx HHS, st.HK also works on Cammy iirc. Man, Honda’s sickest combos always seem to work on her.
On a side note I use the Akimo/Mike Ross sequence for HHS (LP, MP, HP, LP, HP) but I prefer Mr SNK’s method for EX hands (LP, HP, MP, LP, PP)…this Jewelman combo needs a bit of both worlds for me
