I’m happy to have lp hb back, no more free jump ins when I don’t have meter

You know how Honda could actually go through fireballs by kara-cancelling df.HK into LP Headbutt, but nobody really cared since LP headbutt is too slow/doesn’t go anywhere? I bet he can do this with MP headbutt now, which might actually be useful. If it works, it would probably be able to punish close fireballs, and if not punish, it would probably hit them if they tried to throw two in a row. Nothing amazing, but still a nice trick to have up your sleeve.

Somebody check this out; I just thought of this before bed and am too lazy to go and try it now.

Also LP headbutt isn’t quite as bad as people were making it seem. It does pretty well as an AA if you time it right, and it’s still an easy combo into super for silly damage.

i got mp headbutt to go thru ex sonic boom.

i’m glad to have anti air jab headbutt back. ex headbutt is a good anti air and all, but it loses to dive kicks for free at certain angles which jab headbutt works.

along with the lower invincibility on mp headbutt, honda is getting the best of both worlds.

I wanted lp hb back not because being a good meterless AA but because is an invaluable poking tool: Safe, good range and now beats most normals.

Does the invincibility period only begin with the active frames? I went up against a Juri using that “dive kick” of hers, tried countering it at point blank range with lp headbutt and I simply got hit before Honda actually performed the headbutt.

I don’t have the game yet (heck, I don’t even have AE yet) but…

Seems like people were expecting LP headbutt to have EX shoryuken-like invincibility, back in super you could stuff LP headbutt with many deep/angled attacks or dive kicks(ask Rufus). Positioning and timing were key.

Exactly, they said “MP HB will be AE’s LP HB, LP HB will be Super’s LP HB”. They gave some projectile invincibility to MP HB so if you got used to AE’s LP HB, you might be able to use MP HB now, but thing is, LP HB has a 13f startup and is -9 on block, MP HB has a 9f startup and is -13 on block so THIS OLD LIST has to be updated with the new timing. Like AE’s LP HB, ver.2012’s MP HB is not supposed to automatically beat every low (because some low attacks hitboxes aren’t as low as Honda’s low invincibility which started below his knees) and it’s not supposed to go through fireballs(and now with a shorter projectile invincible startup I would say it’s harder now, must test it). We are going to have to test it to be able to fully grasp what MP HB is capable of now.

Also this, against good people LP headbutt was useless as an anti-air in super(hey, honda has charge, let’s make a jumping attack!!!) but it could be used as a footsies weapon. There are many mid/high normals that people love to use that are beaten by it. And now we also have a footsies weapon that goes through lows. MUST. BUY. THE GAME!!!

I have a question tho, does LP headbutt still have projectile invincibility? Thanks in advance!

Honda’s LP headbutt only has upper body invincibility, so any attack that can hit his feet will beat it.

Yep… I was able to pass Sagat’s HP fireball with LP.hb, in training (the timing is very difficoult, however… ) and even an LK fireball

jab headbutt is slightly worse than it was in super. As far as I can tell it can only pass through faster fireballs, which was also the case in super, but in 2012 it’s more specific. (In super jab HB could go through ryu fierce and EX fireball, now only EX)

I tried going through fireballs with the strong headbutt kara canceled from down forward, but I couldn’t make it work. It could be that I suck, or since strong headbutt only has 9 frames of invincibility while jab has 14, may not be possible.

New hhs has changed SOMETHING. I haven’t found anything else, but: was it Gief, Deejay, and T. hawk that you could link hhs twice after the initial hhs? so against those three you can do: cr. jab xx hhs, hhs, hhs (though i think it was only possible against Deejay by using st. jab). In 2012 you can do cr. jab xx hhs, hhs, hhs against Gief, Hawk, Deejay, and, now, Guy. I have been checking through the rest of the cast. Basically on the second hit of hhs in the cr. jab xx hhs, hhs I’m seeing more hits. This probably means nothing. But add Guy to that list. There is SOMETHING. Unless someone can confirm that you can do this to Guy in regular AE.

it might just be me, but it seems like honda’s meter gain may have gotten increased, as well as the range on fierce oicho

also everyone’s right about jab headbutt not being as good as it was in super. it still beats most jump in clean, but gief’s jump ins in particular tend to stuff the hell out of it

ufff… there are tons of videos about Akuma, Juri, Ryu, Hakan, Vega, Ibuki, Yun, Yang, Chun-li, Blanka, Rufus, Rose, Gouken, etc 2012 changes… and NO ONE of Honda… NOT A SINGLE ONE!

is someone abel to go through lp hadoken from ryu with mp headbutt? so far I could only do it against stuff like ex sonic boom… am I doing something wrong? (tested it for ~3 minutes only tho xD).

Probably a combination of him being a less commonly-played character, and his changes not really doing anything new. They just un-did nerfs and fixed some stupid glitches (HHS hitbox). Granted, all the changes were buffs, but still…

I also think it’s kind of surprising how often I’ve seen people say Honda will be top tier in 2012. Maybe they thought his MP Headbutt buff would actually let him just go through fireballs? Or maybe they’ve just been trash players who actually thought Honda was top tier in Super because they kept losing to random headbutt spam on XBL. Who knows.

Yeah!.. I write in an italian forum too (dedicated to sf4) and several members are already whining about Honda being top tier!!.. absurd… He wasn’t top even in super (no one won something, with honda… to may match-ups are unbalanced), and now in 2012 he will not be top for sure: he isn’t even back at super level (and other fighters are also better!)

Because far fierce still do 80 damage… this move wasn’t changed…

Along time ago, so long ago in fact that I can barely remember, St Hp would do 120 from every distance.

I think they might have buffed HP HHS plus frames on block.

Blocked HHS - HHS feels much safe in this game, in AE opponents cold just hold up or up forward and be able to jump away and punish in between the two hands.

In 2012 they cant jump out, its not like super where they couldnt even make it off the ground but they get caught on the way up and u get a quick reset opportunity.

Not 100% on this but it feels different.

This. Trash online players are the most vocal. Why else do you think they nerfed damage on full screen headbutts, and took away his anti-air? Can you imagine some trash raging hard about random fullscreens + turtle power? Actually you don’t have to imagine, just check your XBL inbox. The nerfs made no god damn sense with respect to the tourney environment, but made all kinds of sense when viewed through the lens of impotent scrub rage-mail.

Hey guys, yesterday I went to my friend’s place again, and you know what that means: lab time! Unfortunately my friend had to leave early so I could test only some stuff. I mostly tried to find more characters the HP hands x3 might work on. AFAIknew, it only worked on (all standing) Dee Jay, T. Hawk and Zangief. Well, that has changed for great justice (thanks to dontgetbloodon for giving me something to start on:guy!), the notation is “character name, standing/crouching: moves you can start the first HP hands with, if you can combo into it after a lvl 2/3 focus”, it might be incomplete tho:

Hey, I said hands x3 worked on more chars, not that I had practical setups for them! I have to do more testing with jumping attacks as starters and stuff. Oh and by the way, I would like to welcome Rose with great pleasure to our “HP hands into c.MK” club!
You can do against a crouching Rose:
Jumping attack, attack into MP/HP hands, c.MK xx EX headbutt
The c.MK hits kinda late BTW.

I couldn’t test the extended hands variations since I didn’t have much time, and I started to use turbo in the middle of the tests because my hands were all sore after a long time not playing the game :frowning: I have some crappy footage as always so lemme know if you want another of my crappy vids :razzy:
