Heroes of the Storm: Blizzard's All Star MOBA for people who hate MOBA's

Is gold gain better in PvP discounting quests? I just did some co op to test champs and other than leveling stuff, I got a flat ten gold each game. Which seems terrible.

Quests is the main way to get gold, other than leveling up. Getting a hero to 5 is 500 gold; getting your profile up gives gold (patch next weeks adds about 10k more on the road to 40)

coop gives 10 gold per game I think? Quick Match gives 20 gold for a loss and 30 gold for a win. So losing a real match is more gold than winning a bot match.

Still kind of shitty but eh, play with people who will rage and call each other fags and other obscenities then.

a 10k in hots will take you on average 400 games. compare to league where you could buy a 6300 after about 100.

hots isn’t a game you can sit and play for 8+ hours to grind gold, and i don’t think blizzard wants it to be. it’s a game where you join pick up groups to knock out your dailies. maybe make some friends, get a 5 man premade together. get on voicechat, create some memories. play the game the way it was meant to be played.

i’m almost certain the only reason you’re even allowed to queue up alone is because having solo queue is the norm and people would get insanely buttmad and not play if you were forced to get/make some friends.

To be fair, it’s not entirely out of the question that 100 games of LoL would be equivalent time to 400 games of HOTS.

I also have about 6 beta keys, if anybody is interested in trying it out

I agree highly. Then again, my main MOBA is Dota 2, where everyone is free to choose who they wanna play. Oddly enough, I paid 30 bucks for a cosmetic item in Dota 2, but I don’t wanna pay 10 for a character.

Today is a good sign, they reduced one of the 10k heroes to 4k gold. So it does seem like they dont plan to do a “reduce price over time” but rather “they settle into their price range after X time.”

Big changes. Uther got a huge change, Tyrande got shuffled up a bit, Stitches got a nerf to stun and his slam damage build, Zeratul double bombs got nerfed :frowning: , Murky got some buffs which is nice, and overall a lot of quality of life changes.

Im weak and I may end up buying the Sylvanas bundle depending on the mount it comes with… lol

I saved up gold for Sylvanas, and she’s pretty fun so far.
Her biggest strength is her lane pushing ability imo, able taken out waves of minions and insuring your wave hardly takes damage.
Not to mention crippling turrets and forts with her (basic) attacks

Sylvanas is getting the nerf hammer. I can solo carry my awful friends with her.

You really should wait 2 weeks, its hard to justify paying 15k gold when you know shes gonna be 10k in 2 weeks lol.

the game is coming out of beta in about two weeks

lili has a glitch where two of her traits (cloud serpent heals on attack, cloud serpent attacks bounce) work together in a way that probably wasn’t intended

diablo and etc have somehow become the best tanks in the game

Glad I got ETC I guess, he’s fun.

Except diablo and ETC just got nerfed; anub and chen are the best tanks now lol

its actually close though, which is nice

Tanks are all pretty underwhelming at the moment though. Everyone has gotten the nerf hammer and now all of them are just kind of meh.

That’s a pretty confident statement to make considering they were not plainly nerfed but redesigned… Maybe they’d still stay strong with new builds? You can’t know yet.

Anyway open beta is coming so I made this:

I think the dust is still settling on the tanks, my boy stitches needs his stun on slam back ND higher regen or max health

Had some great games as zeratul today, being able to get some good ganks in and trying the more recent cleave builds since double bombs was nerfed

I had a lot of luck playing Anub today, he seems pretty solid with his beetle AI fixed

I like how they lowered his price from 10k to 4k because no one wanted to play him back then and they needed data for balancing. If that’s the reasoning behind price drops then I expect someone like Jaina to stay 10k for the next 3 years or something… In any case support always stays the most expensive role to play in the game.

All new heroes come out at 10k, then drop after some time (except, of course, the ones who stay at 10k as their base price lol). But they’re still figuring out hero pricing.
