ok im grinding in training mode with my team IF (Rising Fang)/ RR (Log)/ DD (P.Beam) …i have been trying to find ways to use the log assist during combos… i have been usong the basic bnb starter M -> H -> Quick Kick -> Rekka …after that im just doing the launcher to air combo , Log (assist) , OTG then the bounce out of the corner and i am not sure if i can continue from there… i have gotten a few things to hit but only one move afterwards i dunno if im doing this the wrong way of figuring out combos but if someone could help me out and even try it themselves and let me know what you find or even suggestions it would be great? thanks
I think Iron Fist needs a lockdown assist to go for overheads (no one blocks these on reaction, seriously) or a low assist for unblockables.
ALL of his assists are god-like. Dragon’s Touch causes Hard knockdown No matter what, ANYWHERE in a combo chain. Infact, you can get frank from lvl 1. to level 4 using that assist.
Rising Fang does it’s thang like everyone knows
Heel Crescent is great for people like chris, and can even set up for alot of ambigious mix-ups.
The only thing that is seperating him from mid/high is that he can’t get in that easily. ESPECIALLY against trish and dormammu’s.
I run IF and Chris and am curious to hear more about this.
Oh, god. That name terrifies me when I’m playing IF… I shiver every time see his picture…
I’m out of town right now, but when I get back I’m going to try using Iron Fist/Chris/Spencer.
The idea here is that Spencer lets Iron Fist and Chris get full damage off of their combos, and then Chris has a good “beam” assist that will lock down and keep them grounded. Iron Fist gives Chris an assist that controls the air when I’m trying to zone.
Seems like it could work.
Bolts of Ballsack is really good for forcing people to block low since it will only hit high, its a double hitter with decent durability and the beams stay on the screen for a long time and cause a lot of hit stun, should work fine I think.
I’ve found decent success with my main team (IF/Task/Strider) but now I want to experiment a bit. Thinking about doing:
IF(y)/Dante(y)/Strange(a)
Weasel Shot feels pretty good for IF to get in, plus since hops behind it can be safer. Daggers for homing to help with people trying to lame out in super jump space. Problems is the daggers feels soooo slow, strange kinda hangs out forever. I may try to do jam session/bolts of ballsack though. Been hearing good things about strange’s bolts, and although jam session doesn’t serve the same purpose as vajra/hidden missiles it can lock down air opponents to a degree.
Then again I may stop learning strange and just tack on hidden missiles. Anybody have any suggestions?
Im still going between Rocket raccon (Double Shot or maybe Log) or Hawkeye (a or b assist?) …im still undecided i have just iron fist and doom so far… i dont want to use spencer or frank unless i have no choice… but im still up for suggestions… im looking for an assist that can keep my opponent (short or tall pinned) hints the RR double shot assist but it would be cool to have some other options
It’s been said a few times in this thread, but Doom’s Hidden Missiles or Strider’s Valjra are your best bet for lock down assist.
The way I use Iron fist is like this, His first to be out, I use him to weaken there first guy, no ultras, I usually do a 2 special hit and green chi, then continue on simple combos, when i have 3 bars, I put IF with RED chi and, i do a air combo to switch out to the other character, Basically Chun-li(with her upper kicks), or Deadpool/Chris/Iron Man/DD. why one of those? what Iron fist lack is not air combos but projectile, its always good to have atleast one character for it, why? simple, you got people like Ghost Rider who loves to play keep away and IF is in your face character, so a projectile would open a few seconds to attack, but after all is done and I only have IF survivor and they have lets say 2, I use xfactor and he becomes a menace. Im new to this UMVC3 world where OTG works, but still, I play like my old self hahhahaa, anyways IF is a great character, limited but not useless.
doom is on my team… im saying i dunno who else my have synergy with them… i was thinking rocket raccoon (double shot) or hawkeye (poison arrow)… because RR double shot is a good projectile assist for when i get in and i want to cross my opponent up… or hawkeye for more dmg once my opponent is pinned… im just trying to see who would be a better pick i guess in the long run
I was always interested in Marvel vs Capcom at the arcades so I decided to pick up UMvC3 day 1. I’ve been playing around and I found that the four characters I like most are Iron Fist, Hawkeye, Dante, and Spencer.
I know for sure that I want IF, HE, and either Dante or Spencer on my main team and I was wondering who would be better with IR and HE. Having two anchors isn’t necessary but it helps to be extra clutch but Dante seems pretty fun as well. Who would you guys pick and more importantly what assists should I use?
For IF i’ve been using his flying kick (sorry didn’t memorize names yet) and the OTG poison arrow for HE and if not that, I use the OTG kick with IF and the scatter arrows for HE. Which should I pick or should I pick something else. If I pick dante I’m planning on using Jam Session and If I pick Spencer should I slant shot or armor piercer? Any help would be appreciated thanks guys.
I’ve been using Spencer Slant Shot for IF, it is a great combo extender.
it also brings them farther into the corner.
Any tips on assists for IF and HE? and your thoughts on me picking Dante?
If you’re asking what assist you should have IF and HE be using i would say IF rising fang(the kick) and HE either the OTG? poison assist or the Rag Time Shot.
and also i love how Dante fights so he always will have a place on my team.
IDK how well he works with IF though, i still have to check it out.
I would say that jam session is an amazing assist for iron fist for its anti-air and lockdown properties. Dante doesn’t really need any help and you’d probably be running fist on point, but the rising fang could be used for some teleport crossup shenanigans and it’s easy to combo from and is a great, high damage way to start combos. So while they’re probably not best friends or anything, they both have assists that are good for anyone.
I would use the horizontal projectile assist with Hawkeye because it really helps Iron Fist, but if you really don’t want to, you can use Dante’s Weasel Shot for that purpose, won’t be as good but you won’t have to use an assist you don’t like.
So I was running IF/Hawkeye/Doom for awhile, but I kept running into teams that shut me down so fast off the start it was frustrating. I still like that team, but I’ve been working on something a bit different
Ghost Rider/IF/Hawkeye. Losing out on doom missiles hurts because they helped hawkeye a lot, but with IF it was getting me killed because I called it out at terrible times. Having IF second instead of on point allows me to combo into his level 3 and put some good hurt on, and I can always build meter with his FP chi if I need to for Hawkeye. Ghost Rider with IF rising fang works pretty nicely, since it’s like a get off me assist, but also if you get a standard launcher combo with him (l, m, launch, m, m, s) you can land, and then do the Heartless Spire, and have IF assist wall bounce them for you, then use your H H pull in (or another launcher combo) to extend the combo. There’s good synergy allowing Ghost Rider to get good damage. Then when IF comes in I still have Hawkeye to back him up.
DHC is trickier, I haven’t played with it yet but I should be able to do motorcycle to either of IF supers. Been doing the flame cyclone one and you have to DHC way too fast in order for it to combo.
I’m running IF (rising fang) HE (purple fizz/scatter shot when I need some extra zoning) Spencer (slant shot). It is a ridiculous team. Iron fist getting me 800-900k combos for 2 bars. Spencer also doing ridiculous amounts and with that new xfactor HE tech doing millions my team is just hard hitting. I have a three bar 1.4 mil lv 1 xfactor iron fist combo that I can have set up right at the beginning of the match.
