"Heroes for Hire" Iron Fist's Team Building thread

I am using a team right now of Captain America (a,shield slash) / Iron Fist (y,flying kick assist) / and Chris Redfield (b,gunshot) and I love it! I still have a ton to work out and discover, but these characters are all super fun to play, have high damage output, and can DHC back and forth pretty well. Chris’s gunshot assist seems to work very well for both Captain and Iron Fist, I like to think of it as dooms beam assist that keeps people grounded. For captain, the assist comes out very fast, so if I am at the right range and do a cartwheel, it can be very difficult to block. It also helps to play a zoning game with shield slash and gunshot assist. It works great for Iron Fist as a tool to wave dash behind, or flying kick behind to close the distance. It also keeps opponents grounded which is extremely important for iron fist. When I finally get in someone’s face with iron fist, I will do a M, H, forward H. If it connects, I continue into rekkas. If it doesn’t, the forward H can be jump cancelled. So I jump, call out Chris gunshot assist, and then can go for a crossup j.H, an empty jump into c.H, or a throw attempt. When I have captain on point, I can just throw out iron fists assist, and if I see that it hits it’s pretty much a free hyper charging star. For example of damage output, captains BnB combo ending with hyper charging star, dhc into iron fists vertical dragon hyper does around 1 million damage. Both of Iron Fist’s hypers can be cancelled into Chris’s sweep hyper with proper juggling now. Chris as anchor isn’t ideal, but he can do a lot of chip damage in XF, and you can definitely do worse. And as I said, all of these characters are just fun to play as well that have very unique combos! If only I could figure out my colors! Damn Iron Fist costumes… What do you think?

that’s so hard i want to say start west but if he gets blown up the fist doesn’t get that shopping cart but you also want that lvl4 anchor
i’d look into getting that dragons touch hard tag west i hear you can lvl him up in one combo then hard tag right back into the fist but i don’t even know if that works

I’m running Iron Fist(Kick assist)/ Nova (overhead assist) / Spencer (slant) because I feel like they DHC well and can literally obliterate people. The whole point of Iron Fist is to get in and get a touch with basically any kind of normal. If you’ve got 2 bars with Iron Fist, almost all of the lower health characters are dead with a simple Spencer assist relaunch.

With 3 bars, you’re looking at upwards of 1.1 million damage and with 4 you’re looking at dead everyone. The good thing about him is that most of his combos carry people halfway across the screen, so you’ll almost always end up in the corner. If you don’t I have a feeling you can wave dash and get an overhead in if you do it fast enough.

I can’t drop Iron Fist, even though he has a lot of faults, he just too much fun.

My new team consist of Doom(Hidden Missles)/ Iron Fist(Dragon’s Touch)/ Spencer(Slant Shot). Right now I’m in the early stages of developement with this team. However, I feel that in the end this team will be one of the most dominate teams in Ultimate. I’m still not to sure whether or not to run Iron Fist on point or keep Doom there. My strategy is to build meter with Doom using passive aggressive tactics. Mainly just keep away then when the oppritunity arises go in. After I build enough meter with Doom (if he is still alive), I’ll tag him out for Iron Fist using DHC or Raw Tag-Out. Iron Fist is sustainable with 2 meters at the least. His stand alone combos build 2 meters. If I have meter stock when I bring him in, I shouldn’t have a problem killing off any character when I get a hit confirm in. That accompanied with great assist and DHC capabilities I will definitly get the W. All I have to do now is work on my Spencer. I haven’t played with him much, so I’m going to go into the lab with him. Just in case if the problem arises and he is the only one left.

I think a character that has an assist that can cover IF’s approach would be a good third. Beams, Sent Force, etc…

going between IF (Rising fang)/Doom (missles or beam)/Strider (Vajra) OR… IF (Rising Fang)/Doom (Missles)/ Phoenix (Tk shot) …i feel like i need help with this though can i get some opinions on how i should go about making the 2nd team i listed work? i would love jean on my team as ancor but Strider is pretty viable for IF too with his assist… HELP! lol pls someone even ideas on another character (i dont really want to do frank west though lol) i would really appriciate the help folks :smiley:

well i dont really know how well the fist can battery ironically enough but i don’t see why the team can’t work does anyone know if green chi builds more meter even while doing block strings? if so i don’t see why that team can’t work
same as the first team i think a lot of people are trying that team and joe has said multiple times that you can run doom beam strider vajra so i don’t see why either team can’t work really

Been messing with Iron Fist/Magneto/Doom. I put Magneto there because he had a easy DHC for good damage since Fist of Fury wall bounces and I get the full Magnetic Shockwave super. It is just rather difficult to pull off combos midscreen. Magnetos H loop still works in the corner and I use Iron Fists kick OTG assist so I can use Hyper Grav into Magnetic Tempest. Dr. Doom with hidden missiles is also just fun.

The green chi builds more meter in blockstrings and when IF takes damage.

even my opponent does it sometimes, it looks like a sf match or something
i think i’m always going to look to just do raw green or blue chi because it’s only a matter of time before i get put into block stun and if i open them up it’s okay because i’ll turn red to power up during the combo.
I don’t think it’s worth turning red outside of being in a combo at all his damage is already so good that i think it actually hurts us more to be red when we’re not hitting them

So I really like Iron Fist cause his assist is godlike. That rising Fang covers so much range and converts my combos for Viper. Im thinking of running Viper(Thunder Knuckle)/Iron Fist(Rising Fang)/Dr. Doom(Hidden Missiles). I think Hidden Missiles is an insanely good assist for Iron Fist. But the problem is Iron Fist just gets destroyed. Im wondering what do you guys do to combat advance guards btw. Im trying to end all my block strings with the light rekkas. Do you guys have any ways to bait the advance guard and then punish it.

Start your blockstrings with M, so you go like M, H, rekka, if the guy adv guard the M your H will serve as a kara for your rekka, and it will connect even if they pushblocked the standing M.

What I do is stagger my blockstrings. Most people I play pushblock IF at the st.H so kara-cancels go right out the window. Putting a small gap in between the M and the H has had some success for me against pushblock but I only recently started to do this.

I mean putting a small break in between your attacks to sort of bait your opponent into advance guarding and punishing them for it if they do.

Right now I’m running IF(Dragon Kick)/Hawkeye(Scatter Shot)/Doom(Beam). It is working really, really well, because Doom’s beam assist gets you in for free, it is such an awesome pressure assist. Hawkeye’s scatter shot is also really good for this as it’s hard to see coming and locks down easily as well. But even as well as this is going, I can’t help but feeling Iron Fist would benefit a TON from a more defensive assist. How I wish we still had Vanilla Tron assist, it would be soooo perfect :frowning: Anyone know of any good defensive assists that benefit IF?

I actually play the same team as you right now, only its Iron Fist (Rising Dragon)/Hawkeye (Quick Arrows)/Doom(Missiles)

The arrows work like the doom assist for getting in, only you can actually land a combo afterwards with them grounded. The Doom Missiles are the most annoying thing about the team. If you can’t get in, you can use doom missiles as you are being pushblocked out; they have to deal with the missiles, giving you a change to get in, mix it up, and get your damage. You can call missiles mid combo just to keep them locked down as they wake up. Hawkeye can cover the screen with arrows with doom missiles backing him up, basically giving many characters a headache.

Hawkeye can also use IF’s assist as a combo extender after his poison arrows to get a bit more damage if you manage to keep IF alive.

In short, I think lockdown assists like Doom Missiles (and to a lesser extent eye of agamatto from strange) help IF nearly as much as projectile assists, because staying in becomes a lot easier

I’ll have to try that out because I actually find myself rarely ever actually using the Hawkeye assist, so maybe it would be better to actually have 2 use full assists. I was thinking about putting Haggar in the somehow, but when I tried, his assist just isn’t good enough anymore, even though he would be good for Iron Fist.

For now im running spider-man/ IF for sure. Spider-man since vanilla, Is my favorite character to play on point and my favorite marvel character in general. So he is staying for sure lol Plus after seeing a video or two and trying out a couple things they can DHC pretty well into each other and spider-man benefits pretty well from If’s assist. Now aside from a good lock down assist that character also needs to be a great anchor.

Right now im looking at

DOOM - any of his assist really seem like they could work well for IF and with spider-mans mobility i can make due with anything IF can make do with lol

TASK - his horizontal shot works wonders for lock down and keeps people grounded. Plus he looks like a simple enough character to play where as doom would probably take some solid work to make him scary

STRIDER - I mean his assist looks amazing for anyone lol Although im not sure how id like it for spider-man but with his new ability to combo off raw hard knock downs it might not be to bad. Although for IF I could see it being amazing. I would assume he would make for an amazing anchor as well

Im assuming these three would be the best for both an anchor and assist but there is also

HAWKEYE, FRANK, DANTE, and maybe a couple others just aside from dante im not sure how good they would be as straight anchors if needed

Any thoughts on who makes the best anchor/assist for IF? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated, Although im sure most was already said about the few assists in the last page lol Im just double checkin
