Got it, Savaii. The image mode was set to 16 bit, switched it to 8bit and everything was fine again.
Alrighttttttt happy ending. sniff
any luck on this savaii? or should I be trying to google “aberz tutorial”?
Sorry for leaving you hanging ONI. I had aberz tut on my external but it died. And j am not sure where he may have it uploaded. I will try and make my own from memory when I can get to PS but as of now I can try and describe I briefly.
Duplicate the layer that has lightning
darken the copied layer a little just so that there is a slight difference.
Make a new layer on top of that.
Pick a color that you want the lights to flash.
Paint over the lightning with that color.
Set the painted layer you just did to overlay, screen, multiply or whichever blending mode looks best. You want the painted lightning to different enough from the color of the original lightning.
Now comes the animating part.
You should hav two frames.
It does not matter which frame is first. Essentially you want one frame with the original picture and the other frame will be the darkened copy with painted/blended lightning.
If done ight it should look like the acne goes from dark to light whenever the lightning blinks brighter.
Sorry if this is confusing. I am typing this on my iPod.
Made a real simple kine one:
Good shit sav! Time to level up my photoshop game.
So I saw the post on the front page about winning stuff for designing an iPhone background. I’m sure some of you are already on that, just wanted to say Best of luck!
This thread has been dead for a bit so I’m gonna revive it with a question.
Has anyone used Planet Renders before? How do you properly download something from that site? Every time I Save Image As… and open it up in photoshop it gives me an error saying “Could not complete request because the file-format module cannot parse the file”. What gives?
Planet renders works fine for me. I think that as long as you are logged in and you save the image as a .png it should open in PS just fine.
Ah, got it. Just had to register. Way to use your head, me.
One more question, I’m using Vegett0s animated border tut and I’m at the part where you have to select the gradient layer, then Ctrl + click the thumbnail that has a border. I do that, but it wont let me add a layer mask. Any idea whats going on? I can provide a screen shot if needed.
A screenshot would be appreciated. I remember having the same thing happen to me when I was following his tutorial…although, iirc, I ended up doing it a different way. I suspect though, that it has something to do with the selecting the active/visible layer before trying to apply a mask. Maybe.
Well this is a horrible screen shot, can’t really see it, but the Add Mask Layer button is grayed out and has that “Cancel” symbol thing.

Ok, total image editing noob question. I’m trying to fiddle around with adding things to Art’s extended TE template, using GIMP. Now, I can draw on it etc if I select the top layer, named ‘TE extended template’. However, there’s a layer several below called ‘insert artwork here’ which seems to me to be the correct place to do some arty business, but nothing there works, despite fact that as far as I can tell the afore-mentioned top layer only consists of the buttons and the xbox hole in the top-left. I can’t figure out why I can’t draw over the white background when that’s the very bottom layer.
I suspect I’m just not checking the right box or something similar, so any help will be much appreciated.
edit: never mind, it was the opacity setting.
How do yall make those KOF/NBA hybrid AV’s? It would be something interesting to start on since I’m just starting with photoshop…
Those KOF/NBA images were made by…well…I dunno  The avatars that people have of them seem to be a simple copy, paste, crop job imo. A good start to making avs though!
Hm…I don’t remember how I solved that problem when it happened to me (or if I even solved it!) but there is an easier way which I was directed to by TempestSonata. You can spin/rotate a gradient and have the same effect. Here is how I do it:
[list=1]
[] Make a new layer
[] Press ctrl+A to select the canvas
[] Go to the menu bar, Edit > Stroke. Choose any color (it doesn’t matter what color, you will see why very soon), and size. Make sure “Inside” is selected. Click OK
[] Double click on the static border you just made. A layer styles window will appear
[] Check “Gradient Overlay” on the left
[] Choose a gradient and modify it however you like. You can change the number of colors, the position of colors, the direction (Linear, Reflected, Radial etc.). Basically make the gradient how you want it. Linear or Reflected work best for this border method, from my experience.
[*] Wait…I’ll make something better than this txt version.

I hope this helps
Don’t you hate when you did something in Photoshop and forgot how you did it? I forgot how I made the glowing text in my current AV while I was making a new one. I know it was a filter, I can’t remember which one…
Edit: Blending options on the text layer…Forgot about that one.
How’d you make her boobs look like balloons?
BALLOONIN’!
Also, ‘who dat?’
Mah uce stay in da SLC for reals? My aiga just moved there! What’s good sas?
Raquel Reign. Google image search FTW. Gogogoggogogogo
Anyways, question. I think somebody a long time ago said not to use tween to tie between frames in animated gifs. Is there a better way to do it and keep file size down?
