Help With Photoshop, Etc

please help! thanks in advance…

i got an image that i want to make a poster out of. the picture i have is currently sized at:
27.042 x 8.333 (inches)
1947 x 600 (pixels)
resolution of 72

i need the picture to be 36 x 11.75 (inches)

my question is, what should the resolution be for maximum quality?

I was working on my artwork for my HRAP EX, and I wanted to put circles around the holes. So I just used the Magic Wand, followed by Stroke (@ 60pixels) on another layer, but for some reason at 60 pixels, outside Stroke, the circles aren’t round as you can see. However, the two circles at the top right, which are at 30 pixels are just fine. Is there a reason why the circles for the buttons aren’t completely circular? Any way to change this? I guess creating a solid circle with the Elliptical Marquee and putting the other layer above it would work too…

Since you used the Magic Wand, it probably selected along with some jaggies, so it wasn’t a perfect circle shape.

Your best bet would be to use the method you mentioned, the ELLIPTICAL MARQUEE TOOL, to get a circle shape, then use it as a base and make copies off of it to make the other holes with.

so I was looking at BlodiaVulcans avatar. and I was wondering how would I make an image like this? is it a type of overlay?

Could be some sort of layer effect, via one of the layer menu options.

You should hit Blodia up and see. He’s a coo’ cat. I’m sure he’ll tell you how he went about it.

Post up your results in here afterwards if you do.

just shot him a PM :china:

Hey all, I’m looking for help with an image I’m trying to edit. I just want to add some detail to the lion’s face but I’m not sure how I want to go about doing it. Here’s the original image:

And here’s the updated image so far:

I’m not too experienced with image editing, though I find the clone tool to be very useful. I’m using Paint.NET to edit the image.

Sadly I’ve never used Paint.NET, but I’ll throw in my two cents for what they’re worth and hope it’s applicable for you [and still useful, given you’ve waited about three days at the time of this post].

If you’re trying to add detail to the lion’s face, the best thing I would suggest is to use some sort of brush or pencil tool [a tool that invokes a stroke] and use subtle strokes to outline some of the existing features.

Probably not very helpful, but the only thing I would recommend…for a program I know nothing about.

Dun dun dunnn…

Hopefully someone else with experience with Paint.NET will chime in. Til then, I hope your detailing goes well.

Holla.

Can anyone suggest a good program to use for converting an AVI to a GIF? I’ve found a few, but I always get watermark’d =(

Adobe ImageReady.

Whenever I attempt to use Imageready, it only shows me a white box. Suggestions?

The resolution should be 300 for a nice sharp quality.

blodia never replied to my PM :arazz:

sorry for double post*
but anyone know how to do cell shading esque graphics? I want to do this to some of my photos.
example:

Probably some form of vectoring.

Use the PEN tool to outline shapes. For instance, this person probably outlined his hair first using the PEN tool, then filled it in. On another layer [under the hair layer], he probably outlined his face with the pen tool and filled it in with a solid color. Then came the features, such as the eyes and mouth and lastly [probably] came the shading and the facial hair.

It’s all with the PEN tool, and it’s all about LAYERS.

Then again, it could be something else.

This post reeks of uncertainty.

yeah thanks. im gonna do some research and try

anyone have any clue why my imageready only imports white screens when I try to upload a small AVI file? ; ;

how would I make something like this?
I think the only thing im not knowledgeable of is how to make the text transparent

Type out your text [make it a big font size. Impact would work best].

Place the picture on a layer above your text.

While on the picture layer, hold CTRL then left click the text layer. If you did it right, you’ll see the text be dash-outlined over the picture.

Now press CTRL+SHIFT+I, which selects everything OUTSIDE the text. Press DELETE. You’re set.
