Manipulating Fightstick Templates w/ artwork

Hey guys,

I dont know if this is the right place to ask or if ths has been asked before…i did try to make sure before posting though so here goes…MarkMan just released the Templates for the Fightstick and Tournament Edition Fightstick as well…my question is using IrFanView how do I add pictures (or Jpegs and the sort) to the existing blank template? Any help would be great and I dont really know the exact dimensions of the actual artwork on the finalized Fightstick. Thank you.

Merged your thread in here, SlamShuffle. This is where you should be asking.

…seriously.

It’s been a long time since I used Irfanview, but from what I remember it has little to no editing abilities and meant as an image VIEWER only. You can do basic things like convert to other files formats but that won’t get you far.

Ideally you want to be using Photoshop with the templates although you could get away with GIMP (on linux) or possibly some other cheaper image editing software (Photoshop Elements may work or perhaps Fireworks). In any event, Adobe has 30 day trial versions of all these so you could just try getting one and doing what you need to do here.

awesome thread, helped me a lot

how do I make a photo of mines like this?

Looks like a blue overlay, with a layer mask in the upper right hand corner.

I’ll have to fiddle with this theory of mine when I reinstall.

 I shouldve been specific. the colors and how do I get more than one image of me into it.

^There is a lot of ways to do that; I am assuming that you know how to work with layers, so saying that; the way I feel comfortable doing it is to have your canvas open and then open up all the images you want to use.
Use one of the lasso tools or magic wand to select your image and copy it into your canvas and then repeat. Check the show transform tools box (under the main menu when the move tool is selected) so you can resize each layer accordingly.

Edit:Come to think of it they probably just took pictures of him standing in different positions in the same place and just combined the pictures using layer masks in photoshop or whatever program they used.

You could do the color a million and one ways.
Go to image on the menu, then adjustments and play around with the color balance
Add a color overlay or have color layer and fade it to add depth to the image.

Can anyone help me bend a rectangle in photoshop? I’m trying to draw a black rectangle and then have it bend in the middle up to a higher rectangle (sort of like a staircase, if the stair were at a 45 degree angle).

Also, is there an easy way to do a silhouette of a person in photoshop?

For the bending of a rectangle, I don’t know how to go about doing that using Photoshop techniques. The only advice I can offer you [til someone who knows how to do it chimes in] is to draw a rectangle, copy it, then use the TRANSFORM [CTRL+T] command on one of them to turn it into a diamond looking shape. Then do the same with other rectangle, and align them until they fit. Trial and error process.

For the silhouette, you can cut them out using the POLYGONAL LASSO TOOL or PEN TOOL, then go to IMAGE->ADJUSTMENTS->LEVELS. In levels, lower the settings [or raise them] to get that silhouette look.

Do you need a specific silhouette or something more generic? Maybe find something here. http://www.deviantart.com/#catpath=resources/applications&order=9&q=silhouette

Does anyone have any tips for making rings around button locations like on a vewilix panel or how many people have on their custom sticks?

Best method for rings would be to use the CIRCLE MARQUEE tool. If it’s not in the left hand tool bar, left click and HOLD on the RECTANGULAR MARQUEE tool, which will bring up more marquee tools. Circle should be there.

Then press and hold SHIFT while dragging out to keep it a uniform circle.

If you want to get it on point, put the cursor dead center inside the button hole, press and hold ALT and SHIFT, then drag out. This will keep it uniform as well as stretch out from the center point, i.e. the center of the button, and should give you a perfect circular shape that you’re after.

Holy crap. One of my OG free avatars! LoL. Go Pillsbo!

Can’t figure out but the crop tool seems limited to only crop in the shape of perfect squares for some reason, anyone know what’s going on?

D:

hey chibi you should totally make an avatar tutorial…

lol

Really?

My ‘style’ is pretty damn simple compared to everyone on here, I don’t use the likes of renders or brushes and what have you, not sure if other people would care to know what goes on in my head~

:#

Is it still doing this?

I’ve been trying to see if I can get it to do perfect squares ONLY, but it only happens when I hold down the SHIFT key.

I do like your current avatar style though. Simple, yet it pops.

Edit:

If you click the CROP TOOL, then click that down tab next within the highlighted circle, it’ll bring up a window with presets and shit. Within that window, there’s a circle with a triangle in it. If you click that, you can reset the crop tool. Maybe that’ll help.

Note: I tried to printscreen the window with the presets and the circle with a triangle in it, but when I did, it didn’t paste. I guess it’s not allowed.

go head son! it would help me shiiiiit. seriously.

Oh we care… Lol.
Alot of people aren’t so good with AV’s (Me) so maybe they could have an Easy and effective way of doing Things…

I cannot get any of my images under 20kb. The images I want to use would be cropped down to the appropriate dimensions, but no matter what, the file format (jpeg, png, gif) would all be above like 42kb. I can scale it down to 30kb with the lowest setting, but then the image becomes super choppy and crappy.
