T Hawk Vortex crushes non oiled Hakan
Haha are you speaking from experience? I would guess that anything crushes non oiled hakan in general
friggin thawk kept doing his horizontal flying crap and then ticking into 360s.
my habit is to 360 from using gief, but unoiled = bad range so id lose. id spam jab, too slow, I lose.
i jump, what do you know, he decided to srk instead
EX-360+k (powerdamage and you can not get grabbed out of it ;))
i havent tried it but im guessing you can negative edge the grab outta the duck…tho im not sure if releasing the down makes him stand up, yet another test on tonights agenda.
so i pick up the guide for ssf4 from gamestop because i heard there was actually good data in it like frame data and whatnot. turns out there was frame data for all the new characters but thats it, which is kinda bummer cuz lots of the returning cast’s frame data changed, but whatever. but i did learn some interesting stuff about hakan. what comes to mind right off hand is the propertys of his super.
if you didnt know, short gives him hit immunity, making it a great antiair. was testing it this morning, if someone jumps on you and wont cross you up, as long as you get it out on time its pretty much a guaranteed hit, where i have been kicked out of regular 360k on several occasions.
forward gives him throw immunity. this seems only useful against someone who would try to throw you on your wake up and you successfully predict it. havent done a whole lot of testing with this one because it seems to have limited use besides just guessing right.
Roundhouse gives him projectile invincibility. i was successful punishing ryu’s fireballs from about half screen this morning. worked fairly well has long as you can react quickly enough and arn’t too far away. was trying it against cody too but he recovers a bit faster from his, but still this is extremely useful.
as for the t.hawk matchup, i havent decided which ultra i like better. i was able to punish blocked condor dive with dash ultra 1 on a regular basis (cant remember if i was oiled at the time, possible i wasnt because ultra 1 still has good range even without oil). ultra 1 also can punish condor spire, which some of you guys seem to have trouble with so you might wanna consider using that one. however ultra 2 is just so damn versatile and takes so many options away, i cant really fault anyone for using it either, i find myself using it far more than ultra 1, but im thinking t.hawk might be an exception.
but anyways, good stuff in this thread guys, lota useful info here, hope my 2 cents helps some of you out too.
I would say that Hakan’s best AA is jab oil slide against most characters, if done early in their jump phase. Its active frames are extremely long and it settles in one location for awhile. It catches most people because they do their normal too early to hit him that low to the ground (if their character even can go that low).
EX oil slide (un-oiled) is even better for semi-close AA due to what appears to be slight invincibility (or odd hitbox) and higher dmg.
If you do a stronger oil, you can typically just escape if someone is jumping in on you with marginal risk.
EX oil slide (oiled) can punish a jump from practically anywhere on the screen.
Alright I hit up the lab tonight and here are some oil dancing techniques I found.
-
Oil dancing kills your fingers sometimes.
-
Oil dance canceled into F+MP has reallllly long range and can punish a lot of fireballers.
-
For some shenanigans Oil Dance with LK and then go straight into 360k if 3 or so body lengths away or 360p if close.
i got actualy hit out of my super with :lk: from Fei longs ultra (he execute it after i did the super and pretty late thou
so it seems the super is not totaly hit imun OR he can not grab opponents with invul frames?? and he is only imun during his active frames!
Has anyone started creating a comprehensive list of what U2 traps? As far as I can tell, if you pass close above Hakan, he gets you. If you even leave the ground next to him he gets you. I think it gets overheads/attacks that hit high as well (I caught a Juri with it when she did a point-blank fireball; U2 caught her when her leg descended from the kick).
there is no list needet actualy it is so plain simpel it TRAPS ANY AIRBORN opponent in reach! nothing airborn beat it (Kunais loos fireballs may win) THATS IT…
EDIT: just found out you can not FOCUS CANCEL a SLIDE if you press :p: :p: for the Bodypress!
Already made it in the Ultra Setups list. Nothing special though. Just basic stuff.
You can also focus cancel it way early with the same sort of timing UltraDavid mentioned for the press and it will still go a ways. I should test if the time counts toward charging it up.
Moving while charging a focus attack (when oiled) - anyone find any setups that take advantage of this?
I wonder if there’s any advantage to NOT body splash after his slide
Yea, but it catches some things that stay on the ground as well which is mostly what I was curious about (e.g., Juri’s firball kick)
I was wondering the same… it doesn’t seem to have any different properties on block if you triggered the splash or not.
It’s pretty funny too… the first 10 times I played Hakan I just spammed :p: after I did the slide to get the splash. I spent like 2 minutes in training mode figuring out that all it takes is a second hit of punch before impact to trigger the splash. I’m trying to train myself to simply double tap or piano the second punch input whenever I do the move.
Slide being unsafe- cannot focus cancel once body splash is inputted.
Thanks, Ogrebait. I was wondering this too. Way to contribute!
