Overhead on st.hp.
c.HK = Airborn!!!
im abolutly for this idee!! anybody should write capcom this thread specaly with this little idee!
resetting after a airborn move is great and it would solve some Hakanproblems!!
good idee in anyway!!
I think s.LK should be a low attack and have to be crouch blocked. F+LK would be nice too, but I guess that’s asking for a lot.
some ground moves with Juggle ability would althou be a nice way to improve him its riski to answer Air moves with hakans limeted Antiairs so why not give them at least Juggle like HP/f.LP/F+Mp all would be nice ^^
Easily the best thing I’d like to see them do. This would add so much to the move (which I already abuse too much). Not to mention it would add another “strange” property to the strangest character in the game. By far my favorite thing to do in matches is capitalize on my opponent’s ignorance. You won’t believe how many people don’t know that Hakan has an air throw, or that any airborn move can be punished by ultra 2. It’s hilarious.
1 bar criscos
My apologies in advance for the lack of detailed info but after much speculation I was recently informed by a very, very reliable source, via IM, that Hakan will indeed be receiving a buff or two for the arcade release of SSF4.
Here’s the quote more or less:
‘He’s much a better character than people think, but hopefully we can give him a bit more in the upcoming arcade version.’
No trolling here, this is legit folks and pretty huge news as far as I’m concerned. While we all figured that this would happen, to get a somewhat official/unofficial confirmation on this makes me a very happy Hakan player. So with that said let the speculation begin.
I personally am pretty satisfied with Hakan’s current design so I really wouldn’t be interested in anything too drastic, especially if it diminishes the complexity of his move set in any way. I’d be more than happy with simply tweaking the recovery frames on a couple of his normals and possibly finding some additional ways of making his DDT a tad more useful. Oh and of course minimizing the chances of whiffing an oil rocket while attempting an oil slide and vice versa would be a welcome change for sure.
On a semi-related note based on recent magazine scans I would be very displeased if the silhouettes turned out to be who we think they are. Very uninspiring choices as far as I’m concerned especially when you consider the other more interesting character designs within the SF roster.
Edit: Oh and a more reliable crossup (jumping short and/or Fwd) would be nice as well.
As you said, I’d just like to see some improved frame data. I’d love to see c.lp xx slide on non ch, but that isn’t going to happen.
Funny I was thinking about the same exact thing yesterday. While the chances of non CH c.lp xx slide are slim, some more non CH link options off of c.lp would be nice.
If this is true I may pick Hakan back up again. One thing im hoping they change is that if anyone touches Hakan during U2 (airborne or not) they get hit by it. Its kinda bull that they can mash an attack and their limbs go right through you’re oily body on the floor. Yeah the ultra takes out a lot of moves already (ala Honda Headbutt and Blanka Ball.) but it really should be a “counter all” type of counter ultra. If you’re stupid enough to touch him during U2, you should pay. It makes sense if you think about it, they are still “walking” over his body so shouldn’t they slip and eat it?
Im also hoping he gets some sort of cancel ability for oil dive. If you’re gonna be stupid (Capcom) and leave in shortcuts for retards, then at least give us the option to cancel a stupid mistake because of YOUR programming error.
I’d like to be able to back dash out of the oil dive and cancel it. Yeah and those accidental 360’s are annoying. Also, any help against Bison would be great. That battle is pretty much broken to me. Maybe I’m wrong… if so, got any videos I can study?
yes. I just want to see either safer DDT/Super whiffs (flies over all crouching characters), or a cancel ability on them. I mean lookit Cammy. Even if she doesn’t do anything out of hooligan, she has that slide. It’s not a great tool, but at least it provides block stun.
Aside from that, I’ve enjoyed Hakan as he is.
This.
At least maybe for the short version and in return nerf the damage a tad to balance things out. Making the DDT a bit more useful would just make Hakan that much more fun to play.
Yes. This. Backdash cancel out of DDT would be perfect. Allows for a simple escape, and if you’re oiled…hello DDT > BDNC shenanigans.
I guess they can’t screw around with his frame data too much, or suddenly an oil dive setup or safe slide stops working.
But, making Oil Dive/Super fly over crouchers would be phenomenal (as long as it retains its uncrouchable functionality on wakeup).
And, airborne crouch RH. Just to give him something that reasonably beats throws.
I’ve actually wanted to ask Seth or someone at Capcom, "do you feel Hakan is being used to his potential?"
Perhaps the answer could clue us in on whether he has another hidden trick up his sleeve like DNC that we simply haven’t discovered, or whether he’s being used the way they intended.
Or maybe, this news of his possible buffs answers that question already…
I would like to tag on that with a few things that will never happen.
S.rh:
- Decrease his hitbox size so you actually have to hit his other leg to register a hit (for countering low pokes)
or
- Do the above and make special cancel-able to really get the low poke counter across.
The rumor I heard is that ex oil will make him oily for the entire round. But that sounds too good to me. Also, re: new characters… don’t get excited.
As for the changes I want, I posted a big ol’ listin the thread Reaper just linked. Major points:
–Frame tweaks to st mp, t+mp, cr mk, t+hp, and t+rh
–Slightly shorter oil shower durations, oily period lasts longer
–Unoiled spd ranges slightly better but still worse than any of Gief’s, Hawk’s, or Honda’s (like 1.15 for regular and 1.25 for ex instead of .95; the worst among those characters is Honda’s hp ochio at 1.3)
–Specials not so unsafe; spd and u1 whiffs don’t need to last a full second, ddt should either whiff over crouchers or have its recovery be more like 20 frames instead of 66, slide should have 3-4 fewer frames of recovery
Hopefully it is just a rumor because that would be a prime example of the kind of buff that I would not be in favor of. Otherwise if even half of what you suggested comes to fruition it would be a welcome change for sure.
actually Abel’s HP TT is the worst at .9.
In terms of real SPDs, Seth’s IS the worst. HP SPD = .9. His LP SPD = 1.1. So Hakan doesn’t have it too bad when dry.
If they make too drastic of changes to him, it seems most likely because people haven’t been so willing to learn his weaknesses along with his strengths.
