Even if you could cancel jab and short when oiled, it still wouldn’t combo into slide.
I don’t want a jab hit-confirm combo anyway. I think he’s unique like that because he depends on heavy hits. I don’t want mash jab into special for everyone.
Keep his defense bad, and keep his combos small. I just want a bit more offense to make him scary when he’s in control.
is it too much to ask for A2G HP to go into LP DDT? i mean, i have it in my mind that when you hit them A2G, Hakan should at least have the chance to link into his weakest grapple. at least in his case it pretty much sends them over the screen so he still has to work to get back in there again. i dont know if it seems OP or not, just my suggestion. its just a relfex thats hard to get out of. it would at least be nice if his LP/LK and LP Slide frames were sped up a bit too.
Ok. I usually try to give every idea the benefit of the doubt, but I’m gonna be perfectly honest with you. that is a terrible idea. a GODAWFUL idea. what possible advantage could that give? all you have suggested with that idea is basically “lets make the game fuck up Hakan whenever it feels like it.”
Can you at least tell us WHY you think such a thing would help Hakan?
I’m not sure if it was a joke, only because around various forums (SRK included) I’ve seen people who have suggested very wierd slippage related things regarding Hakan’s oil, so this one just seemed like some more of that.
If jnguyen were to confirm that what he said was inded a joke, however, then I will take back my statement in full and apologize for taking things too seriously.
You’re assuming that the latter part of your post is easy…sadly, it’s not.
And, backdash works wonders against spd, 720, AND DDTs.
Sadly, since many DDT set-ups don’t work against crouchers, jumpers, AND backdashers simultaneously, the only way to catch backdashers with DDT is to guess. And, those odds horribly against Hakan in the long run.
Actually, backdash owns a lot of Hakan’s offense in general…
Hey I didn’t assume anything. Just saying I’ve experienced the phenomenon of getting multiple DDTs in a round.
It’s not so risky when you use DDT from close range, since you will fly over crouching players, and it’s actually a lot less risky than attempting SPD on them.
However, often times I’ll just go for a poke if I’m oiled since that can take care of backdash, and jumps at the same time, and they’ll still be within range for a follow-up of my choice.
I’ve also heard news of meaty safe slide setups that destroy wake-up backdash (along with Balrog’s only reasonable wake-up reversal (headbutt)). I’ve never tried it myself, but that’s something to consider as well.
While I do find alot of these ideas somewhat intriguing I’d be more than happy if Capcom addressed one thing and one thing only with Hakan. Could they please, please find a way to get rid of the accidental inputs associated with the slides and oil rockets. Nothing is more frustrating than missing that key punish because Capcom decided, for what ever reason, to implement a shortcut motion for his 360 grabs. If this were somehow fixed by way of a patch in the not too distant future I would be a very, very, very happy camper.
im sorry but hes NOT Elf Fuerte. the time it takes him to recover he’ll either eat a poke string, FA link, or if they feel risky a jump in to a link. for a Hakan player the idea is to make as few mistakes as possible.
It’s not a problem with the shortcut itself but with how lenient the command is (if that makes any sense). You can do the 360 motion and wait for a full second or so, press P and bam get Oil Rocket, I’m pretty sure this kind of delay isn’t that long for other characters’ 360 moves. It’s both a blessing and a curse and a shame the same isn’t true for Oil Coaster since any kind of delay between the last directional input and PPP seems to give you (EX) Oil Rocket instead
At least, that’s how I perceive things.
Also, would it be “overpowered” if s.HP could hit twice on airborne opponents?
ok, Jnguyen… I’m starting to see a wierd pattern so far, where you are seeing blatantly bad situations as advantages. A wiffed Rocket is NEVER a good thing. that, and if the opponent fails to punish you for wiffing that Rocket, then you are playing someonw who has never played Hakan before, or is REALLY bad at street fighter.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHOHGODMYRIBS!!! I CAN’T BREATHEHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! OH, oh, ahah, oh ha, ha…ooh that was funny!
Why would I be worried about the element of “surprise” when they’ve already opened themselves up for punshment to begin with?? :wtf: Plus, unless my opponent is an invalid, there’s no way a whiffed OR would ever be beneficial in any circumstance unless I’m sandbagging the match.
Hakan is heavily reliant on precise execution in order to be successful. And since his overall margin for error is quite small, something like accidental inputs leading to whiffed moves with high recovery frames makes playing with him much more frustrating than it needs to be. The shortcut or whatever, from a technical standpoint, may be causing these accidental whiffs to occur needs to be fixed before any other buff or tweak is made.
I don’t think Hakan is tooooo reliant on precise execution. His most demanding combo is either s.lp, s.mp… or FA1DNC f.MP xx slide. And he has enough life where you can live with small mistakes (perhaps a major one) and still win.
I think I get most of my wins out of reading the other player, but it doesn’t mean those reads are for terribly high risk moves. I’m a more footsie Hakan than grapple Hakan. Footsies require reads as much as reactions, but I’d be at a loss for what to do in terms of offense if footsies always required precise execution.
I am at a loss for words at this point. what do I say to…THIS? every post you have made so far makes no sense. NONE. I’m not saying that I myself am some sort of logic and common sense guru. far from it. but you… do you think before you type these posts, or is your brain wired straight to your keyboard? Now, I know you’ve only recently started posting here on SRK, so have I, but my god man!
and no, Hakan was NOT DESIGNED TO BE LEFT IN THE HANDS OF LADY LUCK. If anything, lady luck asked Hakan out on a date to a fancey restaurante, and never showed up! When Hakan called her later, he found that he number she had given him was a fake! He visited her house later only to find it empty, and the neighbors claiming that it had always been like that!
The element of suprise has its place as a tactic in street fighter, but that is only to suprise the opponent, not both you and him/her! You as the player should know EXACTLY what possible outcomes there are to anything you try, the opponent should not! If you do something and you go “oh hey! that was lucky! didn’t expect that!” then you did nothing. you fumbled across something that may never happen again, because the opponent will wise up, or you will be unable to acheive the same result again later, because it was a FLUKE.
