as for hit stun his air and ground S are where he loses all of it. everything else he does doesn’t seem to add a lot of hit decay but every S you do cripples it. not much to say about damage scaling that isn’t already common sense, it fully scales on the 10th hit but unlike other characters who’s damage usually goes down to around 10%, shumas stay at 25%. not much else to say really

hello im new to shuma ( well other then mvc2 when i tried to main shuma, and vanilla mvc3 which didnt go well) and im finding it hard to get in with shuma even with sent drones , what are some of his best ways to get it , and what is his best normal to do with a forward box dash?

I’m gonna have to learn this and eventually upload it in HD cuz its just so swag. thank you rokmode you have just influenced me to try ghost rider/shuma/doom! i knew there was synergy for ghost rider but wasn’t sure if doom missiles complemented shuma enough. this looks pretty good to me

Yo Nice combo I play that team frequently because everybody has style combos. I never thought about using H to extend combos, wish i knew about that combo before tonight because I totally would have(tried to do) done it on stream.

Idk. Training mode solves pretty much everything though. Just practice hit confirms. If your hit confirm uses a lot of hsd, you probably just want to go immediately into st. m. c. m. ch mystic stare. For example, I often use J.l j.h mystic smash L to hit confirm off of plasma beam. This uses quite a lot of hsd, so just to be safe I usually go immediately into the mystic stare magic series. Shuma hit confirms are pretty tough though for certain situations. I still have trouble confirming off of a lot of shit.
I wouldn’t reccomend shuma second tbh. I just don’t like really unsafe dhcs.

Also, the entrant I did for the contest is harder than it looks. I wouldn’t really call it a deviation from the bnb. I Consistently doing the jm jm jh j8h st. m . c. m. c.h mystic stare is pretty hard. The timing for mystic stare after they are falling from super jump height in order to get the jh mystic ray extension is also quite annoying. Missiles does a shit ton for shuma in terms of combo extensions, but I still prefer beam I’m still trying to put together a doom/shuma combo video, so if you have any combos that are cool looking for either character feel free to pm me the notations, an idea, or a video. I would give credit of course. I’ve really been trying to incorporate fullscreen charge partitioning combos, but that shit is just the bane of my existence.
Regarding your combo, how would you simplifly it from midscreen so that it carries to the corner and works, without some of the issues u refer to? i’ve typically been trying something like cr M, cr H, j M, jH, j uH, land S, sj M, qcf+H, land M, cr H mystic stare L (if outside the corner I have to use stare M, and sometimes i miss the follow up launch), S, sj, M, M, H, uH, qcf+M, land mysic stare L, super… I often fuck up around here anyway. I want to incorproate missiles too.
as for the haggar/shuma/doom team:
I dropped that team after a day of testing. The haggar otg with beam assist was very awkward. Instead i’ve been messing with Ghost rider/shuma/doom (missiles) which has a LOT of synergy and can do some very interesting things with ghost rider… even though ghost rider is typically looked down upon…
I’ve also been testing modok/haggar/shuma which i think is a very playable team, although it has some rough matchups and shuma is anchor.
Just yesterday I got curious about finding more about Quoggoth, the inspiration behind Shuma-Gorath’s alt costume, and I found some more panels that show him doing more stuff than the 2 panels that we’ve all seen. Apparently he can create animated fiends to aid him! Wish Shuma-Gorath could do that in this game. But anyway, he is such a cool-looking character.

Made me remember just how epic Shuma-Gorath’s alt costume really is. It’s the single best alt costume in the game, in my opinion.
Just finished watching. Basically re-affirmed what I thought from watching the abegen vids. Number of times Shuma killed Dormammu: 2 (and one was basically just a dhc from raccoon), Killed Magneto: 1 (when mag had no assists behind him and 1/5th life) and Ranmasama’s style with Dorm/Magneto was not zone-heavy at all.
Interesting how he used mostly light mystic stares…I didn’t see them working too often.
Tono needs to go for the kill whenever he gets the hitconfirm. I love resets as much as the next guy, but Shuma has a hard enough getting a hitconfirm as it is, turn that into a TOD.

edit: it looks like it enables a character to jump cancel a normal that they couldn’t before. just look how doom comes in off the TAC…wtf is that silliness?
