Don’t you need to get two tacs off successfully? Or is the 2nd one guaranteed, also does this work midscreen, is the hit from the final character unblockable? If no to any of those this doesn’t actually seem very useful(If yes to all then oh man this is some nice shit), pretty cool regardless though.
if you only have 2 characters left so you can tac back into shuma his incoming air H does 99K and the following up air H does 84K, no clue why but it’s definitely a great start to a low jump juggle followed by eyeball BNB. dunno if the TAC inifinite trigger gets voided with this glitch. it sets up any character low enough to the ground to do TAC infinites, including shuma himself. if your 2nd TAC (back into shuma) is a side there is no way their going to hold the correct direction. they have their back to the edge of a full screen and the character just pops out behind them. they’ll adapt to realize you’re popping out behind them after a few times but even after that fact they have to deal with blocking a really wacky mix up. you have to block an incoming TACed character, from the opposite direction, that has a mini xfactor for no reason
From what I hear, you can time it so that you only need to use one TAC.
Not sure about the other two, but it should work mid-screen from the looks of it, and the final hit does look unblockable to me.
Tested some stuff, you can do it midscreen and only with one tac, but its blockable AND avoidable, so this tech is pretty useless.
Bummer.
I asumed that since they made a video explaining its potential uses, it would be unblockable, like a normal combo, only that glitched up.
I was playing around with that using my main team and it’s pretty fun. If your opponent doesn’t know about it you can catch them off guard but against anyone smart it’s pretty useless. Midscreen you can connect a TAC up as well as down, at least with Wesker. Up doesn’t give you anything though, but Dorm can fly, charge a couple spells and teleport from very high up in the air. The only use I can see for this is if you want to style and create a legit unblockable Flare > Chaos Dimension, but if you get a hit with Shuma and have that much meter stocked you’re better off killing directly anyway.
I’d still love to do this to someone unaware of it and see the look on their face though.
If anyone could satisfy my curiosity, how often do each of you use Shuma’s Command Grab in a real match?
Also, as far as that other tech is concerned, what if the bombs go off during their teching of the TAC(Like, mid animation).
i use the command throw in every other match about. a staggered st L into L command throw is great if you know they aren’t going to hold up back or if you’ve tricked them not to. XF guard cancel command throw if i know i can get the KO off of the follow up
the one time i had the side tac teched the guy teched it with back. they still explode, but neither of us were sure if they were blocked or there was invincibility frames due to the tech and the screen angle. i know the person that has their TAC teched hits the wall and is invulnerable after that until they land and get up. not sure about the other person still.
solo 2.5mil damage shuma combo, just because. has no practical use really

Just finished a video of my own… a few tricky combo extensions and at least one outright gimmick, but beyond that there’s my optimized-as-I-can-figure ways of getting good damage (and nice chunks of meter) off of any and all throws. Except for the normal-height forward airthrow, that’s just for style and raw meter.

I’m betting the usuals here already know most of this, though. Still, think it could be worth trying to submit as a frontpage tip?
So…what does point shuma do when he gets a happy bday and he isn’t near the corner?
Hmm, good point… I’ll datamine that right now, though if you have a particular starter in mind i’ll use that if ya say it.
smash loop only works in xfc3 i believe, so it would have to be using xfc activation at a proper point of his regular bnb to extend it close enough towards the wall to get enough mystic ray damage + dhc
…without using stare of course
…Aaaand I just did a full corner-to-corner carry with Shuma solo against both Spencer and Spencer+Doom, after remembering a particular starter used in the Ultimate Bradyguide. No XF required, but it still needs a Stare to pull off. Still need to set things up again to record it, but the notation is…
cr.LLMH j.M-Smash, s.M(1 hit) cr.H M-Smash, s.LM(1 hit) cr.H >>
>>Bday? L-Stare cr.M S j.MM8H M-Smash –
>>Solo? M-Stare S j.MMH8H M-Smash –
–Dash fully under, j.S. Dash HMR.
Relatively low damage and meter (640k after the HMR, about 1 and an 8th bar built) but it guarantees that Shuma puts the opponent to the corner and gets you +2.8 meters to kill two characters with on a happy birthday. My team setup nets a Doom kill and somewhere in the realm of 980k damage against the point character., or 840k solo.
So I had to open IE to actually log back in because apparently dumb advertisements at top of SRK block the actual sign in page, brillant. Anyways lost my computer for awhile and stopped following forums and didn’t play UMVC3 much, got really upset I didn’t make it out of pools at CEO losing all 6 games that knocked me out to reverse OCV lvl 3 strider. Thinking about getting back into tournie shape, still can beat everyone within 3 hours of me blindfolded but might want to travel to another tournie and see how I can do.
I really don’t want to read all the posts i’ve missed in last 2 months or so. Is shuma still one of the worst characters in the game? I mean did anyone discover anything new or good since then. Last i left there was really no reason to use shuma over a character like vergile/dante/doom/zero/mags/dorm. I usually played with IM sub since casauls af tournies usually don’t have shuma. I was debating just using vergil or doom instead and just ez moding myself but hoping something new to keep me playing shuma, or at least justify it.
my suggestion for you based on what I remember of your team (woverine/shuma/akuma?): drop wolverine, use shuma on point, keep akuma on anchor and add vergil in the middle
Why would I drop wolvie and put shuma on point. He still gets obliterated by characters like mags/vergil for free doesn’t he? Yes Wolvie is very momentum based but at least he can win some matches much easier that shuma. Also I hate how good vergil is, I know he fits into every team but it just gets so old playing him constantly.
shuma assist not that good, dhc’s not that good, terrible on incoming, needs assists to be effective, and you already have tatsu assist so what’s the point?
I’ll be going to the San Diego tournament this weekend.
They put shuma in the trailer! <3
If any of you guys are going hit me up! let’s rep shuma!
Looks like Foo left an impression on Maximillian. He discusses Shuma-Gorath a bit in his new video, calling him one of his favourite low tier caracters to watch in the hands of an expert.
