I’ve been following these threads for awhile, around when MvC3 came out and finally decided to create an account and post first about my main tentacled man shuma! Anyways, just curious as to who you guys run on your shuma teams and with what assists?
I go with Shuma/Doom/Wesker w/ ray/plasmabeam/samuraiedge
and x23/shuma/dorm w/ ankle/ray/hole

A team that I am considering for UMVC3 is MODOK (Psionic Blast), Shuma-Gorath (Mystic Ray) and Nemesis (Missile).

I will try 3 teams

Jill(arrow) Hawkeye (otg assist) Shuma (ray)
Jill (arrow) Doom (Missile) Shuma (ray)
Jill (arrow) Sentinel(Otg bomb) Shuma (ray)

For Shuma, I’ll stick with my vanilla team, with the only change pertaining to the order. I’ll run:

Dormammu (Black Hole)
Shuma (Mystic Ray)
Doom (Hidden Missiles [maybe Plasma Beam])

With the buffed Dormammu we are getting with Ultimate, I think I can confidently run him as my point man. He will benefit hugely from Shuma’s assist, which will make Dormmie’s teleport something to dread. His assist is the Black Hole, which will be useful for extending combos or applying pressure in case I DHC/Crossover Counter/tag him out and start Shuma’s offense.
Shuma is second because I don’t feel he is a good enough anchor, and that he desperately needs assists to be mildly effective. Besides, placing Shuma at the second spot with the beam assist opens up space for Doom to run with the missiles assist instead of plasma beam assist. That way I accomplish two objectives: equip Dormammu with a beam assist and allow Shuma to have a safe cover for when he tries to get in.
Finally, Doom is third because he both has awesome assists and he doesn’t really need assists to be scary as fuck. I may end up changing his assist to Plasma Beam if I see that Shuma doesn’t really need the missiles and benefits more from the beam, which allows for scary cross-ups when used in combination with Mystic Smash.

HOLY SHIT! Did you see Shuma’s HC output? Ground-loop + Hyper Mystic Smash will be a fracking powerhouse!

Chaos Dimension does 435K when mashed. That’s a nice improvement.

With the initial bite included, that’s a nice 485K.
And that’s just if it’s thrown out randomly.

I think the 435 is with the bite tbh, also its a lvl 3 so it does not scale. Also i feel dorm is really nerfed in UMVC3 because the only reason he ever gave me trouble was op flame carpet. I plan to try shuma out on my funsie team with a team of like Vergil/shuma/ironfist or something like that. I think vergil will be top tier but i think shuma and iron fist both be lower tier (one good adavance gaurd and he misses a rekka = death it seems). Also to person above if you want to use Modok use his bomb assist, its completely god like for command grab characters, trust me seen it in action at high level tournie play.

According to everybody else, I’ve heard Dorm overall is much better, than he use to be. so beware.
