If they buff that elbow to punish cr.mk then how the hell do I beat Guy?

They likely won’t, and his elbow is not that hard to regularly anti air.

Oh boy, that red focus and the ability to use two ultras in one match. I’m… not sure what to think of these new mechanics.

Red Focus- Requires 2 bars. Loses to armor break and grab. If the level 2 doesn’t break armor then I already know my best options, and EX hozanto will rape it for free if I catch him on startup.

Double Ultra has a damage nerf. Gief holds the strongest raw ultra in the game and it only does 343 (U1), 297 for U2. Not a big threat if you can maintain a life lead and stay solid.

Its not possible to FADC with red focus is it? For example, after blocked DP. Perhaps use up an entire Super meter lol

what are the odds that we be able to EX run stop > Red Focus? i can here alot of bitchin from alot of other Players. Imagine abel Red Focus into EX hurricane. smh. it feels like alot of frustration in the early months of USF4

Unknown if we can FADC. I 'd think if that were possible it would have to benefit you greatly like being left heavily positive, if the level 2 focus doesn’t break amor or red focus in general doesnt break armor until level 3 like a normal focus then EX Run is definitely useful against it, because they will either have to hold it. or release and dash. Most of the time we probably won’t be able to punish but it’ll be a way out for meter if you didnt want to risk EX hozanto.

i was there when the Red Focus/Double Ultra leak happened… and that person mentioned random character changes such as nerfed c.mp for Guy

That’s the only real tool that effectively keeps Guy mid-tier. If he become free to jump-ins, we’re done.

I think if they nerf cr.mp guy must be getting a better option for meterless anti-air.Maybe buffs to his HK tetsu,St.hk or D/F+hk.

I was just playing a session this morning where timely cr.mp halted obnoxious jumps by shotos. cr.mp isn’t even a fool proof anti-air to begin with, now they are going to make the timing/spacing even more stringent or none-existent?

…That being said, what’s everyone’s thoughts on buffing d.f.:hk: or instant/bushin flip as the new go-to anti-air?

siiiiiiigh -_- I knew about this for a while, tried to keep it a dark secret because technically no one is suppose to know at all. But things will come with change I’m sure.

St.HK is getting a buff same with EX tatsu. That’s all that was known. Not everything about characters were said but expect a lot of changes to go underway, Cr.MP has always been Guy’s go to normal anti-air. It should stay that way completely.

Cr MK frame advantage is also getting nerfed aint it?

Ive a feeling Ultra will still be a decent challenge for Guy.

Never heard anything of that, i know its -2 in SFxT but the distance it leaves guy is almost no difference anyways think Bison’s scissors kick if that’s the case. I doubt it’ll be rough for him, none of these changes are confirmed for full release, many loktests to be done. We’ll see at the end, let’s not talk about anything until everything is finalized.

HK tatsu immune to air attacks would be delicious.
I’d love a buff to neutral jump HK, its fecking useless. Give it the same juggle properties as Ryus jumping double punch, Bisons double punch, Hakans jumping mp etc etc. Then we could Hozanto/exHozanto with the right spacing, Ultra in the corner (after both hits for once) or run slide for the knockdown or something. I searched for a use for nj.HK and outside of one hit in the corner into ultra, or close to the corner for hk.tatsu it seems to be muck.

All I really want is for target combo to be fixed. At a stretch I’d also like Ultra 1 to have better scaling or even better have bushin chain count 1 less towards the juggle count. oh oh oh actually elbow (from bushin flip) to do fricking chip damage. yesh please.

Ability to hit EX hozan after Bushin Chain throw, that would be a badass method of pushing to corner.

it should be cancellable if they want it to be viable. i want to be able to cancel shoulder before they hit. something like makotos dash punch(that is safe on block anyway) that would be pretty cool since the shoulder is so susceptable to everything short of dash forward. lol. and they are every punishable. i guess i can see why that would be OP though. guy already has so many bait moves. adding another might be unfair. but they said they want every character to be OP right so LETS GOO!!!

Red Focus and Delayed wakeup has me worried for Guy. He has close to no moves that break focus as it is nevermind a focus that can take over 2 hits.

For example, run slide. run overhead, cr.Mk, forward mp over head, elbow drop, ninja sickle, his tatsus, target combo, all red focusable. Hozanto has a slow startup and leaves him having to close the gap again unless in the corner. With delayed rising and red focus throws and hozantos won’t give the same benefits they once did and will reset the match more often than give him an advantage. The neutral jump safe jump off run slide will also now not be a real pressure tool against pretty much the whole cast mot just those blessed with a 3frame reversal.

Ryu and most characters can also use a low profile move (cr.Mk) to go under almost every attack, crossup or jump in he has so I’m struggling to see where he will get momentum from. Just using Ryu as an example: Run Overhead can now not only be blocked for a DP punish, but cr.Mk under to avoid and punish, Red Focused for a full crumple and on hit even without delayed timing gives little advantage. Forward mp overhead gets stuffed by cr.Mkand with red focus can be absorbed for a full crumple, crossups get stuffed/avoided by cr.Mk (unless a deep HK which will be DP’d) and flip elbow drop is the same. Whats stopping characters like Ryu just downbacking like they are now? but now they’ll have more options and the chance for a full crumple :v

I suppose maybe using forward mp to make someone red focus then canceling into hozanto could be a new mind game but still. Guy needs something to open up ultra defensive players that holds some sort of advantage, throws were it, now with delayed timing I have a feeling they just won’t give enough risk vs reward.
