Guy Combo thread: Make em say Hya!

I haven’t seen this in any videos,maybe its been discussed already though.

But Guy’s neutral jump roundhouse(does 2 hits) puts the opponent in a juggle state.So far in the corner I’ve been able to land EX tatsu.Are there any other combo possibilities with this?

Someone posted a while back about asking if Guy had a Kara throw. He does and its with mp. It’s about half the spacing of Ken’s Kara throw. Not bad for someone who normally needs to be toe to toe.

Forgive me… but what the hell does the notation “cl.” stand for? I’ve never seen this notation before this thread.

Close I’m pretty sure. When people mention the elbow drop, are they talking about the command one, or the down + p one? Can you combo after the command elbow drop?

Some combos that can work on crouchers (tested on Chun, Gief, Blanka).

j.HK->d+HP->MP-HP->EX Hozanto (348 dmg, 642 stun). Can be done off j.MK, but the j.MK has to hit really low for d+HP to combo.

If you’re running into range issues because you’re not jumping in deep enough, something that works along the same lines and is easier (and in fact is probably better, but you might want to use Hozanto mid-screen for more corner carry):

j.HK->d+HP->MP->MK Tatsu (352 dmg, 620 stun), which is pretty good for no meter. EX Tatsu does 367 dmg, same stun.

On Blanka, only EX Tatsu will combo, and not for all hits, because Blanka’s hit-box is dumb. First combo (with MP-HP) whiffs as well. You can get a slide after the MP, though, for 311/550 Oh, Blanka. You so crazy.

edit: Just tried on Guile, and it has quirks there as well. It looks like this may be really character specific, which kinda sucks given d+HP-MP link is already screwed up by range. I think if you hit the jump-in, d+HP->MP->EX Hozantou will work on anyone for decent damage and good stun, but the Tatsu followups can whiff here and there.

Is it me, or are Guy’s stun values unusually high compared to some others? Impressive combos here. Now if only I had a good method of doing Bushin combo off a crouching jab I’d be set. It’s more of a PITA than I thought it’d be.

Yeah, he does a good amount of stun damage. For example:

In Corner

Jumping HP, Ninja Sickle, EX Hozanto, EX Hozanto (no need to FADC) does 700 stun, and this is such a simple corner combo

Edit: Timing is pretty tight for the second EX Hozanto without FADC on some characters, but you can do a medium or heavy tatsu instead for 665 stun, which is still pretty damn good since you only have to use 1 ex meter.

its not a jab but c.mp > bushin combo works…

cr.mp >st.mp works too for > st.hp > hozanto

Yea what i am finding is i have trouble comboing off the elbow to ducking opponets,i mean i just perfected a dee jay that would not stop trying to AA my jumping elbows,like it took him more then an entire round to realize he could not random out and snuff it,but i keep dropping links after the ducking jab, trying to work a D mp in,tighter timing but the comboing will hopefully be more consitent

Anyone have a suggestion for a safe, reliable way to combo into Ultra 1? I find that the J.RH>Ninja Sickle>Ultra is predictable.

Right now I’m just loving Guy’s c.lk which links to his bunshin combo and s.mp, s.hp special cancel. It seems to me that Ryu’s hit stun animation really screws with cl.HK.

His elbow drop seems pretty neat to mess around in theory with the crossing up into c.lk but theory gets SRK’d, also works after kicking off the wall if anything.

Yes !

Here’s what I’ve found:

From one hit:

  • Tatsu (any strength, incl. EX)
  • EX Hozanto
  • Super
  • Ultra

From both hits:

  • Tatsu (LK, MK, EX)
  • Super

Personally, I don’t think it’s very useful, but I guess it’s nice to know. I guess you could catch a few jumpers from wakeup with a single hit into ultra, but it scales pretty hard. You’re better off landing an EX tatsu and keeping pressure on IMO.

I posted this in the Q&A thread also, I was messing around in training mode and found something funny. This is a scrub/bad habit, but after hitting with lp you can press all 3 punches and HK at the same time, 3 times and bushin will come out…

So, has [c.lk, c.lp, s.mp xx mk tatsu] been pretty much confirmed as the go to BnB?
