The bushin flip change is still in, the recovery was just reduced, not completely removed.
I finally got to try 2012, though im partially rusty and well my friend kind of sucks so my execution was off and etc but I’m enjoying the changes so far. But if I’m going to side anyone, it’s going to be Cody… it’ll be awhile before I step my Yang game up to be on par with Guy, I still remember some of Cody’s metagame and tactics and his walkback speed reminds me of Guy’s old one :x
I had the same problem HK tatsu has definitely been changed. I have been away the past few days so I couldnt test, but in live matches I was whiffing HK tasu all over the place from distances I am 100% sure it was landing in Super/AE. Blanka and Guy seem to be unhittable with HK tatsu in the corner unless your at point blank range for example, and after a ninja sickle/bushin chain/netral jump HK the timing to land seems drastically different on the whole cast. One thing I did notice is it seems to work better as an anti air (beat out stuff I wasn’t expecting)… but Guy has about 100 better options over HK tatsu as an anti air so if it was changed for that its a bit lame.
I think its a change to the horizontal distance Guy travels and not a frame change etc, unless they changed the hitbox or active frames on the first hit, but I use HK tatsu all the time and it has been altered in someway. I will hopefully be able to sit down and try compare super-ae12 and see what the **** is going on lol
Not sure what all this talk is about the HK Tatsu being changed - I haven’t experienced any trouble connecting it after the Bushin Combo in the corner, even at distance. I was playing for quite some time last night against various different characters and didn’t have any problems. If I find anything out though, I’ll add my voice to this concern. Enough people have complained about it now that it seems something to watch out for.
I will say that getting the HK Tatsu to connect after Bushin Combo-backthrow has always been quite a tough link I think. I don’t often go for it until I wanna be really flashy and link it into the Super afterward to close a round. Otherwise I just use another normal (which, so far, is unchanged).
I actually still have AE on PC and HK tatsu would whiff on Guy no matter what timing I did for it at point blank. And since I got to play 2012 I did manage to get a Bushin Chain throw into the corner and hit HK tatsu on my first try
For HK Tatsu after Bushichain, It felt also weird for me! I went in training and now I feel like the HK tatsu have to be delayed in order to connect.
Are the armor cancels still there? I haven’t been getting them down in 2012, could be my execution
I’m convinced the timing and distance has changed for landing HK tatsu after lp Hozanto, Ex Hozanto, ninja sickle and Bushin Chain. I use HK Tatsu far more than I should to be honest and it just felt so different (only had 2 days on 2012). I could be wrong but if HK tatsu went completely unchanged Ill be very surprised.
I honestly would love to see a comparison of the distance Guy travels horizontally in Super and AE2012. Point blank in the corner its barely noticeable, but the max distance you can use HK tatsu as a finisher felt a** lot** shorter.
Again I could be wrong… need to test it out.
EDIT: who’s betting its exactly the same or can even be landed further away lol… the longer Ive gone without playing the more Im convinced its all in my head
Thats a good question are armor cancels still in because i couldn’t do them worth a damn when I played.
U1 armor cancel still works for sure. Did it in training mode but didn’t try U2.
im not noticing any difference with the bushin chain to tatsu combo honestly. Things I DID notice and like that the ‘retreat’ speed has made counter hit fishing hell of a lot easier. I’ve had waaay too much success doing low strong back up low strong to whatever. (basically doing the gootecks shimmy). Bushin flip recovery is what it always should have been. I may be reading into it too much or just be getting lucky with this tactic …but ive had considerable success doing bushin chain to ex hozanto…empty fierce bushin flip to ambiguous jab bushin flip grab. I was surprised at how well this was working for me. I have to concede i definitely feel that guy is more…solid and less flimsy liquidy.
did anyone notice guy can lp shoulder into ultra on some character like Boxer n Sakura without a Focus cancel in the corner easier they go higher in the air 4 some reason i have tested on Ryu but he drops to fast so its character specific i guess, can someone test the whole cast n list if this works on more then Boxer n Sakura plz if this is a hidden change tell every guy player ASAP XD
I noticed this, landed a naked ultra off lp hoz on Balrog. I saved the replay to make sure. I’ve been away since day two so I cant test anything.
Thanks dude, looks exactly the same Ill hopefully be able to get to the bottom of it once I get home. Its been ages since I played but I’m sure after hozantos the distance is different… maybe what was said above is what changed? If lp/ex hozanto is sending opponents higher they could also be sent further away meaning the time to land the first hit of HK tatsu is tighter?
Purely theory fighting here… and again I could have been imaging it in the first place

Its not a change Guy has been able to do that since Super, its just character specific, there is a case where if you hit on the last active frame for Lp hozanto that you’ll be able to connect a meterless U1 and a few combos can that set that up. There is a list in the tutorial thread somewhere that lists 2 combos that can lead to a meterless U1 on an assortment of characters. It’s nothing new.
my post is not about being able to land lp hozanto into U1 without meter but that some characters go higher or still in the air more so the link is a lot easier XD just look into it i check’d n only boxer sakura n i think viper go higher after lp hozanto i checked ssf4 n ssf4ae for the difference.
I can’t play AE v2012 its not on PC yet.

Has anyone actually found a hidden change for Guy? I’m hoping something like changes to a Juggle count or something has snuck in after seeing Dan and Ibuki get new combos from one move having a reduced juggle count. Anyone try Bushin Chain, ex hoz, FADC anything? oh oh oh oh someone try Sickle to instant Izuna grab… that would be godlike.
