Guile Moveset and Attributes

How do you Kara FK (referring to Dagger_G’s post about punishing Shoto & Boxer sweep with a kara FK)?

If I’m not mistaken, you got from :d: to :r::mp: to :u: then :k:

So sort of like a :qcf::mp::uf::u::k: ?

Easiest way to tell you’re doing it correctly is to go into training, set the attack data up, put guile underneath it and do a normal flash kick, see where he ends up and then go back to the corner and do it again with the kara input.

I got it a few times, and it doesn’t really give you a whole lot of extra distance, but if it’s enough to land a punish on something that’s pretty awesome.

I thought you couldn’t cancel out of the f.mp and a kara fk used a normal standing mp, same way you’d do s.hp>fk.

I think he meant back mp, which is the same as neutral mp. You can kara out of forward mp, it just doesn’t give any range advantage.

Think this thread should about cover what you’re looking for:

how do you dash back ultra with guile?

check page 13.

A quick Ultra question…

I was playing a Gouken (absolutely sick character IMO, wish I had spent more time with him to date) tonight and he threw me out of my Ultra, I was going for chip to end the round, but after the first set of blocked hits he got the back throw>ultra to finish.

Question is: Is this specific to Gouken(since his throws have some odd properties) or can any character throw guile out of a blocked Ultra?

I don’t know about throwing but Guile can be hit out of his ultra easily after blocking the first set. Normally, on hit you get 3 fk’s, on block you only get two. Right after the first set, SRK is coming if they have one. As a chip ultra, you have to make sure it’ll kill them on the first set (although you can also quite easily be hit out of it on startup).

yeah, you can throw him in between his ultra. sometimes, i do it for the lulz.

Man, s.mp is really getting on my tits these days. Like, I know I’m in range for s.mp > sb, but the engine gives me the AA version and Oh! Whiff! Punish! Insert Fucking Coin!

I get the opposite. I’ve been practicing trying to incorporate s.mp (AA) against Rufus’ dive kick and I get the cross instead which results in one of his 345234534 ways into ultra.

I never use s.mp for anything… why not use c.mp? I guess I don’t see what’s so special about s.mp as it’s a frame slower on startup and has the aforementioned range issues. Am I missing something here? I know you folks proved me wrong on the close s.hk as a situational AA.

Anyways, cool story. Was playing a scrub ryu in the arcade today and had him knocked down in the corner. I throw a boom and he wakes up with an ultra. Guile was close enough to ryu and early enough in the SB animation (he had his arms open wide, no boom graphic on screen yet) to where the ultra would have ate the boom and killed guile. During his ultra freeze, I had to time to return to db, grab a charge and cancel the boom after ryus ultra freeze with a super. HK super blew through the ultra for a win and I giggled like a little girl because it was just so friggin cool.

Sorry, had to share.

I’ve landed plenty of sb > ultras in this situation - looks sick.

I checked page 13 for the backdash ultra. They all have a FA in there and I was wondering if you were to do it straight with a backdash (ala Dagger G) if it’d look something like

:db: :l: :l::df::d::db::l::ub: + :3k:

I can do the regular dash ultra (only on p1 side) but I can’t do the backdash ultra.

Also, I’m having a bit of trouble doing the dash ultra on the p2 side. It seems when I do :db: to :r: :r: on p1, that’s what I get. However when I try to do :df: to :l: :l: on p2 side, I get a :d: before the dash and it doesn’t register the dash. I think its the way I hold the stick? I try to let the stick go to neutral then do the dash but I think it messes up my timing or I lose my charge as the ultra rarely comes out but its pretty consistent on the p1 side.

Did you do db, uf +3k or did you do the full ultra motion during this period?

Charge down back, hit focus, then hit left. This will give you the back dash.

During the ultra freeze the clock is still running; just do a normal super or ultra during the freeze and as long as Guile isn’t mid-way through anything, it’ll execute normally.

Seriously? That is actually awesome. Gonna start practicing that tonight!

:db:(charge) :r:+:lp:

<Ryu activates ultra>

:db:(charge again during the freeze), :df::db::uf::hk:

Boom got cancelled using two seperate charges, was pretty sweet.
