double sweep -> i have seen some players whiffing the 1st contact but hitting the 2nd with some success.
if i’m at whiffing range for 1st contact, is the sweep harder to punish?

You can cancel the boom into ultra as well (which is what I was alluding to earlier).
It’s a little more difficult, but, no, it’s not your saviour. Stick to using sweep when it’s unlikely to be punished.
Come again?
Yep. The ultra looks to be cancellable into from a boom, but only during ultra freeze.
Here is something I’ve done more than once:
I knock down Ryu when we both have ultra and he’s inches from death. I get to that sweet spot where a slow boom isn’t punishable by anything and throw the boom. If Ryu wakes up with a desperate ultra, I can input my ultra and Guile will ultra in a way which looks to be a cancel. Now, I know there’s a small chance that the few times I’ve landed this, I was actually fully recovered, but I’m pretty sure that’s not the case.
If that were true youd be able to do it without the freeze frame. Unless it’s some kind of bug.
A lot of characters have a little gimmick where, after a knockdown, they cross the opponent up really quick to make them block the wrong way real quick.
I’m at school, so I can’t it right now, but anyone know if you sobat kick over a knocked down opponent, would it make you land on the other side of your opponent? If it does, you could fake someone into blocking the wrong way because people unexperienced with the Guile match up would have a harder time telling which way Guile’s going to land when they wake up.
Do you guys use far s.mp as an anti-air ever? Because I know it’s not as good as cr.hp, but you can cancel into a a sonic boom off of it. Or should I just always anti-air with air throw/cr.hp/deep EX Flash Kick?
Are there moves that will just flat out beat my cr.hp? Or will it always work if I time it correctly?
Any tips on anti-airing with air throw? Do I want to do the air throw immediately when jumping? How good is anti-air air throw?
i use all my normals as AA… given the right situation…
st. jab, st.strong, cr. strong, st. fierce, cr. fierce, cl. fierce, fwd. fierce, st.foward, cl. round house, flash kick, ultra, air throw.
hahaha. i can recall a moment when ive used every single one of those. and most of those, i use pretty often tho. some are pretty situational
could you explain to me some situations where st.mp, st.mk and bazooka knee work better than cr/st.hp as anti airs please. i’ve been trying to start using them but i haven’t really worked out when/where i should be using them yet.
st.mk is useful against further jumpins when you can hit their body but their jump attack doesn’t hit yours because guile kind of ducks it. You can also use it to hit their foot but it tends to trade more. I use this mostly against Ryu, Gief and Honda.
st.mp (uppercut) is useful in closer jumpins like Rufus’ dive kick. It allows you to stay more mobile and it comes out faster than the regular c.hp (you don’t need to crouch) and has less recovery.
thanks. see, i was sure they had their uses, i jut wasn’t sure which matches they worked in the best.
st.mp, jab owns rufus on most of his air attacks but ex messiah, time it well in the first round and he wont dive kick you on the next rounds.
When should I be using Rolling Sobat Kick? Also, is the only real use of Bazooka Knee to advance while charging?
I do this to Abel as well. You can bait out his Ultra with a slow boom and you can land an ultra, super, or flash that connects at the same time the boom hits him.
Only time you can land a 2 hit combo from boom-flash(non ex)
The REAL use of Bazooka Knee is to accidentally hit someone with when you’re playing on pad and going for a throw. Without exception, the opponent is frozen by their own shame, during which you may follow up with an actual throw.
I actually don’t use the sobat much. It’s good for backing up quick while holding your boom charge. It can be used for anti-air but it’s not reliable. You can use it for boom mix ups, especially when you’re playing keep away with Zangief, Honda, Able, and the like.
I also use it randomly while dealing with El Fuerte’s ridiculousness.
lmao… These words are the truth. Although I’ve done this with my stick. :karate:
When are you supposed to use Guile’s upside down kick? Everytime I use it, I just get hit.
After a Focus crumple, it can start a combo.
