Guide: How to put art under clear Seimitsu buttons

i can do this with semitsu PS-14-KN 30mm Pushbuttons right??? and thanks for posting this up

Yes you can.

What is the name of this tool?

It’s supposed to cut circles I guess… good to do artwork!

I’ve been lookin’ everywhere for it and can’t seem to pin point the name!

EDIT: Found it… a circle cutter… who would’ve known?!

Anyway, any good brands or types out there to buy? My hand cramps up trying to cut out those perfect circles, this would definitely drop an hour or so off my work for art templates

i notice in the picture you left the heart in the arcade box and did you cut while it was still inside there??? is it easier to cut it out like that or just leave the art on a flat surface and cut it out??? because i heard its pretty hard to cut out those button holes if you cut it out a full circle without doing a x shape first

Great tut, I was looking for one exactly like this!

This is a huge help. Thanks OP!!

this seems like the best place to re ask this question…

ok, this TUT handles how to make your buttons apart of your back art, your basically preserving the art under your plexi and just putting the cut outs to make room for your buttons back into your buttons as opposed to trashing them…

but what if you want a second peice of art for buttons that is not in your art under your plexi?

example I’m thinking about building a clear plexi stick with a white bezel, large Akuma etch pic on the left and have a red “ten kenji” as the button art. the same kenji for each button. how would that be done? what would be the dimensions of the button to print out a sheet of those to make sure they fit?

Just have the Ten in the art where the Buttons are.
They get cut out anyways.

i see…so jsut do it anyway…even if I plan on keeping the panel see thru…make a mock up art template with them in there…ok, I’m gettin it now…

one more ?

the Seimitsu PS-14-K that the original thread starter is using for this are discontinued…

will the PS-14-KN do the trick?

and what is the size to buy for a TE stick plexi 30 mm fine?

I’m just askin cause I’m new to this, my stick is coming next week, and I wanna go head and start ordering parts so i can dive in when it gets here…

so it says on this thread that using a regular home printer and paper is ok if you are going to put plexi glass over the art. now lets say that yes, i am placing plexi glass over my art but want something a little nicer looking than regular paper. what would i ask for at the print shop? what kind of paper and do i need to laminate it? i think laminate and plexi glass might be a little overboard though. thanks

^yea i would like to know what paper to ask for at kinkos for use with plexiglass/lexan.

The KN is the same button, the only difference is the “N” witch stands for Nut, it uses the screw on nut instead of the pop in sides. I think this is actually a good thing since you can easily rotate the button to get art aligned to some degree and also I saw more than one person crack/break there plexi cover with the push in type buttons, with the screw on nuts that wont be a problem.

yeah, me too lol

do seimitsu buttons work on all sticks? i wanna get the SF4 Tournament stick but i dont want to get the wrong buttons.

Any Japanese 30mm Button; Sanwa or Seimitsu.
Either Screw-in or Snap-in.

But one small problem for one Button if Sanwa Screw-in.
The Nut too big to clear the Mounting Bracket for Button that is lower-left.
Would have to modify the Nut by sanding or filing or use Seimitsu Nut to work.

For that Button, Seimitsu Nut would need to be place under Mounting Bracket.
Then the Button would be screwed in, instead of the usual Button first, the screwing Nut.

Hi all, new in this forums… I need some advice here, I’m about to start my custom arcade project… and after a lot of research for the best components and a lot of pictures of yours (arcades sticks)… I decided to go with clear buttons… but I was planing to use IL Traslucent Buttons… but I don’t know if they will be ok to put art inside… they seem pretty much the same as the Happ buttons, also the size is the same and someone already told that indeed, Happ buttons could be use for this.

Can someone tell me if IL buttons are fine to use it for this purpose?

Here’s the link of the buttons that I’m planing to use:

IL Translucent Horizontal Pushbutton, White

Any help will be very appreciated, thanks in advance!

I’m reposting this from another thread, not sure which would be more appropriate…

I’m planning on using actual buttons from a template (the template I’ll be using is below). How should I go about cutting so that my button cut-outs are pretty accurate? Perhaps cutting the four sides and sticking the template (lami-labled) on the metal plate? (I’ll be using a SE, no plexiglass)

its pretty accurate as far as button placement and size. you can line up the artwork with this template, size up the buttons to fit with the template and when you print it should be the correct size to cut out for your buttons.

Edit: The link i gave you wasnt as accurate as I thought it would be. I’ll look for another template for this post but i’m sure someone else will have it by then haha

Cannot.

The Template you linked is what DemiiPoet using.
It is not accurate.

For designs like DemiiPoet which rely on accurate in the Buttons, the Template is not good.
