Guardians of the Galaxy film, updates

Im being impatient. All these movies need more del torro. Also, seeing a celestial on the big screen: big thumbs up.

I’m still curious which one it was. I thought it was Arishem, but now am leaning more towards Eson.

It was confirmed somewhere, I forget the article.

Fanwank-time.
He’s searching for something, that’s his job; for what, though?
The other Stones, maybe? Yo, Marvel, don’t tease us like that lol

If it’s anything like the 616, he’s collecting the gems to keep them out of Thanos’s grasp, since as an elder of the universe, he can see how much of a threat Thanos is.

How far reaching is Fox’s control over the X-men? Do they own W-Factor and X-Force also? Does that mean by deault that Cable is their’s?

Because I’m running off two hours of sleep and trying to keep upright while finished a project at work (taking a break/checking e-mails since working remotely from everyone else).

Damn dem typos…

gotg is the best marvel film IMO. i’m ready for avengers 2 right now. turtles won’t cut it and neither will any other movie. bring on the continuation. i need to see how everything pans out.

Honestly, I KNOW this is a MArvel movie and I think from a ‘fun’ factor the only one that parallels it s Avengers for me (I’m still itching to see it a second time in theatres, something I haven’t done wince Avatar I believe), but it’s hard to call it the best MArvel movie because it didn’t feel like a MArvel movie (more Lucas inspired and no that’s not a bad thing).

What I will say is these long drawn out dates with them planning 5 years+ in the future are bullshit. When yo uare raking in that much money and doing so few movies at a time, like think about how old the actors are going to get. Imagine trying to maintain the physique. Heck, god forbid - it’s not like Sam Jackson is a spring chicken. I’ll give them Av2 next summer, but I can’t see why we don’t get a minimum of 3 Marvel movies a year Spring/Summer/Fall with room for 2 during the summer. And it wouldn’t be burn out or overkill - these are all directed by different entities, have different vibes, and different cast. the only real overlap is Joss Whedon, but he only directs Avengers so far that I an think of. Marvel could print money by releasing various movies. they can be one shots with little input on the over ‘scheme’ of things.

And yes I just want more…having to wait damn near a year for the next Marvel movie isn’t ‘cool’.

I just think they are spacing things out too much. I understand wanting say Avengers to be more ‘main event’, but come on, we aren’t on pace to get a Hulk movie (just an example not what I am actively asking for) until like 17 or something. They cast him in like 10 or 11. I understand wanting to do it right, which is why I’m not screaming for a Hulk movie, but I do feel as though they should be a little more aggressive. Hell they just got WB to bow out. I don’t think it was a coincidence that after the success of GotG, DC said ‘fuck it’. DC has a reason for spacing things out…their track record isn’t so hot.

Since turning things into a ‘Phase’ - what turds has Marvel had? I mean to me - the weak link is Thor 2, and if that’s the weakest link, why aren’t you pushing more product?

Unreal…its too early in the day for you to be drunk bro

Saw the movie twice. Whether or not it was better than Avengers is hard to say since, in retrospect, Avengers was the end of a small arc while GotG was starting a new one.

Bautista was great, Pratt was great, Cooper as Rocket was great, Saldana was kind of the weak one out of all the performances (although this may have been due to how the character was written, Gamora should’ve been way more bad ass than that).

As for the rest of the discussion, I don’t know enough about the GotG universe to say anything. I will fully admit that my lack of knowledge of the characters lead to me enjoying it a bit less than Avengers (just a clear fanboy thing, not in a way that implies anything about the movie).

Way better than The Dark Knight Rises so DC can hold that.

Gamora could have been more badass, but then the movie might have had an overload of badass. They need the characters to play off of one another, and the dynamics work better, I think, if you have one stoic straight (wo)man.

I thought it worked perfectly. Watching the characters play off one another is, to me, the best thing about this movie. I wanna watch them hang out more. I want a flippin’ TV show. Yo, Marvel. You got cash, right? Lots of cash. We need a really expensive GotG TV show. So I can watch them hang out. Okay?

Back to the “slightly boring character” thing… I initially had the same kinda complaint about Cap and Widow in Winter Soldier. But the thing is, they need to be boring to ground all the crazy shit happening throughout the movie. As it was, they still had their awesome character moments here and there without turning Winter Soldier into another quipfest. They fit the mood.

Marvel hasn’t really had any turds in their Marvel Movie Universe run, unless you (apparently; I haven’t seen it) count most of the first season of their Agents of SHIELD show. Even their “worst” movies have been perfectly fun and watchable.

In my eyes, the least good MMU movies are Edward Norton Hulks Out, Iron Man 2 aaaaand maybe, just MAYBE the Thors. And even these are good, fun movies.

The Norton Hulk is probably the worst of the bunch, but I think this was before they’d solidified the whole movie-universe thing. Right now they have a decent amount of quality control or whatever, a certain mood they’re going for, that ensures that even if the plot’s dumb it’s still a fun ride.

And yes, I’m one of Iron Man 3’s defenders. That was a satisfying conclusion to Tony Stark’s character arc, even through a little bit of the Dumb here and there.

the first Hulk movie was fucking awful, but did that one count?

What shocked me about this movie, was that DC and WB (who is fuuuucking DC) didn’t have faith that Green Lantern could have been made as a space movie. Yet GotG proved it could have. Opening few minutes on Earth, the rest spent in outer space. And it worked fine.

lol @ Unreallystic meltdown.

Marvel has had more turds in their movie universe then great movies.

Movies that sucked: Thor,Thor 2, Iron man 2, iron man 3, hulk, captain American.

Not all of those were terrible but they were varying degrees of"meh." Personally I think the worst MCU movies were the first few films of wave 2 (iron man 3, Thor 2).

None of those movies sucked, IM 3 was highly mediocre but it did not suck. People mistake a decent or okay movie or video game with it being garbage now and that is absolutely NOT correct. A 6 does not mean the thing is bad, it just means it is okay and highly mediocre for one reason or another.

Marvel’s lower ranked movies are better than a lot of other franchise’s best films. Iron man 2 is better than 2/3 pirates of the caribbean, all 4 transformers films, and others. Marvel is the only company, in my opinion, that has not made a bad movie. Below average yes, but not bad.

And I saw Guardians twice and I can say it’s on par, if not better than the Avengers. My only complaints were Ronan and the fact they didn’t use Nebula as much as I thought.

9.5/10

Nebula was setup well though

Spoiler

She was willing to kill her sister. And later, is shown capable of taking a rocket with barely a scratch. Thanos calling her his least favourite daughter, by proxy, was hilarious in my eyes. She will be around in future movies, and I just hope what happens in the comics, happens to her.

And yeah, we can all agree, aside from his WTF moment, Ronan was poorly used.

Also saw it again today, still loved it, opening still got me :frowning:

Forgot how funny the throat slit scene with Drax was

“yeah, see…everybody knew that”

Just got back from seeing it. Great movie - the best I’ve seen in awhile. There were many omg feels moments, even within the first minute of the movie. Movie made you actually care about all of the characters, not just one or two of them. Each character had a unique background, which was really cool. Kinda wish they’d have more Yondu moments, though.

I wish they would do a firefly style show with the gotg cast, instead of just movies; that would be awesome. Get Joss Whedon on it.

I didn’t say they were garbage I just said they sucked…as in there was more bad then good so the overall experience is negative.

Rocket is now officially the highest selling comic…impressive.
