Guardians of the Galaxy film, updates

he was pretty much the voice of Thanos there, going to the planets and asking for the tribute.

I’d like to see the Black Order each get one of the Stones, then when they fail, Thanos uses them all, himself.

If you’ve never read any Thor then I have no reason to take any argument you have on this topic seriously. However as a curtesy I’ll educate you a bit on his history. Thor is not a tittle or some occupation, it’s a birth name in the same way reed Richards and Bruce Wayne are. Unlike spiderman or batman, which is in fact a tittle, Thor can’t simply be “passed on"for the same reason Peter Parker can’t just say"you are now the new Peter Parker.”

Thor therefore isn’t a title but instead a identity, defined by decades of history and characterization. This in turn comes back to my original point which is why must a female character thrive off the disempowerment of a male character. In all fairness whenever there is a new female character for titles such as ghost rider or captain marvel, they are always separate individuals and people who are just assuming the persona…but never are they actually the same person with the same birth name and history.

This is why the situation with Thor was so profoundly stupid. It was clearly a cheap way to cause controversy and get contradictory pats on the back by tumblr social justice warriors. This also leads back to my point that gender swapping popular characters is mostly a bad move. It doesn’t change what the mantle means it simply just says"we don’t have faith in this new character so we will hijack the popularity of a existing one." I think it was Jackie chan who said he didn’t want to become just another Bruce lee he wanted to be his own thing…and in the end I think that’s a far more productive road to go down.

This is rich, considering that comics have done the whole “person in another body/soul” thing sooooo freakin’ often, and you’re arguing against it on the dumbest possible grounds, as though there isn’t a super easy workaround for the whole “but that’s his birth name” thing.

Is it even confirmed she’ll actually be called “Thor”?

Finally saw it today, damn good movie. I’m not gonna say what Marvel movie it was or wasn’t better than, just that it was a fun and unique quality movie that really deserves the box office success it’s getting.

Thor is his birth name and no amount of mental gymnastics or ignorance will change that. Even when doc ock became the new spiderman he was physically inside the body of Peter Parker which made sense. Unless this female Thor is just Thor with a sex change, it makes no sense for her to have his birth name.

It’s like if every new robin had the name dick greyson…brush up on some logic.

She’s not gonna be named Thor, they’ve already mentioned this.

Drax hasn’t hasn’t been “superpowered” ever since his rebirth in Annihilation.

The only time he gets really strong is due to an energy field that surrounds him when he gets close to Thanos… which was also a one time deal.

Next time they faced off, it wasn’t there anymore.

Magus would need Warlock though. That’s something better saved for later movies.

And if Magus ever gets in, I hope he eventually ends up jobbing to Lord Mar’Vell.

Good Christ.

That’s completely wrong. She will be called Thor. That was the main sticking point of the announcement.

the first white guy in history to successfully learn a eminem verse outside of the fuckin hook lol.

wedabest

I kinda think it would be nice if they got the chick who played Peter’s mother to play Death (with her hair, though).

nah watch her look like sandman’s death just to troll lol. cause apparently marvel is all about trolling lately.

Shit I do that shit all day erryday.

Nailed it!

Edit:
Take a tour inside milano. I mean “Milano” the ship lol.

saw it, loved groot. especial phoenix down groot. drax was on point. gamora and star lord was meh. ronan shouldnt have died. thanos didnt really impress me much. fail to see why the keep showing the collector…

They didn’t go into Collector’s details enough, he seemed there mainly to explain about the gems (which is something I feel Gamora should have been able to do). Doesn’t meen he was shown too often, or enough, though.

Well school me - what’s his role in all this at this point? He had Adam Warlock’s cocoon it looked like, and he seemed ot be amassing them (infinity gems), though apparently ‘not’ for Thanos, when I read his wiki a while back, I just didn’t grasp his involvement beyond exposition of history (which he did in this one). I doubt they would give him the necessary screen time to truly play the villain…
