Guardians of the Galaxy film, updates

Yeah, it’s a little bit his ego (thanks for pretty much telling me what Adam Warlock has said since forever). I always felt it was more like he got bored being a God, and got ‘careless’. Even with the Gauntlet, he gives them all a small chance.

lol yeah that is pretty much it. I didn’t like how they explained his powers.

I’m also curious what’s going on with Ebony Maw, and if the Cull Obsidian is going to show up in the MCU.

anywho, saw the movie, and loved it. I wouldn’t say it’s the best Marvel movie (I enjoyed Cap 2 more), but the action was leaps and bounds above the others. I’m having issues with the big bads being so…useless. They seem to never show them being worthy of being a villain, then they get an infinity stone and basically shoot lasers or jedi toss people around.

Thanos was great, didn’t like how short they kept it though. He needed another scene later on.

Spoiler

That dude who spoke for Thanos, I kept wondering who he was, and if he was somebody important in Marvel comics. In Avengers, he was known only as “The Other”. Then I get curious as to who he would turn out to be, and Ronin does the only cool thing in the movie he got to do, and breaks dudes neck…oh well!

Collector was quite useless too.

Raccoon was meh. Overrated. Combined with Groot, they were hilarious though. Groot stole it for me (dat dance scene). Whiplash scene had me fucking rolling. Gamora fight scenes were pretty good, but I expected some sort of backstabbing from her early on, yet she seemed to trust everybody pretty easily.

Drax was fucking hilarious. Give that man an Oscar.

when they showed end credit scene, I sat next to some white bitches that got PISSED. “ugh, I had to sit through credits for that? I don’t even know who that is”. Got a lot of laughs. I think like one other person knew who it was.

Spoiler

Which infinity gem was that one supposed to be? We’re now just saying each gem has the power to smash planets??? Judging by colour, I would guess Space. And are they explaining them as being created/used by the Celestials? I was kinda disappointed they didn’t tie in Knowhere and the Celestial that was shown using the infinity gem, who looked like Arishem the Judge.

After seeing that bad ass grin after he said: “I will bathe the starways in your blood.” I had goosebumps.

I marked hard the first time he popped up.

So I’ve been thinking about the scene where Ronin kills all those Nova Corps pilots. Perhaps that starts to ignite a Richard Rider introduction. Doesn’t his Nova Force reach full capacity when all the other wielders get killed?[/details]

The guy behind me shouted OH MY GOD, I was like wtf /kanyeshrug

…I saw Dawn of the Planet of the Apes yesterday which I thought was a extremely well made film. But I sitting here wanting to go see GotG again.

Great review by i09.

Basically says that the movie is great because of how it brings us back to those classic 70s-80s space operas and how the music grounds everything.

Marvel just upped this video

Look about at phase 1 & 2

GotG in Lego

This dialogue between rocket and drax also made it for me:

[details=Spoiler]Rocket: "His people are completely literal. Metaphors are gonna go over his head."
Drax: “Nothing goes over my head! My reflexes are too fast. I would catch it.” [/details]

Yeah no complaints about the acting.

What actually surprised me more than anything as the 3D affect. For a movie where it wasn’t shot in 3D, that I can think of it was the best upscaling done to date. No eye irritation like Godzilla or cardboard cut outs like Avengers. It’s still not Toy Story or any of the true 3D movies or Avatar, but yeah, real good job.

I liked most of everything in it. I need dat soudtrack tho.

As for Thanos, I’m fine with it, but I wish his suit was less gold/metal, and more purple. Nitpick yeah and doesn’t make or break anything else, just somethign I’d like to see them change next time.

I need help on the infinity stones though, as someone else mentioned, they seem to be all over the place

Spoiler

And didn’t hte collector have the Aether on his ship that blew UP? So isn’t it on the street somewhere?

  • :bluu:
Spoiler

Could be its not his only collection house, also a theory going around he is working with Thanos and already gave the Aether to him.

When Drax pet Rocket i about lost it

How batista doesn’t return as a huge face before summerslam i don’t know.

Baby/sappling groot

The gf just asked who the end credits guy was and i said the name.

It was perfect though. People associate that guy with eighties movie. And this was a movie of an eighties guy.

Tell Sly how to make a proper 80’s action movie

The feels when rocket was drunk at the bar though…

I can’t believe how hard I marked out when they showed

Spoiler

A living Celestial. I have wanted them to show the Cosmic Pantheon for ages. Still no Uatu, though :frowning:

my thoughts on the inclusion of the after credits character:

Spoiler

It was an homage to George Lucas. Disney just acquired his Lucasarts stuff, and this whole movie had a Star Wars vibe to it. Why not throw in a character George Lucas made a movie about? Besides, he does have history with the Collector as well

Still no guesses as to which stone was in this movie?

[details=Spoiler]I dont see Collector working with Thanos, considering he COLLECTS things. And a major plot point of Thanos Quest was Thanos going up against each of the Elders of the Universe (which I was upset they never elaborated on with the Collector) to collect the Infinity stones. I can actually see them giving Thanos his own movie, as well.

Also, I don’t see the explosion in the Collectors ship as being something that damaged more than the room they were in. It’s not like the Aether was just sitting out on a table or something. [/details]

It was purple

BTW, this movie showed one of the greatest trolling in cinema IMO lol.

And his eye

Literally losing while sitting in my seat. I can just about hear Batista saying that and it sounding like Drax completely means it…

That’s… that’s too much.

I’m in for a great time tomorrow.

Just Star-Lord alone would fill that quota, and Pratt sold it hella well as far as I can see, but with Rocket and apparently, of all characters, DRAX getting in on it, they’ve set a high bar.
But, well, this IS Marvel we are talking about here; that’s what they do!

Based motherfucking Marvel, holy shit.
They got *everything *on lock, LOL.
Phases? How does anyone plan MOVIES like this?

In a completely non-ironic sense, YO MARVELLLLLL

When Draxtista was pumping up the group and then he was all
