haywire was dogshit man, the best part of the movie was the scenes with ewan mcgregor in it, his look of distain and confusion of why he signed on with such a piece of shit was genius
Granted, I agree that Zoe S does indeed not look like classic Gamora and I personally didn’t like the casting when it was announced.
That being said, its been years you have to let isht like this go with comic book movies. I mean Jackman doesn’t look like classic Wolverine but he plays the part well enough. There comes a point when you have to move on and accept change, instead of holding it against what may turn out to be an entertaining product or just ranting.
I miss classic Gamora but I also miss classic Wally West from DC canon before 52 and I know I am unlikely to see him at least looking like himself anytime soon. You move on like all things in life.
well, color me unsophisticated, but I was captivated with the images of an attractive girl throwing believable punches. I dont think I have ever seen that before in my life. Im rooting for more action movies with this chick in it. Somebody get her some acting lessons or something, and I think she could really do big things.
If arnold and Norris could make careers out of ‘acting’, she should be able to pull something off as well
hahaa
Cynthia Rothrock was giving me wood whilst kicking ass before I even knew what to do with that you got Michelle Yeoh who taught me what yellow fever was plus bitch went on to be a legit Bond girl.
Hell Michelle Rodriquez had real fights going on back in 2000, dont you act like Carano was breaking ground by starring in that art school shite though yes would bang
I expected the comparisons to the kung fu chicks. But Carano doesnt do that. There are different types of fighting in movies. There are the martial arts movies for which you have to suspend disbelief to enjoy and are captivating due to acrobatics and creativity. Then there is straight fighting intended to go that realism route. Despite the fact I am highly entertained and have high respect, I never actually believe Rothrock or especially Yeoh when they are fighting in movies. Lets take the archetype and go with Jackie Chan; save for a few moments in his two fights vs Benny, his fights are so captivating but only for the sake of their creativity and athletisicm. Carano’s niche is something else entirely, and as far as I have seen, she is the only female that has ever pulled it off.
I saw girlfight when it came out and was disappointed. Michelle R. had the swagger, but the fights were just not believable - to say the least. Nobody seems to be able to do what Carano can do. Extended cut scenes with minimal editing, taking hits, beleivable striking on her part. How can you look at this scene with nothing but ambient sound at not see it as groundbreaking high art:
Rothrock had some dope kung fu ish, but its not like she was a superb actress, so I dont know why you are holding Carano to a higher standard. All Im saying is that Carano has potential to fill a niche in a way no one else can. I want to see more.
hmm…not bad…not bad. I watched the H&G movie when it popped up on Netflix reviews were horrible so I waited. I just wanted to give the ‘Dat Bone’. She handled the action well, has somewhat of an interesting set of facial features while still looking good. Not bad…
I’m hardcore into kung-fu flix, well of the Shaw Bros dynasty, and thus have been watching the fighting in movies over the past decade change - pretty closely. It’s a LOT harder to film the more ‘MMA’ style fighting in a way to truly see/feel the impact, and it’s harder to make it look impressive, but despite my bias, I find that a good MMA style fight scene is pretty top tier. When it comes to hand to hand combat for a modern action movie, I’d much rather have more of an MMA style approach to it, there is just a better sense of realism…the diversity of MMA fighting techs make it more believable to me. Two random chicks trading blows and throwing themselves around just seems more logical than two chicks doing a spinning roundhouse and parrying each other’s kicks simultaneously.
When Rousey retires whenever, that is a decade or whatever from now, I’d love for her to get into fighting choreography.
Oh yeah I’ve seen it done well, just saying that’s what often happens with the bad scenes. The bad scenes look like MBay directing a transformers fight.
That wouldn’t surprise me either. The vibes I’m getting have me all over the place in regards to the ‘acting’. Zoe is most likely overselling the cyborg assassain part, RR is channeling the “we need a black guy” angle, Dave I hope just doesn’t talk much.
