Guardians of the Galaxy film, updates

That’s actually a terrible comparison because Bradley’s voice is terrible plus he’s hired as a voice actor.

Also how does this address what I said…again I’m not sure what the argument is here unless you guys are arguing Zoe looks like her lol.

This nigga Sennin really said Halle Berry fit the role of Storm SMH.

I said that…when?

Stop eating the cheese from the traps, guys…

The Storm casting was strictly because of name. “Who’s the biggest black female actor we can get right now” - it was to get butts in seats as it wasn’t a series, just a stand alone movie to try and keep Marvel afloat. Wolverine was cast by favor/recommendation, not by looks. Go back and look at previous movies, it hasn’t been until the last few movies that he’s really started to ‘look’ the part of Wolverine short of the hair. He BECAME the perfect casting.

I’m an honest dude, I do NOT like hte make-up on Zoe, I understand it, so I’m not knocking them for it, but I don’t like it. But lets b honest, how many full figured actresses are out there that can actually act, have SOME level of name recognition, aren’t already signed on to an existing MArvel property, and as pointed out by Svi3t - has experiience in heavy CG movies? So again, while I’m not physically in love with her in the role - I get it.

Lynn collins looked good as dejah thoris in John carter so I think she could have been a better gamora. Her facial features would have been closer and her body is a lot thicker.

Googles as he wiped the movie from memory
"Meh, doesn’t really look any better for the part…"

lol I bet at least half of SRK’s black guys fapped to thoughts of Halle Berry storm giving them electric blowjobs.

I didn’t at the time, but now that you’ve given me the idea…

Halle Barry Storm was uber hot in the X-Men anime. Only time she ever was for me.

Well that’s just from the top of my head…hmmm maybe lacey chabert?

smash isn’t a real fighting game. yet people try and make it work.

Same thing is happening here. Nobody is gonna fit the description and have the tools to make it work. Just shut up

Lol Jackman is like 6ft tall while playing a midgit. Hes fantastic for he roll, but even hes not perfect.

what, you wanted Warwick Davis with knuckledusters?

lol no, my point was that being spot on with how the character looks really isn’t as important as the talent portraying them.

No.

You aren’t giving Zoe enough credit for her actual acting chops and experience with not only action roles (super important) but dealing with tons of CG as I think Soviet pointed out…acting aint easy, acting to something that’s not actually there to act off of is even harder Groot and RR means this is a MUST skill. If you are going for just looks, then you need more voluptuous and athletic, lacey has larger boobs than the other chick, but isn’t exactly voluptuous. or athletic either.

Well fuck you Marvel!

I never said Zoe couldn’t act I just said she doesn’t look the part. My only issue was that she doesn’t do a good job physically resembling gamora…now as for which actress could play her with the acting skill to match is beyond me but I’m sure some must exist.

That last part tho.

The swathe of what’s needed to deliver the role makes for a very very very very small vinn diagram. Think of the Wonder Woman issue. You can find chicks to look the part, I’ve seen recommendations just from SRK that are like…yo I’d snu snu that shit. But they aren’t actors. Hollywood likes certain types, if you don’t fit that type, you don’t get the experience you need typically. I mean look at the chicks who’ve done action movies over the past few years…and when I say do action movies, I mean really get into the action themselves…

Zoe - Colombiana, Avatar, The Losers, Star Trek
Gina Carano - Blood & Bone minor, Haywire great movie :sarcasm:, FF6 legit but filming after Gamora was picked
Angelina Jolie - Largest catalog of action movie, but cost too much, was anti-action for a while, and just as skin and bone as Zoe
Milla Jovovich - 5th Element, Resident Evil series, good experience, but skin and bones and too old looking for role
Kate Beckinsdale - Underworld series, Van Helsing, good experience, good looks, not exotic looking at all
Anna Silk - Lost Girl, no big movie experience, looks good with a push up bra, not exotic either
Rhona Mitra - Underworld, Shooter, Stargate series, solid action experience, a little CG experience, exotic looking somewhat, viable for the role (and affordable)
Jennifer Lawrence - Hunger Games, Xmen series, experience, exotic, already with a Marvel franchise, most likely too costly.

I mean as I see it those are going to - acting wise - handle the role best, and provide some recognition for a cast driven by CG and the growing, but still not ‘star’ Chris Pratt. And as I see i, Zoe, Rhona and Anna are going to handle the part best, with Anna being a VERY distant 3 on the list. If I’m going between Zoe and Rhona, I’l ltake Zoe’s growing experience and name over Rhona’s price tag.
shrug

I can’t fault Marvel at ALL for their casting choice here. IT would be different if Starlord was played by … Willard Smith or Tom Cruise, someone who can carry ticket sales solo, or if they had Rock in there instead as “the maniac”, but I actually like the casting they went with, so Zoe was the smart move.

I thought haywire was amazing. Never seen a girl be believable in an action scene before. I was mesmerized.
