Guardians of the Galaxy film, updates

at least groot doesnt wear anything

Why is groot naked?

anyone else never heard of…this?

I knew of the comics but I never read them, and lets see how many comic book people now want a movie about the Inhumans

Inhumans directed by joel seigel

Folk is talking from what I hear, if Guardians and the animated Big Hero 6 does well enough it would open the doors for Marvel to try more of their lower tier properties in other media.

Power Pack FTW in 2018!

Edit: But yeah on the trailer, I liked it but keeping my expectations mild for this film like I did both Thor movies, especially given that this is basically an origin story for the entire Marvel cosmic scene.

I’m honestly surprised that Power Pack hasn’t broken out yet. When Disney bought Marvel I thought that would be the first property Disney would blow up.

Marvel will have dropped the ball if Watcher isn’t in this.

I don’t why why Utau would get himself involved unless Marvel is building towards the infinity gauntlet in the phrase 3 series of films. Also, there’s no telling if the Watcher used would even be him. They can go the Ultimate route and have the Watcher be a series of super computers that monitor the universe.

Uh…you mean besides the fact that two of the Infinity stones are already identified and taken?

Is that what happened in the second Thor movie because I haven’t seen it yet.

even without the obvious Infinity Gauntlet setup, this movie is their best chance at getting people to know about their cosmic pantheon, and other cultures (Skrull, Kree, etc).

Don’t know if they can use Uatu, since his origin is slow closely linked to the Fantastic Four he might be part of that stable but then again, I would have thought the same of Ronan who may or may not be Kree in this film.

I have no idea why Disney can’t just buy that shit back with their Mickey Money. I bet World War 3 will be fought over Marvel IP’s. Or the next DC bomb.

They could, but why would they when they can profit off of Fox and Sony’s failures or successes either way? Disney and Marvel will get paid by default through license fees, merchandising, and profits regardless.

Marvel will make plenty off of the projects they take-on personally, but by having other movie studios take-on the rest means they don’t have to worry about kicking out much more expenses they can’t recoup if numerous potential projects bomb at the box office.

I would imagine they wouldn’t want the quality of the brand to suffer through other studious half assed efforts.

If they cared about 3rd party quality they wouldn’t have sold the rights in the first place.

The situation was really really different when those rights where sold, Disney didn’t own Marvel at the time, so yea I doubt Disney gave a shit. Considering they do now, it wouldn’t be out of the question for The Mouse to want to protect it’s Marvel IPs brand worth. Those rights where sold when Marvel was still an independent entity, not owned by anyone else. The situations different now, you’re position is based on old information.

I mean shit, Marvel wasn’t in a position to be able to make movies on their own back when they sold those IPs so the situations completely different from then to now.

They give a bunch of studios the film rights for their characters because being an independent entity gave them that advantage. DC being owned by Time Warner had to go through Warner Bros if they wanted anything adapted from their characters.

On top of that, said characters weren’t worth nearly as much now and Marvel was treading water as it was back then. They certainly weren’t the power they are now.
