Haha yeah that’s a deal. I guess I just kind of have a block when it comes to Skrull teams. I’m gonna play with Tenderizer guard break setups later since the height’s a little better vs pushblock than it is with Jam Session. Might well be I change my mind about it
As stated earlier I still feel the big important difference of skrull v nova is their Play style in that skrull is inherently more risky which I aim to avoid in a frank team. That said they’re both easily top 3 for Frank point characters ( the other being Dante. Some would argue vergil but I’ve already stated my beef with that) so it’s arguing best vs best not good vs bad
Yeah I realize you can DHC out of finger lasers and get level four. I have this tendency to word things in absolutes when I’m arguing lol. I retract any “Doom can’t level Frank at all” statements and reaffirm my previous “you have to go around your ass to get to your elbow to level Frank with Doom” statement(s). You’re also risking anchor lvl 1 Frank. You couldddd get Frank to level 3 and then DHC into Doom to get him in the game and work from there, but even then you’ll be at 4 bars and level 4/mayyybe level 5. By now the ass-elbow trajectory’s been in play for a while
Theoretically you can TAC into Doom and DHC back, but you have to be reallyyyyy good at positioning Doom to connect enough finger lasers for level 4, and the spacing changes by character size. Even though we’re always trying to find non-TAC tech, it’s not like that’s not an option…just here even that’s not really practical IMO.
EDIT: To be clear about it…yes, I mean you’re anchoring Doom and Skrull dies so Frank’s out at level 1.
Don’t forget wolverine frank! I’ve posted before that Wolverine doesn’t need tags to level up frank (Though it is admittedly by far not as easy as nova/skrull) but wolverine might use shopping cart better than any other character. AND LOVES DOOM BEAM. And if you have to tac…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSfdas_IRDc works up or down. Guaranteed level 3 possibly 4 dependent on character health because it will kill. Catches all techs and non invi hypers. Some FAST air dashes can get out , but a jump m translates to full combo so becomes 50/50. Not too shabby
Has anyone ever tried running Dante (Jam Session)/Frank (Cart)/Iron Man (Beam)? Obviously the issue there might be anchoring Iron Man, but I feel like that team might be a lot of fun. Beam would be really dirty for getting that one Dante confirm you’d need to level Frank as well.
I was thinking about messing with it for kicks even though I don’t know Iron Man, but has anyone by chance ever played it?
Nice thanks man! I was just messing with it from a Frank-combo perspective for fun, and found something kind of cool. If you time it right, you can Tools M off a j.Tools H + Unibeam. That means that, running something like Dante/Frank/IM, you can begin a combo with a ground bounce (say j.MS) and corner press using Jam Session for a relaunch and then get your 2x Tools M’s in the corner for the FFC situation. j.MS was doing ~990k with both assists available for me, which is pretty solid. It’s a cool pair, I’m definitely gonna mess with it more.
Incidentally, with those 2 assists Frank breaks 1million off an air throw, haha. It’s corner-only, but that’s the most I’ve gotten, which is pretty beastly.
Sweet what do you guys think about about Skrull/Frank/IM I was using rocket raccoon anchor but I’m unable to progress with coon I just can’t seem to use him =/ oh well
Just got back from SEA (was an amazing event) Rocked the Joe/Frank/Coon team, if you guys dont know yet. I ended up getting 5th. Which i still think is pritty good for an Australian. Noticeable mach ups where Xian(Mags,Morri,Doom) ,JWong (Wolverine, Storm, Akuma) and Tokido (Mags, Doom, Phoenix) Now first up was Xian the end score was 3-0 My way. He has had alot of experience with that team, since he told me he plays against Kusoru. My team has a disadvantage to Xian’s team but if played patiently and smart i feel that it can over come the over whelming pressure of Mags/Mori + Missiles (4-6 Match up). At times he played unsafe by going in and getting hit by log trap, and unknowingly knew about Joes Super that stays with the character even if they Tag out. Which made him lose the last match where i slowed mori, so when she came back in with sister sister his inputs where to fast for the slow morrigan to shoot.
Next Jwong. i feel my team beats Jwongs due to he can out zone me (which makes him rush down…alot) so since he must rush down there are risks in getting hit by log trap. Once you kill wolvie it becomes mush easier coz storm cant do mush to catch Joe, just gotta watch out for Hail Strom when calling assists. But trying to block Wongs mix ups is extremely hard and is a diffrent mind game in its self. i got close i got him to 2-2. But then he activated Wong Factor and i hardly stood a chance (6-4) match up, since it was justin i think its 5-5.
Lastly Tokido, that team is very hard for my team. For one he plays a very Zoning game and its hard for joe to work against that. Its also very hard to snap in phoenix and get a very solid mix up on her since she can just air dash out of any mix up form joe/franklvl1. the only good thing is that your almost garenteed to get free Down TAC’s to get 1 meter and lvls for frank which makes fighting Dark phoenix a little easier. But Tokido plays Kusoru all the time in japan so he knows the match up inside and out, 4-6 match up.
At the end of the day i still believe that this team can still place high in tournaments. Its just that teams that work around just zoneing make it very hard for joe to get in with log trap. So its best to have a back up if feeling confident. possibility Strange 2nd or 3rd with bolts to help Joe create better zoning options and ways to get in. Or just put vergil last and go durp with lvl3 (it always seems to work to mater what the team is)
Dont give up on this team guys. It can still surprise alot of people
So I have an anchor question for people. I’m really enjoying Dante right now and I’m looking to flesh out a Dante (Jam Session)/Frank (Cart) shell as a secondary team (currently using Nova/Frank/Dante).
I’m looking for an anchor with a strong beam-ish horizontal assist to facilitate some Dante teleport shenanigans and combine with Jam Session to boost Frank’s space control. Obviously there needs to be anchor-side leveling tech there, so, at least to my knowledge, that’s going to eliminate Doom or Magnus–although if anyone has Magnus tech to level Frank from anchor side I’m actually kind of interested in learning him.
From an assist/leveling perspective, I like Iron Man (Unibeam) a lot here, but I’m not confident I’ll really enjoy playing him. I’ve been labbing him and I’d definitely give it a shot if he seems to be my best option, however.
I was also thinking about Taskmaster (H. Arrows). I’m not sure how the projectile speed works out for Dante’s mixup game, but H. Arrows is a solid assist with some good durability, Tasky brings the easy level-up tech, and I like playing him. I’d also kind of like to run Thor here, but I’m pretty sure his anchor game rules that out If anyone’s tried that, I’d be really interested though.
Does anyone here run Dante/Frank/X? I don’t really remember what anchors (if any) I’ve seen run with that shell, so I’d love some input.
Haha I’ve read those first two posts religiously over the last 5-6 months, man–best Frank resource I know of. Since Iron Man’s the only beam that comes with THC tech, I’m trying to find out what projectiles (like Task’s H. Arrows) work well with Dante. I know some people use Arthur to back Dante up, but I’m not really keen on him (understatement). Thor’s beam comes with a DPS level 4, which is great, and, again, I’d love to play him, but I’m skeptical about his anchor capabilities.
A lot of the options seem too slow to really help Dante’s mixup game even if they have some screen-clearing potential for Frank. Something like spitfire, for example, is a fantastic assist, but isn’t gonna give me what I need I think. Maybe though…that’s why I’m hoping to find someone who’s got some experience.
No man don’t say things like that, lol. Spitfire’s looking prettyyyy good right now too…
EDIT: I’m kind of thinking about Quick Work, though…It can be pretty nice for Frank, and Dante would get some incredibly hard to block Stinger-bc-Teleport left/right/high/low’s plus grapple reset unblockables. Nothing wrong with that, but I’m not a huge Deadpool fan. Still, I like his playstyle a little better than, say, Iron Man.
Iron Man, Trish, Deadpool, Sentinel, Taskmaster whatever: they all suffer from the same problems as a Frank anchor. Your level up options are THC and that’s it.
